Awesome tv, best plasma ive owned. I did return this tv, however it was only so i could purchase the 64" version. Everything is perfect except 2 things: the tv stand is not right for this tv, needs to be mounted on the wall, period. 2: the infamous buzz sound. Im not sure why it does this bur both tvs did so i assume thats just the way tge tv is. Dont like that at all, but not enough to give the tv up. I use loud surround sound anyway so i barely notice.

the 8000 is a just short of great tv. it is satisfying tho. also its the first plasma i've own. bought my wife a samsung led 7100 series the same day, gotta tell you the playback of bluray movie on her set are vastly superior to my plasma. 3D hurts my eyes and is a little hard to get dialed in. i paid 2300 for it before best buy dropped it down to 1899. movies and regular tv still have sort of a gloss look to them like we all grew up with.can't say picture depth is great but its pretty good. but on on my wife's led its down right eeriely awesome so clear and full of detail u think you were right on set with the actors i kid you not. still i like it gloss and all. netflix and vudu look better streamed thru my PS3 tho. the main selling point for me was the critics at Sound & Vision high review and the way the software can be updated online just like my PS3. one other thing that i don't like is with fast movement i.e. football or wrestling the picture tends to artifact badly. dont know to adjust for that. at least the picture is never too dark as i heard plasmas tend to be

I bought this flat TV right at the end of the 2012 Black Friday sale after doing a ton of research. It pretty much had everything I was looking for and a few extras. I could have gotten the Panasonic but this had better 3D and I watch TV in the dark anyway. This is perfect for movie lovers and game lovers as well with #D capability (PS3, XBOX 360)

I always research anything before I buy and then often have buyers remorse after I buy something... I keep looking for validation that I made the right purchase. I always save everything so I can take it back if I'm unhappy. Thought that was going to be the case at first... The buzz, A lot of people complain about the buzz on plasma's, especially on the Samsung's. Knowing that people who are unhappy leave more reviews than happy people I decided to take a chance and check it out. The buzz was noticeable at first, beyond noticeable, I could hear it over my very high end speakers. I decided to leave the tv on and run some errands and when I came back the buzz was gone. Samsung claims you shouldn't be able to hear the buzz past 4ft and I was sitting 15ft away. I heard stories of some who had returned 3-4 tvs before they got one without the buzz. The Picture, Amazing picture. There is a glare from my patio door but curtains do the trick. You can up the brightness of the picture and you can also up the plasma cell brightness too. The tv is set up to run in the store so it looks like caca. I changed mine to movie mode and adjust some brightness and saturation. Though even movie mode was pretty close to perfect for me. I would do this with a bluray as even hd tv doesn't come close to the quality. HBO has a several free 3D movies On Demand and I was shocked at how good the 3D was. I wasn't even going to get a 3D tv as I generally think it's just a gimmick but I'm starting to come around. The 3D glasses that came with it our comfortable but there's a slight glare from our refacing patio door, and they're only 20$ a pair at BB so not a fortune to get more. The Smart tv, The tv detected my wifi and connected in a matter of seconds. I read somewhere that if you hard wire the tv to the internet that it will act an extender and broadcast your signal. The apps are pretty quick and responsive though I haven't used them too much yet. I turned off Voice Control because it kept activating from various actors voices from the TV. I would never use this feature anyway as the Kinect has the same problem. Haven't tried motion control and likely won't . The remote that comes with it (actually there's two) is nice but I have URC 780 remote and the tv responds nicely to it. The second remote is a touch pad of sorts.. haven't tried it, think it's meant to be a mouse for the web browser. The tv also comes with a blue tooth connector for the 3d glasses, pop the batteries in, press a button and your all set..... since I never read instructions I didn't understand why my glasses weren't working until I did that. :) The Sound, The sound is fine I suppose. I have this tv in a home theater set-up so I don't use the tv sound. Though one thing I didn't take into account is that the tv, apps, browser, etc all have sound coming from the tv NOT from my receiver. I'm sure I can run a cable through the wall from the tv to the receiver to fix this. Not a fault of the tv's just an observation. I'm very happy with the tv. I like that it came with magnets to wrap around the cables to stop distortion. Which may have been the cause of the buzz now that I think about it. I almost got an LED but there just wasn't enough evidence to support that it's better... quite the opposite. Plasma's have unlimited viewing angle, deeper blacks, richer colors, they're cheaper, and the cell shading can be defined down to a pixel versus an led which shades quadrants. Just my two cents. Any tv you get will look amazing just splitting hairs really. Almost forgot.. video games on here are awesome. Haven't had any burn in and I played for about three hours straight. Burn in is never permanent anyway.

    Best TV of 2012!!!

I purchased this TV a few weeks ago and wanted to test it out before I wrote a review and I have seen enough, this TV is amazing! I previously owned the Samsung 2010 58c8000 and then the 2011 59d8000 and I must say this takes the prize. I absolutely loved last years model(pn59D8000), which buy the way came in #2 as best TV of the year(CNET), the only TV that beat it cost around $6000 and was said to just barely beat out the Samsung...That aside, this TV has everything that last year model had plus it has a built in HD camera(adjustable), dual core processor, it's slimmer, lighter, has a ton more features, gesture control, face recognition, voice control and it's future proof. That's right, Samsung has added a new feature this year that enables this TV to upgrade to next years features without having to buy a new TV, all you have to do is purchase a piece of hardware that plugs in to the back of this TV and replaces the old one giving you the new years features and speeds, thanks Sammy! On top of all this Samsung increased the black levels by 10% giving you levels so deep you'll wonder why LED's are still on the market. All around this TV trumps any other out and has a reasonable price that makes it this years best buy, sure you can wait for the new Panasonics to come out that may be a couple hundred dollars cheaper, but they wont have Samsungs sleek look as well as all the features they packed in this year and their outstanding customer support. By the way, have you noticed that every time you see a Panasonic on display it's always in 3D mode, which you'll use maybe 5% of the time? What's wrong Panasonic, no faith in your regular picture compared to the Samsung right next to it? On top of that the design of it looks cheap and dated with it's huge bezel and molded plastic compared to Samsung's brushed metal slim bezel on it's plasma screens, but I'm sure they'll try to copy this look. So basically this TV is the best out for the dollar and you won't be sorry upon purchasing. Another note to clear up an issue I have been seeing: Yes, this TV fully works with your surround sound?Home Cinema. I saw reviews saying it doesn't work and it absolutely does, I have it hooked up to my Harman Kardon receiver right now and it definitely works with Netflix, Pandora, everything. They must just have it hooked up incorrectly. Last note: Please stop giving bad reviews to Samsung TV's with built in camera because you feel you're being watched, they made it so you can flip the camera shut if you're paranoid. Hope this helps future buyers, DJ

    Excellent TV

When I setup this set with my home theater I had some misconceptions. I was thrilled to think that the TV had a 5.1 output so that I would not have to route the HDMI cables through my receiver. This is not the case. Once I read the manual the optical output on the TV is a 2.0 stereo output only. The smart remote is great, almost. It controls my Dish receiver well and the blue ray player. Paired with the IR blaster it works great, except it will not control a stereo receiver. It will only control the TV, a set top box, & a BlueRay player/DVD. Huge disappointment as I was starting to like the smart remote. The picture and 3D are amazing. Picture is crisp and clear, you can set the brightness for the room that you are in. The 3D set up is a snap. I have not been able to setup the voice control and have not tried the motion control In all great TV. There are some things that I would change and others that I will not use. But I bought the set for the picture quality and the 3D and those are EXCELLENT.

    Overall Excellent Purchase

Like all consumers, read that plasma and this Samsung model was top of the line when it came to viewing picture quality. It did not disappoint but some features did. Overall, I’m very happy with the purchase and its performance so far. The plasma is used in a man-cave setup in the finished basement where it is typically dark/ dim with most of the viewing done at night so I do not typically have the glare problems. GOOD: Amazing viewing in HD, 3D, etc. Has all 3 current 3D viewing modes (frame packing, side-by-side, top-bottom) and comes with 2 glasses. Easy wireless internet setup that actually has a 5GHz wireless N antenna (impressive). Relatively easy setup for the remotes and IR Blaster to work with your cable provider universal remote (Comcast/ Infinity in my case). There are 4 preset Picture Modes (Dynamic, Standard, Relax, Movie) with the Movie mode giving the best mode (professional-like calibration quality, more on this later) out-of-the-box. Numerous user picture quality adjustments (close to 20+) if you know exactly what you are doing. The Evolution Kit Slot for (hopefully) future proofing your purchase. Online software updates for your TV and apps. BAD: Sound quality from the internal speakers are average at best but expected as the TV is so slim it would be impossible to house quality speakers! I am typically using the TV as a monitor when watching shows/ movies with my surround sound setup. Initially, it sounded like I was listening to a TV show (Warehouse 13) in a can but I guess it took time to get used to the TV speakers. I would not rely on the SPDIF output for Dolby, DTS, etc because it will more than likely be grayed out (except for PCM). I use my surround sound receiver as it was meant. Web browsing is definitely a task-and-a-half with the provided standard remote and frustrating with the Smart Touch Control. I do not use them much at all except to switch to 3D mode for 3D content. UGLY: The Voice and Motion Control is simply a novelty, I do not use it although I tried but using the remote (Comcast or TV universal remote) is simply faster. I turned the features off as you will inadvertently activate Voice/ Motion commands which will interfere with whatever you are trying to watching. SUMMARY: My review is pretty much based on the picture quality viewing, picture features and its inputs and not on the sound and the advertised gimmick features. I picked up this TV on an amazing sale ($2100) BB had at the time so it may be influencing my review. I did pay for a professional ISF certified calibration as I saw it as an investment in its longevity in addition to its picture quality but I did feel somewhat cheated when I realized the Movie mode was pretty darn close to the calibrated setting. You will not be disappointed with this plasma TV unless you rely on the sound or gimmicks to be on the same level as the picture viewing.

This is an improvement over the previous PND8000. No buzz. Amazing picture. HD OTA or satellite is amazing. Good sound. Internet connectivity is superb. Samsung apps are better organized. Dont forget 3D too. Voice activated. Face recognition. Beats its competitors hands down.

I traded in an LG 55" LM7600 LED because of a ghosting issue unresolved by its higher 240hz refresh rate. Instead I bought this wonderful 60" plasma. I've heard about some issues with reflection, heat, and buzzing but I have experienced none of these things. The TV has a shiny screen that can be reflective on a totally black screen. But as soon as there is a picture there's no problem. Picture is beautiful with deep blacks and a 600hz refresh rate totally eliminating any ghosting effects. Couldn't be happier.

I chose Samsung for a few reasons.... One was the technology and the features that are coming out on some of the new models. Now i was torn between a Plasma, LED and LCD.......I hear all these great things about LED and just like the other persons review, I too was going to Best Buy to purchase a LED TV. I asked the Sales person "whats the best TV?" and he brought me into the Magnolia area and my jaw hit the floor when I saw this TV. The picture was great and the features blew me away. I had to have this TV and I did not even want to look at a LED or LCD TV after that. Easter arrives, I have family over and the first thing I do is give everyone a demo.....Then my wife reminds me we have Skype on the TV so we call other Family members around the country using the TV. It was awesome to be able to share the Holiday with all my family members. If your looking for a full featured Television then look no further...Samsung hit the ball out the park with this one.The 3D, the Smart hub, Skype and all the other features are great. You will not be sorry you purchased this Television...

This is my 2nd major HDTV purchase. My first was about 6yrs ago, and it was a Mitshubishi DLP. It was a great TV. This time around I though for sure I would buy a LED. I didn't really know much about them, just had heard all the hype and they are first TV's that catch your eye when you walk in a store. I knew I wasn't going to get a plasma or so I thought. Once I started doing my research about LED and Plasma TV's, I started to lean more towards the Plasma. It was still a hard purchase because in the stores the LED's look so bright and beautiful. I trusted my research and bought the Plasma TV and I am so happy I did. Put it in my basement and it looks amazing. Best picture I've ever seen. Looks great with the basement dark or lit up. The 3D looks amazing also. I am so happy with my purchase, and to think I was going to by a LED TV that would cost me about $1,000-$1,200 more for the same size TV.

I have now had both the Samsung 60" LED (UN60D8000) as well as this Samsung 60" Plasma (PN60E8000) in my home. The Plasma wins out big time. Overall the look of the Plasma is terrific. The picture quality if fantastic. I cannot imagine it being better and I am a tough critic. No issues with artifacting, ghost images or blurring. It handles fast action movies and sports with ease. There is a small buzzing sound that comes from the bottom center but can only be heard when the TV is muted. The Black levels are amazing on this TV as are the overall colors. When you adjust the TV settings to fit the lighting in your home it makes the picture stand out. Whether it be High Def Direct TV or a Blu Ray, this picture quality is top notch. The "Hi TV" features do not work as well as advertised. However, overall I am very pleased with this TV and happy that I chose it instead of the LED.

Bought this tv to replace my sony 52 inch lcd... I did a lot of research between this plasma and the panasonic gt50. Both tv 's were very impressive looking in the store but we decided on the samsung. Great tv overall, the picture is absolutely amazing, no loud buzzing sound what so ever from the tv you have to put your ear right on the tv to hear a very very low buzzing. The regular remote is nice, don't know about the speakers since this tv is hooked up to our hometheater system. The smart features are cool but I really don't use them at all.. smart hub is nice, touchpad remote has a bit of a learing curve but it's pretty cool, not sure how much I am going to use the remotes gecause I have a Harmony remote... overall great tv, great picture.

Bought this after I went in to buy the led 8000. After seeing the picture on this set I changed my mind and got the plasma. The colors are much better on this set. The black color on the led looked washed out. I have not set up the voice or gesture controls as I use a Harmony One remote with a surround system. I used the television sound for the first week and decided to use the surround for all my components. Much better.

Some of the features on this TV are quite impressive and the picture is amazing. You would think Samsung would spend a wee-bit more attention to the audio quality. Maybe they think everyone is going to hook this up to a 5.1 or 7.1 system and there is no need to have good native sound. Well Samsung you are wrong. There are many, including me, that sometimes just like to play the sound for normal TV through the TV speakers....and yours need improvement. I resisted buying a Plasma for the past 10 years because of burn-in issues...I am hoping and praying that I don't encounter any. Otherwise, this is a great TV
