Didn't even last a year before issues started
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the screen quality was good at the price when I bought it, under a year I started noticing major grey uniformity issues and lines in the TV. Reached out to Samsung and they sent me to multiple independent TV repair shops that they "partner with" and they all have me excuses ranging from "that's an odd issue, but since it doesn't show up in test patterns I doubt it'll be covered by Samsung" to "I don't see anything wrong with it, that's gonna happen to TV's after awhile". So I call Samsung every week and say I want a replacement or refund so I can purchase a new TV, they literally keep kicking the ball down the road till my warranty runs out and then say I could pay $300 for a new replacement screen. I got the TV on sale for $400 so wasn't going to happen, I've had other Samsung products fail under warranty and have major issues as well. Recommend you stay away from all their TV's, even the Qled's as their warranty is like pulling teeth

Not happy with my purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s pretty funny how this survey came today. I had to take this tv back to have it repaired , I haven’t had it a month. Had I known that the return policy is 15 days I would’ve purchased the protection plan. I think the salespeople should inform the customer about that so it would probably drive them to get a protection plan. Now I gotta go weeks without my brand new tv.

DO NOT BUY
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV, in advance as an Easter present, when I opened it up, 2 months after purchase, the top of the screen was broke! Comparing the serial numbers on the back of the tv to the back of the box, they did not match. Plus the tv was set up for direct tv, I have charter. Upon taking it back to Best Buy, they wouldn’t accept it as it was past their return policy and then told the manager I had set it up and broke it. Horrible customer service, you don’t insinuate the consumer is lying. I’ll bring in my cable bill if you’d like. Samsung would not replace this, as they said I broke it. Interesting how the top could bust when it’s covered in styrofoam. Basically I’m out 350$. Will never buy anything from this store again. I advise all buyers to open it in store and plug it in before you take it home.

Would Purchase It Again in a Heartbeat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two 4K televisions during Black Friday 2017 weekend. This Samsung 40" TV was purchased for my bedroom as I have an armour that won't take a larger TV. I also purchased a 4K LG 55" TV for the living room. This Samsung was the cheaper television. And to my surprise, the entire family thinks this is the superior TV. Both TV's were upgraded from name brand 1080p's. Just that upgrade alone is significant. If you are transitioning to 4K you will not be disappointed. If you are worried about the size being only 40 inches: don't be. I have poor vision. I can actually read the cable guide and subtitles with no problem-something I couldn't do on my former 1080p set. The picture is crisp. The colors are bright. On channels/streams that aren't in 4k it does a terrific job of upscaling. You will see a significant difference in everything you watch if you are going 4K for the first time. I have the optical wired into my receiver with all around Klipsch speakers and a sub. Yes, in the bedroom. I'm a bit of a an audiophile. Yet, I often find myself listening to the speakers in optimized mode on the TV itself. The TV speakers aren't bad. If I had one complaint it would be one of the buttons on the remote takes some effort to engage. That's it. I only paid $299 for this on Black Friday. I have no regrets. I hope you don't either.

Great Picutre and Sound!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV replaced a 28 inch Samsung I had in my bedroom. I was concerned going up to a bigger screen size. I am so glad I did. The picture is crisp. I like the many features - smart features and it tracks the channels I previously watched - very simple to go to my favorite stations. The set up was very easy - tv is lightweight.

Absolutely love it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am in love with this TV! For the price (especially the black friday price), the quality just can't be beat. I don't watch much live TV so I utilize the smart hub features every day. The way that the UI is set up is simple and easy to use. The picture is crisp and sharp with no lag with action scenes. The colors are amazing. I haven't played my PS4 through it yet...and can't wait to see what the picture looks like through the "game" mode. My only complaint is that this model does not come with the smart remote but the manual only shows how to troubleshoot with the smart remote...it doesn't make any sense. (I hooked my wireless keyboard up through the usb ports in the computer to utilize the keyboards and web browser feature)

Just Right 4K Entertainment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an avid gamer and Netflix/YouTube-peruser, I was seeking 4K image detail at an affordable price and this TV ended my search. The size is perfect for our living room and the TV has a central "foot"/stand which I find preferable to the "one-foot-on-each-end" option usually employed with screens this size. Out-of-the-box the image was a bit dark but this was easily remedied after a brief trip into the device's settings (I had previously read that Samsung TV's "tend to run dark".) Colors are lush and bright with no noticeable "pixel-bleed". The 120hz refresh-rate and HDR are both fantastic and the built-in speakers actually provide very solid (if a little thin) sound. The smart-features function exactly as they should and screen-mirroring from other devices such as cell-phones & laptops works well. My only real gripe is with the remote. As others have expressed in their reviews/comments, I found the remote to be cluttered and counter-intuitive. Using it in the dark inevitably leads to erroneous button-presses. Still, 4K @120Hz w/HDR at this price and size is an unbeatable deal--so-much-so that I rarely if-ever see this deal available.

Excellent picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my new TV - Samsung 40MU6290. My only compaint is that I can't get the TV remote to change channels. It only turns it on and off and adjusts the volume. I have to use Verizon's remote to change channels. And, I wish your price-adjustment period was longer. I missed out on a $30 price drop by days. But, it's still a great TV.

Nice TV, gorgeous picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this pretty last minute as our old TV suddenly developed major issues, and this one was on a great sale. I did what research I could beforehand, and it was accurate that this is a great TV. The picture and color are incredible and accurate, and there are "expert settings" to tweak pretty much everything. One thing to tweak, for anyone moving up to this type of TV, is the Motion Smoothing to get rid of the "Soap Opera Effect." It's apparently really great for sports, but I rarely ever watch sports, so I shut it off. Another useful tip I found online, if when you put the stand together and install it the TV is totally leaning, just take it all apart and try again. I don't have a lot of room, so I laid the TV's box down and set the TV on there to have a good flat surface to make sure the pieces were put together just right. And speaking of, this TV is SO light!! I think it lists as 17 pounds. I had forgotten how heavy our last 37" was until I tried to move it into the other room after moving this new one around so easily. It's not a perfect TV, but most of my issues are just getting used to the UI, which I'm sure will become more natural over time. One annoyance, however, is that it sticks a stupid "sponsored ad" between your sources and the apps you have… I can see on the cheap Amazon devices, sure, I pay less and know I'm getting advertising on the screen. But I paid for this TV, that needs to be removable… (this is apparently a complaint that has been around with Samsung TVs for a couple years at least)

Awesome picture!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV during the black Friday weekend for $299.99, a complete steal for the value. I was looking for a replacement TV for my bedroom, and this is the perfect size. I was putting off upgrading to 4K, but I couldn't pass up the price. Connecting my cable box and Blu-Ray player was a breeze and the on screen menus are straightforward. Pictures come to life with this TV!! You can't go wrong with this purchase!! My only complaint is that the source button the remote doesn't seem to work. I have to go through the setup process again to change the input. Guess I got a defective remote and need to get a replacement. :(

Great TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also own an older Samsung 6100 series and the picture quality of this one blows the 6100 away. I like the UI on the 6100 better though. This one seems a little more complicated with plain looking monotones throughout. I wish it was a little more intuitive and aesthetically pleasing, but the UI is functional. The remote is ridiculous. There are way too many small buttons packed into an already small remote. It's easy to push something unintentionally and almost impossible to memorize by feel in the dark. As for the real important stuff like performance and picture quality, it's an excellent unit.

Good tv for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV as part of a pre-Black Friday deal for $299. It’s a nice 4K tv for the money and is great for a small room/bedroom. The picture quality is good, and my only 2 complaints are: 1) the colors get washed out when viewing from off-axis (top/bottom/side), and 2) the stand does not allow the TV to swivel.

Amazing 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for an inexpensive 4K television and came across this model. It was offered at a price that I could not pass up and decided to make the purchase. Glad I did! This TV has excellent color and is 4K brilliance at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this set to anyone looking to upgrade their TV but not break the bank!

Great TV and very affordable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are a lot of reviews here and there about this particular Samsung TV and on top of all of them, I found this TV very affordable based on it’s functionality and it does almost everything you expect from a new 4K platform TV serious (except a few which is only available on premium sets). The picture quality is on top of the chart and I am saying this because I upgraded from a Samsung full HD to this one and right away I noticed the differences in picture quality. It’s almost good and ready to use out of the box but I did some tweaks to make the picture quality even better including turning the HDR on. The sound is powerful enough so for someone like me who uses this TV inside a bedroom, there is no need of any sound bars or audio auxiliary connections. And finally I use all available 3 hdmi ports and I am happy that this TV has enough HDMI for me but I’m not using it as a monitor so if you happened to use this TV as a monitor just be aware of the fact that this TV has only one practical HDMI port for 60hz monitor connection and if you connect the right one, you should be able to experience nice picture quality, but don’t forget that on the setup you have to make some changes as well. Overall very happy customer and definitely recommend this TV to anyone.
