I bought this TV as a second TV to use in my bedroom. I also bought it so I can stream BritBox since that no longer works on my older TV. Set up wasn’t as easy or intuitive as I would have liked, but eventually got it done. I’m also not a fan of the complex remote, I prefer the previous, simple remote. All that being said the picture is fabulous, the sound is great, and it’s the perfect size for the bedroom. It looks good on the bookcase which is the perfect height for viewing. It also comes with Samsung TV Plus, which is free and includes an amazing amount of live tv choices, (700!) including PBS, Britbox and Acorn TV. There are crime dramas, nature shows, news programs, weather, and old movies for example, similar to older live TV with commercials. I find myself watching Samsung TV Plus most of the time. I’m really pleased with this TV.

Our 5th Samsung TV over the last 15-20 years...we keep upgrading for size or technology. After six weeks with this one wall-mounted in a kitchen corner, it appears to be just as competent as the rest of them, which range up to a 75" Magnolia-level model. Good sound, good image, no hardware problems. Typical "issues" -- optimal viewing angle is about 45-60 degrees on either direction from head-on at 4' distance. Beyond that some slight degradation is noted in color balance and brightness, not in image quality overall. (Admittedly, we may be sitting too close to the set.) My other complaints apply to all my TV's: menu density is such that it takes, for example, nine or twelve button punches (depending on whether I start at Settings or at Home) on the remote to switch sound output from the device's speakers to Bluetooth. Bixby can alleviate that somewhat on the more upscale sets. It's also disturbing that Samsung doesn't allow for multi-source audio output; i.e., Bluetooth and device speakers simultaneously. Even on our bigger sets, where the option is provided, it never works as advertised when multiple viewers are trying to use different sound sourcepoints. What I'd really like is a way to set user defaults, so when I select myself as the viewer (as on our multi-viewer Netflix menu, for example) all my settings are automatically applied. All in all, we believe we got our money's worth. Got what we paid for?

I loved the color on my prior Toshiba which I had for 13 years, so you can imagine the difference from this 40" to my 37". I purchased Samsung because of it's reputation, but it's been a challenge to familarize myself to the changes, but I'm getting used to it. I was disappointed with the picture until I read some of the other reviews: "Optimal viewing angle is about 45-60 degrees on either direction from head-on at 4' distance. Beyond that some slight degradation is noted in color balance and brightness, not in image quality overall." Until I read this, I thought my TV might be broken. Although one channel has the washed out look even looking straight ahead. I wish the manual mentioned to expect this, I wouldn't have thought there was an issue. The sound is good. Also, the legs were wobbly, so I found a stand on Amazon. I had called Best Buy and I was really surprised they did not carry a pedestal stand or could refer me as to where to purchase one. The good thing is that there are features available to make picture adjustments, but who wants to be constantly making adjustments. I gave 3 stars for brightness because I thought it was too bright, but I was able to to decrease it and adjust the contrast. Still Samsung is still a first class company and you can always call them for assistance.

I needed a TV with brighter image. This one was the best of the ones on display and certainly better than the Hisense that I owned previously. I’m happy with it here at home. Down sides are slow response times in comparison to the a Hisense, no voice remote available. The last is since Samsung has its own operating system, this system is not able to do some things the Hisense could. Overall, the most important thing for me was improved picture quality and I have that with the Samsung.

Surprisingly good TV for the money. Solid 1080p picture quality with nice detailing in highlights and decent blacks (does not have 4K capability). The built-in speaker is perfectly fine, not bad at all. The built-in OS is easy to use for the most part. I'm still using my Roku, however, only because it's a bit faster and more responsive. The TV doesn't seem to mind and offers access to the Roku on the welcome screen, but I'd go with the native OS in a pinch. Also, for some reason I'm finding it necessary to go through three layers of menus to get to the sleep timer. There should be an "express" button for this, preferably on the remote, since many people, including me, will likely be using this as a "bedroom TV." Minor quibbles, though. This is a nice little set for the money.

Quality TV for the price. Great picture, good sound and a newly updated Smart platform. 5 Stars. The remote is from the 1990’s. It is not a smart design. I was expecting the sleek small Samsung remote. Are there options to change the remote? If it is going to have 70% of wasted buttons, it could at lease light up.

For the price, the Samsung smart TV is a great deal! It is a great size and the picture and sound quality are good! One negative you have to watch the TV from the front because the picture is whited out from the side. I also like that Samsung offers free channels on their TV too. The remote is great because it has easy one button push for Netflix, Prime Video, Samsung Tv and YouTube. It is also easy to navigate both the remote and the TV! I would definitely recommend this TV!

Nice clear picture and all around good tv. Like the options that come on very easy to use

I purchased my new Samsung TV primarily because I have another Samsung TV that I've had for years. The older TV still works great and has fantastic color quality. My new model is great, and I appreciate many new updates, but I have one exception: the sleep mode. Setting it up is cumbersome, as there are too many unnecessary steps, in my opinion. If it weren't for this issue, I would have given an overall rating of five stars.

Sometimes i wish TVs werent smart. Only because the main screen has so much that I dont care about. An Apple TV paired with a regular TV is fine but regular tvs are hard to come by. I like that I dont have the Apple TV on the dresser anymore but thats been replaced with rows and rows of unnecessary stuff on my home screen. Dont think the screen is customizable and I guess I know why its not but i do wish my regular tv didnt suddenly shut down. That last 15 years. Hopefully this one can do the same. Also, the remote is the same. Ton of unnecessary buttons and the response time is trash. Thought it may have been batteries so switched from the ones they gave to duracells and still delayed response time. Id recommend if its on sale. Also, if this is the best samsung can do, i wouldnt roll the dice on a lesser known model

Small Television with great resolution, would recommend if you have a small room with little or tight space. Great for the kids or if its just for yourself. This Television is light weight and compact. Very affordable, Easy to install with no hassles. Thanks Best Buy!!!

This product is well made, and with a great performance rate. The picture is very clear and sharp. My applications were easy to load into the menu, and it is very easy to navigate through it all. This Is A Wonderful Product.

Tv was easy to set up. Within 10 minutes it was ready to go with apps added. Picture is nice and sharp.

The TV is great. I love the built in cable channels. It's very user friendly. Only thing I think it needs is more HDMI ports! Overall you can't beat the price for a major brand. Even the warranty was a great value. I would recommend everyone to shop for electronics from Best Buy.

Great buy works perfectly, os is ok free channels, the onlynthing it misses is toslink out for certain speakers

I needed an upgrade for the 15 yr old 32 inch tv belonging to my disabled sister in law. I found a 40inch Samsung for 149.99!? WowWow! She loves it!!

For amoney it is a great set. Able to use Samsung Apps as well as cable programming. Picture is great as well as the sound. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a HD Smart TV 40".

Excellent choice of size for kids! perfect fit for sized room. Look amazing and sleek. I'm satisfied and will definitely go with this option again for 60+ inches!
