    open box excellent with missing cables & Manual.

    I ordered open box excellent condition, but got delivered with missing two power cables and user guide. I have to return with no other choice. It's a waste of time ordering, opening the box, figuring out the missing parts, repacking, and return to the store. I don't know what will be in Open-Box Satisfactory & Open-Box Fair.

      Thank you for sharing your review of the Samsung HW-Q850A Soundbar. We value your feedback regarding the sound performance of your soundbar. You can try manually optimizing your audio experience by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (looks like a gear) to access the setting items such as AVA, TREBLE, BASS, SYNC, CENTER LEVEL, SIDE LEVEL, FRONT TOP LEVEL, REAR LEVEL, REAR TOP LEVEL, and VIRTUAL ON/OFF. The selected item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons.

      – To control the volume of the treble or bass sound, select TREBLE or BASS in Sound Settings, and then adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      – Press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.)

      – To control the volume of each speaker, select CENTER LEVEL, SIDE LEVEL, or FRONT TOP LEVEL in Sound Settings, and then adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      – If Surround Speakers are connected, select REAR LEVEL and then use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.

    Purchased July 2021. Already serviced once for the subwoofer going out and now the same thing is happening again and will need to be serviced again. Not a product I would want to hold out of warranty.

    Great product. Sound bar is really good quality. Subwoofer works very well especially with music. I do however wish that the rear 2 speakers were more notecable. It is more expensive then it should be though.

    They keep crackling and sound all distorted. Everything I read says it’s a connection issue. I’ve assured the connection is perfect and I can’t win with these things $800 for a headache

    Pretty descent Soundbar

    The Samsung 850A soundbar is down right awesome when playing movies in Dolby Atmos. Surround effects are awesome. However,the surround rear speakers are dissapointing. The sound from the rear speakers are very low and i can barely hear anything from them, even when I change all the settings to make it work. Pros for me are; . Awesome room filling sound when watching movies in dobly atmos. . its very loud. I barely pass level 20 on the volume. . Voice is pretty clear. You dont have to struggle to hear what is being said. Cons for me; . Had challenges setting up the soundbar. instructions poor. . Weak rear speakers. Volume too low. . Anything outside of dolby atmos doesnt sound that great . Bass need some more power. For such a big box, you dont get that heavy punch from the subwoofer. Hoping samsung can add a firmware update to allow more.bass in the subwoofer.

    Great sound from a great looking sound bar. It comes with the rear speakers that claim to be wireless but obviously need to be hooked to the wireless module in order to function and the wireless module needs to be plugged into the wall. Fortunately for me I have a small enclosure in the back of my living room for storage. That's where I put the wires and the wireless module and then mounted the rear speakers to the front of the rear wall. Install was easy as with most sound bars. Just install the mounts on the wall and connect. As I said, the rear speakers do have wires that you may need to hide. Also you'll need a place to plug in the wireless module. The settings took some time to get adjusted, just like any speaker set up but once I got them tuned in it sounds quite good with being able to hear just the right amount of bass and highs from the front and just the right amount of sound coming from the rear speakers. This is my first sound bar with atmos (minus the rear speakers) and I can honestly say this is my favorite sound bar I have owned. It provided a noticeable difference from my current LG. This sound bar offers immersive and powerful performance. Action movies sound amazing and music is enjoyable. It has Alexa built in which we don't use but you can "turn off" the microphone. I wish there was a way to control settings thru the samsung app but I have not figured that out yet. Maybe thru an update? All in all this is a well built, fine looking sound bar that offers a very robust sound that utilizes atmos and rear speakers to produce amazing effects. I would highly recommend this to you if you're looking to upgrade your sound bar.

    I have a home theater (front projector with 7.1 sound system). This replaces most of the wiring with fewer cables and same sound quality. The wireless feature is semi-wireless because it needs a base for the rear speakers. The woofer can get distortion at max volume but most woofer in this price range do. The set up is tricky since the instructions are not very extensive but as with most Samsung items, it can be downloaded from their site. Sound quality and build are top notch and come with a nice remote. I hanged my speakers to the wall since I have a home theater in my basement, This nice system needs the right room to have the best sound immersion.

    All i can say is...wow! This sounbar was so easy to set up and my smart things app picked it right up. the sound is unbelievable, especially coming from a lower tier soundbar. The subwoofer is amazing and provides a true theater like experience. I highly recommend it and also I find the adaptive mode to work fantastic. You will never miss a word. Thank you samsung for another great product!

    Rear speakers quiet

    Installation and set up was easy; all the speakers sound great except for the rear speakers.. is there a reason for this? The rear speakers are on but they are very quiet. I have messed with the settings and turned the rear speakers all the way up and I can still barely hear them. What can I do to fix this?

      By design, the surround speakers are supposed to simulate sounds happening behind the viewer. Therefore, most of the time the surround channels are only used for ambient sounds, which are naturally lower in volume.

      I see that you have already tried increasing rear level output, but I did want to share the following adjustments with you, just in case:
      Using your soundbar remote, you can control the volume level of the rear speakers. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.

      Also, make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote. If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote.

    A Nice Experience

    First off I am no audiophile but I do know when something is pleasant and enjoyable and that is tbis bar. My wife and I found this on sale and had been discussing a new soundbar as my Vizio, which has served me well, was about 8 years old. Upon first setup it wasnt great. The surround was iffy at best with very little subwoofer action even though it was maxed out in settings. When i pressed info on my TV, it kept showing stereo content on both the internal netflix app as well as when my xbox was connected. After doing a little research i found the settings on my TV to allow atmos and also made the adjustments on my xbox for gaming and the difference is uncanny. I am thoroughly impressed with this setup. I had to back the bass off and turn the sub down. The surround on this unit is seamless. Atmos content sounds fantastic and yes you can hear the sounds from above and the bass is really punchy. With the sub behind my couch the experience is very cool. For those who have complaints, contact your TV manufacturer to help you with sound settings to allow dolby digital.

    Excellent condition open box item- NOT A GOOD DEAL

    This is a review regarding the purchase, not the item as I have NO idea how it sounds. Purchased the item open box in excellent condition. Parents picked it up as I live far away for the best buy location. Parents didn't know what to look for so the item was incomplete. Only the subwoofer and sound bar were included. No rear channel speakers, no cords, no remote, no control station. Called three times to see if they had the other parts in their warehouse. Talked to customer service and left message with the manager of the store. Never heard back. Had to drive 1.5 hours each way to return the item. Bummed thought I was getting a good deal on an open box item. But ended up spending over four hours of time talking to customer service and returning the item. LAME!

    Had the 60 series Harman Kardon edition and absolutely loved it. The sub blew after a year and upgraded to the 850a. 850a sounds great except for the bass, as it's lacking. I'm not sure why the cheaper system had a much louder subwoofer than the more expensive one, but I'll be bringing it back

      There are two adjustments that can be made to maximize bass from the soundbar and subwoofer:
      1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the level between -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.

      2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.
