Great soundbar, underwhelming upper channel Atmos

It handles both movies and music very well. While the directional addition with Atmos is pretty great, the upward firing speakers are rather underwhelming. I don't feel like they add too much to the soundbar. The wiring of the rear surround speakers are also a little annoying.

We now that, "going to the theater", sound every time we watch a movie. There was street scene during this one film we were watching and you could hear all of the background sounds with crystal clarity, the horns honking, traffic noises, non-recognizable conversations; as if we were really there... It doesn't get any better than that!!!!!!

I was sold on it as a easier way to replace a traditional full surround sound system. I’m still tweaking things but the trouble is balancing the speakers across different platforms. Each time we switch from live TV, Netflix, or Blu-ray, it sounds totally different.

We just moved and I wanted to add this to our previous purchase of a Samsung smart TV several years ago. This bar truly is amazing. I'm sure you can spend more and get more volume if that is what you are looking for. But the response is excellent, the bass is very good, and we are totally happy with this bar.

My old Yamaha stereo receiver was too big to fit in my new unit so...off to my local Best Buy. I bought a new receiver and tried to get the Samsung Soundbar to work together with it. It doesn't work. Simple explanation - both the Samsung soundbar and any amplifier/receiver want to be in control. This soundbar is what is considered "Active" not "Passive. If this had been a passive system (just speakers) then I could have used the soundbar to replace my front L, R, center speaker, rear L, rear R, and subwoofer. However, it does work seamlessly with my Samsung TV. So I plugged all my components directly into my TV with the Samsung soundbar connected to my TV's HDMI ARC connection. This did the trick. The only thing I lose is the option to use the radio which I mostly stream Pandora and Spotify anyway. In the end, I returned the stereo receiver and only use the Samsung now. This works well and I have been pleasantly surprised with the sound quality. The wireless rear speakers work much better than I expected. I would totally recommend this for people looking to make their surround sound system clean and minimalistic, especially where space is tight. Just make sure that your TV has an HDMI ARC jack. This jack allows the sound from all your components to pass through the TV to the soundbar and surround sound speakers.
