Great all around TV

Those in search of a well rounded 1080p tv -- watching movies, sports, and playing video games -- should feast their eyes on the J6300 model. This particular model is great for watching films due to its deep blacks and good contrast ratio. Although this panel has a native refresh rate of 60hz, the j6300 is equipped with an effective refresh rate of 120hz which allows for better gaming experience as well as watching fast paced sports.

Garbage, except for the panel

The panel is beautiful, but everything else about it is junk. The interface is primitive, albeit much better than what came with the j6200. If you have used a Roku, you will be very disappointed with the Smart Hub. There are dead-ends in both the menu and SmartHub options that force you to exit and start over and it's generally awkward to use. I probably wouldn't use the built-in internet browser, since there are better alternatives (e.g., iPad or Roku's YouTube interface).
There was a terrible lip-sync issue. You can manually sync the audio and video, but the step size is large and I couldn't quite sync it.
The motion interpolation (soap-opera effect) is awful. I had to turn it to clear or off and live with the judder. Even when the darkness sensor is off, the screen darkness changes uncontrollably.
Customer support is worse than Comcast with non-native English speakers over barely audible phone connections, who ask the same question over and over and can only tell you what is already obvious from the spec sheets and guides. This is after waiting for hours or days to get through.
If you buy this TV, evaluate it carefully before installing any updates. I think it may have been an update that caused these problems, but tech support tells me there is no way to revert to the earlier version and they haven't been helpful in troubleshooting, so I will return it and buy another brand. Best Buy has been very good about returns and exchanges so far. I would not let 14 days go by if you have an issue with this TV.
It's a shame, because this is a genuine Samsung panel and it's a good one.

I have gradually been replacing all of the old TVs in the house and this replaced the last one in the master bedroom. Out of 6 high def TVs in the house, this has by far the best picture.
Even the channels that are not hi-def come in very, very clear. Really happy with the purchase so far; a great TV at a good price!

I love Samsung tvs but this one was a bad one. The first year I got this one it started to turn itself off while I was watching it. After talking online to tech support they had me update it and said that should fix the problem. It would be fine for a few months then start turning itself off and trying to turn on again. It got worse with time to where I had to unplug it to stop it from trying to turn off and on and then it would work. After more time that would not work either. I would wake up with it turned on all by itself. If I was not around it would try and turn off and on continually and eventually nothing would work to make it stay on. It now has no picture or sound it is less than two years old and Samsung told me it was on me to have it repaired as the one year warranty is now passed. I read a review on another website where this same thing happened to another person and the quote to have it fixed was at least $300 because it was the main board that was the problem so I guess I am not having this fixed. I want to replace this tv but now wondering about Samsung.

Backlight Went Out - Do Not Buy Samsung

I bought the Samsung TV and the Backlight went out on it after a year. Just out of warranty and Samsung says "Sorry, nothing we can do". The part to repair the TV costs the same as buying a new one. STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG TVs!

Two Years Then Bust

To the day, the tv stopped working 2 years after purchase. I enjoyed it tremendously during those two years, and then I got the email from Best Buy that my extended warranty expired, and not 2 days later - the bottom half of the screen is darker than the upper half of the screen. The only thing to do is repair it (for the cost of a new tv). Samsung's customer service is less than helpful. You should also know that the HBO app and this tv are often incompatible, leading one to have to disconnect the power source from the tv for 30 seconds at a stretch to reboot the connection. After 2 lovely years the relationship is over. I'll never buy Samsung again.

We have a living room with a TV cabinet that we love, but it won't fit a very big TV. This one was a perfect fit. The picture is great.

Compatibility Issues!!

Be forewarned. Samsung has giant compatibility issues with soundbars and Bose sound. I have been very loyal to this company with products in my home and it seems I am now forced to buy their sound system. Its complete nonsense and a waste of time if you are not 100% sure. Sadly the two different sales people I spoke to at Best Buy had no clue. I couldn’t find anything online either. This TV, J6300 series, will be go back to BB today. I have already found its replacement – do your homework… Call Samsung, it might take them 15 minutes to figure it out but at least you will know ahead of time.

Came with failed or unstable software

Model UNJ6300 arrived promptly from Atlanta last week. It was out of stock locally and everywhere else within 250 miles. Unit turned on, but could not get any streaming channels. Neither Netflix nor Amazon would connect. Tried everything I could think of. The screen error and user's manual suggested a problem with my Internet provider. YouTube did work, so that was did not seem to make sense, but I called the ISP anyway. Service person confirmed it was not the ISP and suggested it was probably outdated software. I updated the software, but that did not help. The on-screen display said my software was up to date. Called Best Buy and hit a brick wall until I convinced the agent I was ready to load it in the car and return it. Then she gave me the Samsung help number. The first agent at Samsung was no help and went through the same software update that I had done. When that failed, she eventually put me through to a real service person who realized that the failure to update pre-loaded software was a glitch in the device. He was very vague about what causes that.
He took over remote control, set my location to Albania (or Afghanistan, don't remember which), loaded in all of the Albania software. Re-booted, then reversed the process, changed location back to USA, reloaded its software, and it now worked. Netflix and Amazon came up as expected. That was last week. Total time wasted was a bit over three hours. I have not watched much TV since then, but have investigated the new controls.
Today, I added an antenna for on-air broadcasts. Only one channel was received (52-1 and -2), which is obnoxious "SmartMedicine" testimonials and religious hymns in my area. Now, the TV comes up with that junk playing. I have tried deleting those channels three times. It keeps coming back like a nightmare. Downloaded a new manual off the Samsung site hoping it would have more information in it, but it doesn't. That manual is hopeless and gives no directions for blocking and/or deleting channels.
In summary:
1) The software becomes corrupted and prevents usual updating.
2) Deleting a TV channel does not do what it is supposed to do, or perhaps the setting is lost every time the TV is powered off? Don't know which it is.
3) Also can't keep the screen from auto-dimming, even though the setting for that is off.
4) Samsung should provide a more in depth manual in its downloads.
The TV does have a picture.

Samsung quality holds true. All great features, including Bluetooth to pair to headphones so not to disturb others. Best buy exclusive 6300 much better than 6200 for the same price. Definitely recommend.

Just a few days after two years old the part that makes it connect to wireless Internet broke.
I would have to pay for repair or to network it.
not what i paid the extra money for.
