Great Picture

The picture is stunning especially when viewing a 4K signal (Netflix) and the upscaling from 1080P (Netflix) is also great. The picture from a 1080i local cable company is disappointing but I am convinced that is an ongoing cable quality issue. The SmartTV feature is not as "smart" as I had hoped. While I have been able to connect with my home wireless network and stream broadcast signals (Netflix, YouTube, PBS) I have not had good success viewing pictures from my computer (Windows Vista operating system). I have been unable to connect an Apple iPhone or Motorola Android phone via Wi-Fi Direct or across our home wireless network. Samsung Smart View App 2.0 is suppose to be the solution but it does not work either (may require Windows 7/8 operating system to work properly). This is a major disappointment because I had expected to be able to share family photos/videos on the big screen.

I now have 3 Samsung HD TV's in my home of various sizes. This 65 inch Curved set is excellent and produces a great picture. However the curved aspect of the design seems to be more of a sales pitch than an actual benefit. The picture on the set at the store was superior compared to all sets around it with the film they projected. I did not find that to be replicated at home. The claimed depth of perception with the curved feature did not seem to add any real dimension to the projected views. Thus I may well have paid $1,000 more than a comparable Samsung without the curved feature. I am disappointed in that result, but I love the size and other features provided in this set. However, I would only recommend the set when it is priced more closely to a non-curved set.

This TV is excellent, stellar curved design is really amazing, and I have had no problems with it so far (I got it about two months ago, so still brand new). However, I think the TV is technologically ahead of itself with the 4K Ultra HD part, seeing as it is somewhat a challenge to find anything in 4K at this time, exempt for an occasional Youtube video? Come on. I guess I'll just have to wait a couple years to get the most out of this TV, but at least I"m ahead of the curve, haha, get it?

I bought this TV five weeks ago, as an upgrade from an ancient Vizio 50" plasma.....Literally the first Vizio I had ever encountered.
I had seen the 4k televisions on display in the stores and was blown away by the incredible picture details,
(of the display footage) as I am sure you were too. I knew I had to have that clarity in my life, and so began the long process of researching what is out there, what are the features.....the costs....all aspects of things a person should know before buying something like this.
UNFORTUNATLY the information I'm about to put into this review, and the blatantly honest way I'll do it, were not available to me. Instead I got to read a bunch of vague 'thumbs up' reviews and compare meaningless tech specs that look great on paper but fall down in the real world......where things actually matter to us.
This TV has allot of potential, and if Samsung continues to work on and upgrade the software then perhaps at some point in the future this will finally become the television I thought I was buying. Right now IT IS NOT.
Samsung is known as a WORLD LEADER in picture quality and this can be witnessed by you first hand in any store that has their models displayed alongside other manufacturers products. (though I will say despite having some bad years Visio is getting good again)
They ARE a world leader and produce some amazing 1080 sets.....I'll endorse those based on ones I don't own, but am regularly exposed to. For this TV, continue reading.....
For picture clarity based on what I saw in stores I knew I wanted either a Samsung or Visio. I know Visio had been plagued by reliability issues in the past few years, and although I had been VERY happy with my old one, I allowed this to push me towards the Samsung.
-The television Looks great......not while on, but just sitting there.....which does me no good at all
-The curved screen does nothing to improve actual viewing and is explained at some point in the literature as 'working to reduce the reflection of room items'.....this is false. It actually acts as a reflectance/glare intensifier, and anything reflected shows up as a band across the entire width of the screen.
-4k content is more rare than endangered species at the moment, and as expensive. No problem, Right? you'll just keep watching all the SD and HD content you've spent your life acquiring and be ready for all the 4k when it is available......WRONG
About half of the stuff I have -1080 and BlueRay- can be watched at full screen, with a reduction of quality. The other half despite still being 1080 has to have the screen reduced to about 48"......defeating the purpose of this TV.
Anything LESS than a 1080 signal is pretty much UN-WATCHABLE.
-If the Samsung AUTO settings are left enabled then NOTHING is watchable. Through sheer stubbornness and perhaps a touch of undiagnosed O.C.D. I refused to believe this TV couldn't provide a good picture, and so spent several days of vacation sitting at home going through the ridiculous amount of settings tweaking each manually to get the picture quality I now have.
My favorite things to watch are Top Gear with fast moving cars, Nature documentaries, Actin films and shows, etc. None of witch work with the factory motion settings.
-Don't even think of playing a game on this. Whether on console or hooked to a High end PC they look bad. Enough said.
-It has the worst WIFI I've experienced yet. I have Cable High-speed with a minimum of 50mbs through a doc3 modem and a netgear Nighthawk 802.11AC router. It is centrally located in my house and has excellent performance. Full signal anywhere on my property and I can even detect it with my phone from my grandmothers house several blocks away. The TV, though a mere 25feet away, has trouble sometimes. I therefore find myself having to stop mid-show and switch to the Wi-Fi on my ancient Sony blue ray player. (about 8 years old)
-The User interface......
I don't like it, perhaps you would???
I do not have cable or dish. I don't like most of what is available and so I stream.....I have an Amazon Library, a Netflix account, and watch other streamed shows.
If I do decide to watch something over the air from a local station it is 50/50 as to whether I will have to run auto-program to pick it up or not. Very annoying that a TV can't even be just a TV.
The 'smart hub' functions are limited compared to other products. You don't get allot.
The onboard browser would be brilliant except for the poor onboard Wi-Fi. So that is frustrating as well, but less of an issue for me....I don't need to browse on the TV anyhow.
For Amazon users......This screen is large enough to display a good portion of your library to choose from.....unfortunately the Samsung app. only displays large tiles across the screen......5 at a time I think, forcing you to scroll endlessly to find what you want to the yet un-mentioned remote.
Netflix and YouTube are the same. POOR Layout, and I have found no way as of yet to change it.
The REMOTE.....
You know how annoying it is when you have to use a computer with a defective mouse? one where the cursor skips across the screen or jumps from one position unexpectedly to another? inevitably causing you to click on things you didn't want to? You then have to go back, wait for the previous screen to load so that you can try again.......
Imagining that gives you a perfect understanding of the remote this TV comes with. It is quite small and that is nice. There are only a few buttons, with a touch-sensitive pad in the center. You place you thumb on the pad and a blue-dot cursor shows up on screen. Your movement is then detected and you move the cursor by moving the remote in your hand.
Except it jumps and skips around and sometimes goes where you want it to.....it also highlights tiles as it goes past and IF you get it on the one you want and press the select button before the highlighted tile changes.....you get the wrong thing anyhow and have to go back and start over. You must get the dot where you want it, Then Wait for the highlight to switch to that selection without accidently moving, breathing, or having a butterfly in China flap its wings......then press the select button.
THIS SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED BY A PERSON WITH NO PETS....it had to be. Imagine if you will the mind of a cat or dog, and the pure instinctual excitement they must feel at the site of a small blue dot flicking around on the screen. Surely that is something that must be caught???
I must also mention that there are 4 buttons on the edges of the touch pad that 'can' be used instead. Up,Down,Right,Left.....except they are very thin and are the actual edges of the touch pad.....and the touch pad still acts as your select button. So when you navigate with those buttons to the tile you want, then attempt to select it, the touch pad detects that it has been touched and jumps the cursor to a different part of the screen.
FEATURE UNAVAILIBLE.....
All we really want in a TV is a good reliable picture. That is the Basic thing. Anything else can be added but a good picture is needed first.
That should not be difficult to obtain, but in this case it is.
All of the presets are Awful.....either making everything dark and dreary, Ultra-bright and luminescent, or un-Natural and grainy......and the motion settings make everything appear to have a halo of blur if in motion. This can be fixed by someone crazy enough to disable them and spend the time going through the MANY pages of settings and tweaking them individually. You shouldn't need to do this though...
I stress Shouldn't, but unfortunately with this TV you do.
There are also apparently un-written rules as to what can be changed and when.....
There is no description in the manual (The worst, most basic manual I've ever seen) or in the online manual which is just the paper one displayed onscreen.
There is a film mode that is supposed to up-convert but it is never available. Message 'This feature unavailable' appears onscreen
If you want to adjust the picture size to try to get a better image you get the message 'This feature unavailable'
If you want to adjust any picture settings other then turning the horrible presets on while watching something- 'This feature unavailable'
You have to exit your program, make the change without being able to see it, then re-enter and hope it looks alright.
Most of the things you might want to adjust while watching something get you the message-'This feature unavailable'
it's awesome!.....wait, no I mean the opposite of that....
Voice control.....
I haven't bothered to try it, and can't imagine it would work. There is also fine print in the user-agreement that says if you activate it they can record your homes background sound and use it to determine appropriate advertising....NO WAY....That should have been enough to return this, had I seen it soon enough.
So to review.....you can get 1080 to look ok, but have to work for it. The user interface is stupid, not smart. Your pets will try to attack the cursor. If you use voice control Samsung employees can spy on you. The onboard Wi-Fi is awful. The cursor jumps around, perhaps trying to evade the pets? your blood pressure goes up, and your neighbors can hear you yelling about how bad your TV is. You fall into depression trying to understand why you didn't just return it. you become confused with reality and begin to chew on tree-bark......ok those last few things probably won't happen......
Newer content typically looks better, even if listed as the same resolution as older.....for example 'Interstellar' looked great 1080HD, 'The HOBBIT 5 armies' looked fantastic 1080HD, Elysium 4k didn't look as good. 'Blacklist' and 'Better call Saul' 4k look good, but perhaps too clear.
All of these look better at 1080 on my old 1080 TV.....So for now I hope this is helpful, and that the future brings the improvements necessary for 4k to be viable.

The only thing that I don't like is, that it seems like I'm constantly changing settings depending what I'm doing. If I'm playing video games I have to change brightness and sharpness, movies and just watching my dish. I seem to have some issues with glare but I have a large window in my living room. All in all the picture is amazing and makes my four year old Sony look terrible. I like it a lot and can see stuff more clearly in shadowed areas. And I truly love the curve. It does exactly what it's designed to do. No matter where I am in my front room I can see the entire screen. Most other tvs get dark or just completely black. I can sit side by side with it and see the same things the person directly in front sees. Definitely worth it.

My only "complaints" would be that now the TV screen commands the entire room! Also, the remote takes a little to get used to as it is not a Lazer(?) directed tool, so one does not point directly at the screen, but rather by angle of hand. Still cannot figure out how to train the remote to operate Roku. Have not utilized the voice functions as yet.The colours are magnificent and I find myself altering the screen picture every time I view another movie. It's practically akin to looking out a window at times. The curved screen gives a much wider angle of viewing and reflect much less in the daytime. Unfortunately as a result of all of the above, if one has a DVD player that is not UHD capable (and upgrades 'lesser' DVD's) you will absolutely have to upgrade since image quality is extremely apparent. And, of course, now the sound system will need to be upgraded.....

This is by far the best TV I've ever owned. I use for TV, my playstation, and my computer monitor. I know for some that may be overkill for a computer monitor, but I love it. That's where the 4K really shines. From a distance you don't really see a difference, but unlike a 1080p TV, I can be very close to this and notice little to no distortion. The image is just as sharp at 3ft as it is from 13 ft away. Though to get the full effect of the 4K, you have to have something that puts out at least 1080p resolution. So far, my playstation looks best on the TV. When I build my next computer, I plan on getting a 4K video card to really see how this TV performs.
No complaints for the TV.

This TV is my first Smart TV and it's amazing. Samsung has hit it out of the park with this curved 4K 65" set. We've also had friends and family visit over the past few weeks and everyone said the same thing, WOW!
I used the Samsung web based video support to get help with a question and that was also effective and easy. I'm impressed

I've been pretty happy with this tv. I'll try to keep my main points pretty brief:
PROS:
-great picture
-solid upscaling ability (minimum blotching noticeable for standard def upscale, but near flawless for 1080p upscale to 4k)
-adequate processor - my previous samsung tv was underpowered but this one is great
-no issues with motion blur to-date
-LOVE the pizza tracker app for dominos
CONS:
-DOES NOT PASS SURROUND SOUND SIGNAL RECEIVED FROM HDMI THROUGH TO OPTICAL OUT.....it dumbs it down to 2 channel so have a contingency plan to get your audio to your speakers as you intend it to if this matters to you.
-The curve is great but you'll want it in a dim room or at least no lights directly in front of it. it amplifies ambient light reflections on the screen fairly noticeably if the light source is at all bright. I have to turn off the hall lights in the opposing doorway to fully negate the effect.
-P.I.P doesn't seem to support using two hdmi inputs....not a big deal for most but annoying the one time you want to use it. This is probably updatable for them in future software releases (as is the surround passthrough issue).
Overall great tv....don't regret the purchase at all.

We bought this set about 6 weeks ago and it's been flawless. The clarity and depth of the picture on our home cable connection "Brighthouse" was a pleasant surprise since it's not a UHD signal. The picture looks as good as it did in the store. Setting up the internet connection and other features was very straight forward.

Making the switch to 4k was a good choice. This TV does so much, and the picture is amazing! The remote control is also very cool. The only button on the remote that uses IR is the power button, every other button and function uses Bluetooth, so not only do you not have to point it at the TV, but you can be in another room and still control the TV! I use this sometimes to get my kids to stop watching and go to sleep. PS4 is also amazing on this TV, it has a special game mode that enhances the whole gaming experience. All in all, I am very happy with the purchase, you get a lot of TV for the money.

Got a new TV for my apartment. And I absolutely love it. Sounds good and looks good. My only cons was, when I first got it hooked up, the sound was terrible, had to turn it up all the way and use a sound bar to even hear it. But then it corrected itself, like it was doing a system upload. The other con was, I had an older LG bluray player, and it wasn't working. Went and got a new Samsung Bluray, and it worked absolutely fine.
Love my TV after all the initial setup and I couldn't be happier.

This tv has one of the best pictures I have ever seen. The curve seems to allow the images to " come alive" on the screen. Good quality from an angle too. The set up was easy. The only challenge is the little hub remote. It's a little bit difficult to understand the "smart" part. But with a time it's all coming together

this is the coolest tv I highly recommend it. you can hook up apple tv to this but you don't need to, it's a smart TV, connects to Internet easy. this tv was turned on and literally walks the most illiterate Internet gal thru the set up process for you. so many movie rental options and so far no hacker issues knock on wood, I've rented movies and all has been good. so much to do on this TV, it's a computer TV, that's what they should call it, screen is amazing, sound could be better but I connected bose system and made this the total package

I purchased the curve about a month ago. Best purchase decision I have made in long time. Watching football and other sports are more enjoyable than you can imagine. Watching regular television I am able to see faces clearer than any other TV I have owned. It has spoiled me. I no longer enjoy watching TV at other peoples homes. The SUPERBOWL party will be at my house this year!

We have now had our new tv for a month and a half. The view is incredible from every available angle. The screen looks super clear from close are far. Since the tv has a small frame around the screen, we could get a larger tv to fit in a predefined slot on our wall. We love coming home and turning it on. The tv was super easy to set up and get started. We went on a trip of the holidays and the whole time we were anxious to return home to our tv. There seriously is no tv that I have seen that can compare to this one. It has all the requirements. The TV is simply breathtaking at every single glance. Recommended for anyone who loves to watch tv.

It's a great tv all around as long as ur willing to look past a couple flaws. I read the coloring is off when u are viewing at an angle but the only time I noticed it was on a solid color screen. I also wish they would make the YouTube app so u could adjust quality of the video. Speakers are actually decent but not mind blowing by any stretch. I didn't know if the 4k would make any diff for tv watching but watching the super bowl on this and a 1080p at the same time, I could tell a diff, not huge but it was better. The remote is nice but like others said....lighted would be nice. One of the biggest things I noticed was Netflix loaded in about 15 seconds compared to a couple minutes on my older blue ray player. It was also HD when my older player wasn't. Processor speed is wonderful. If you are looking for a new TV is really nice. If you just want to upgrade I would wait for the price to drop a lil more.

The HD experience with this TV is absolutely incredible. I'm not an expert by any means but to my everyday opinion, it's fantastic. I see no need for 3D money to be spent when the Ultra HD on this is so good. My wife has said it's as if they're in the room with us. Best purchase yet!!!

So happy with this "dream" purchase for my husband. You really feel like you are part of the action especially in animated movies and sporting events (particularly football.) It feels like 3D at times. We are still getting use to all the fine tuning adjustments (making it "our own") but it has worked very well right out of the box. Although the sound is adequate without a speaker system or soundbar, we will eventually add one for greater audio quality.
