The sound bar did not integrate with my Samsung TV remote, I had to use yet another remote to control the volume of my AV set up. The sound was pretty shallow too. This soundbar is a real step up from the built in TV set up, but my AV receiver / speakers / sub are way better.

I returned this item to BestBuy. Not sure if it was the design, or a defect in this particular unit, but the volume get going up and down, from soft to extremely loud. It was a store return, that was supposed to have been tested to insure it was perfect, but that was obviously not the case. Back it went with me telling the store the problem, so hopefully they repaired it before someone else purchased it.

    Lip sync error

The sound is very good, you have to familiarize yourself with the remote to access all the features to utilize sound features. For example, for me I had to increase the "MS" to make the bass bumps higher, afterwards sounds legit and treble is decent. My 2 hour issue was lip sync error, most times slightly off and one other time grossly off? In short, I had an optical cable, then later used an Ethernet cord from my cable box to the TV as well as the optical, immediately took care of the lip sync issue. If you use HDMI cable make sure its HDMI supporting Ethernet or it will not work, of course this wasn't included and after google searches, figured that out (OMG). Good luck and hope this helped.

I recently went into Best Buy to get my computer fixed while waiting to get help I was browsing through the store and came across this sound bar! I was blown away and had to get it! I currently have the Bose home theater system and the Samsung sound bar blew the Bose out of the water and under half the price! Now the Bose is up at our cabin and the sound bar is at our home! Very pleased!

Received this sound bar as a throw in on a Samsung UHD tv we bought. Didn't use it right away because we bought a sonos system for our TV. Just hooked it up to another tv and there's a short in the wire. The sound cuts in and out, but it's too late to take it back. Would have been really angry if I really paid for it. Buy a different sound bar.

I bought this soundbar system for my parents; a nice Christmas gift since last year, I got them a t.v -- figured I'd upgrade their sound, too. Anyway, the unboxing was easy, and setup was incredibly easy; most if not all Samsung products are very easy to setup, so thank you Samsung for keeping up with that trend. When the bar was on, the subwoofer did turn on as well (it's a wireless subwoofer, and this is perfect since it's about 6 feet from the television, and behind the couch, and no cables as present except for a power adapter). The system came with an optical cable, which by the way, your t.v should have an optical port on the back to connect to. This is great; however for the best sound -- it is best to have an HDMI cable, instead. Though, if your TV does NOT have an HDMI ARC input on it -- HDMI is useless. This means that, the HDMI ARC allows for sound to pass through that port specifically. Check your TV manual, or look at the back of your television to make sure you can get the optimum sound, otherwise, you can connect with the optical cable provided. My parents do not have HD cable (I tried to convert them) so it's rather difficult to tell how live broadcasts are for sound. Yet, using the bluray player through this is great. I tested MAD MAX FURY ROAD for sound, and it was ridiculous. Cannot tell that much with sound, with the optical cable versus an HDMI cable installed. However, I'd still encourage the use of HDMI. It's easy to program; you can turn the bar off with the power on and off button; though sound controls are "eh." There are a vast array of settings for sound features (such as cinema, sports etc.) Yet, the best use is by messing around with the treble and bass controls to find your liking. Overall, it sounds ok; at times, it still sounds muffled and the sound doesn't seem to carry out and around as much. Again, that could be the issue with the cable my parents typically use, but bluray film watching might be best to get the full sound features.

I purchased a Vizio TV and along with that i wanted to get rid of my home theater system and get one of the "new" sound bar, well since I had got a Vizio TV i thought why no match the sound bar.. WRONG!! We went through TWO Vizio sound var system before just randomly getting the Samsung 500 series and I am totally impressed!! Now this is my 3rd sound bar system I have owned (2 previous Vizio) but the Samsung is incredible!! The adjustments from treble to sub woofer to complete setups such as "movie", "rock" etc.. are spot on. We have ours roughly 8ft from our viewing area and can't go over volume level 15 and the system goes to 30. We've also had complaints from our neighbors while watching Fast 7 because off the bass. I would highly recommend this system to anyone in the market!!

Great sound but DirecTV remotes can't control it

Love the sound quality and the very low profile of this sound bar. The subwoofer does its job adequately as well. Very easy setup. Overall a great package for the reasonable price. I dropped one star on this review solely because Samsung doesn't provide a programming code to allow the DirecTV remotes control of this sound bar. I have the DirecTV RC65 remote, tried easily a dozen plus Samsung programming codes, scoured the web, manuals, forums, DirecTV guides. No success.

I got this unit back in November and its a great addition to our living space. I currently have a 60 inch TV but the sound before wasn't up to par. If you are like me you would have to rewind movies because there would be parts you just couldn't make out the dialogue but with new sound bar the problem is resolved. Only problem is that sometimes the video and audio don't match up. Its the only thing keeping my review from being 5 stars.

      Jason,

Try the "Sound Control" button on the remote control. It will allow you to adjust the treble, bass and audio delay. With the audio delay option, you should be able to easily sync up your audio.

We appreciate your support of Samsung products.

$189 is a good price for a sound bar and wireless subwoofer. Setup was easy enough. Auto on-off doesn't appear to be working with my 6 year old Samsung TV but I think connecting an HDMI cable in addition to the optical cable ought to fix that. Sound quality is a substantial improvement over the tinny TV speakers.
