    JS8500 is almost perfect

After dealing and returning two other 2015 4K's in the last three weeks (LG 65UB9200 & Sony XBR-55900C) all I can say is that 65JS8500 is close to perfection. Blacks are remarkable. Colors/Images are real and balanced. No light bleeding. 3D is amazing. Remote is really smart. I've liked and trusted in Sony for many years (and still) but have to recognize that up to now this Samsung is an excellent product. Congrats

I have always been a Sony man and have always owned Sony Tv's. Sony televisions always seems to last a long time and have great picture; however, after I actually seen the picture, color, and 3D on this I was blown away. I read up and did much research and I think Samsung has outdone Sony with this TV. This has a lot of the same bells and whistles as the curved UN65JU7500FXZA except it has a flat screen. I was not really impressed by the curve design. If you are looking for a 4k this is a great buy for the price and about the best you can get in color next to the LG OLED's which are expensive, but unreal.

I've had this tv now for a few weeks, and I have nothing but great things to say about it's picture. There are some cons also but overall it's a winner! Setup was easy, mounted on my wall mount and had it up on the wall in no time flat. Connections are a little different from conventional tv's, it has a smaller box where you connect the hdmi cables to, then one simple connection to the tv. Powered it up and immediately was awestruck by the picture coming from my direct tv receiver. Spent the next few hours checking out all the features and popped in a 3D version of Guardians of the Galaxy. The 3D was very good, but Im not sure about sitting with glasses on watching tv. Now for my thoughts on the tv. Let me start with the cons, 1st is they give you one pair of 3D glasses not 2. When your spending this much for something, I think they could have at least give you 2 sets of glasses so you and your spouse can watch something right out of the box. It's not a deal breaker but I just wanted to mention it. Secondly is the remote. While it's nice having a small remote to use to quickly bump up the volume quickly, If this remote was given as a second remote I'd be very happy. There is no numbers on it and the arrow panel is not very easy to use. Buttons aren't raised enough to let you feel the differences in the button and I find myself sometimes pressing the wrong button. The pointing device doesn't work for me either, too hard to manipulate with my big fingers, could have been better. Now for the pros. First let me say the picture on this tv is nothing short of amazing. It is so lifelike and clear, it seems you can walk up to it and pull the football players off of the screen. Colors are rich and lifelike, as good as the Sony in my opinion. The smart hub is great, nice looking and easy to read menus and it works fast. There is no lag time going through the menus at all. There are also lots of options, Netflix, YouTube, and more. They all work great. I was able to search for some 4K content and watch it in YouTube also, it was fantastic! All said and done, I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to watching it in the future!

i asked for the floor model which clearly stated that it was JUST WITHOUT THE BOX. after taking it off the wall, they said it didn't have a stand or glasses or a remote. they gave me some glasses and a wall mount, but acted as if this was some known issue. why? it said on the sticker 'no box'. the remote didn't work and no one would give me a functional remote so i bought one from the manufacturer though. bad attitudes aside, TV itself is nice though.

    Great Pic remote control problems

So after I review this TV looking through multiple reviews both good and bad I decided to buy the 65 JS8500.. But first Let me explain my whole TV buying experience. My Panasonic Plasma 50 inch went out after 7 years. They explained I wouldn't get as good of a pic unless I went OLED but there were some pretty close options. So they Showed me the Samsung 55JS7000. The picture on that was great the only problem that it had Was Bleeding through, so movies with the black bars on top and bottom had a bunch of light that shined through and ruined the pic. (apparently a known problem with that TV). So I returned that tv and they talked me into a Sony XBR65X850C. I instantly like the size once I got it home. The problem with this tv for me was the it was too dark for me and the reds seem too over saturated and thats after reading reviews and doing a pretty in depth adjustments from a website I follow for TV's. It still didn't work out the pic wasn't good enough and really degraded at different angles. So I went back and purchased the Samsung 55JS8500. I went with the 55 because the 65 was a little more expensive and was not available at the time. I got it home it looked good but not as good as the JS7000 in my opinion, but was still good enough to keep but my down fall was at this point once I seen the 65 inch I couldn't go smaller. So I ordered the 65JS8500. And my REMOTE CONTROL WOES began. In short I had to swap 4 different remotes with best buy because they did not work, but the tv could be programed with my Directv remote so I knew it wasn't the tv. All of the factory Samsung remotes did not work only powered on and off the tv.. So after battling with BEST for a WEEK I called Samsung support which I should have done from the start. All I had to do was PAIR THE REMOTE WITH THE TV by pressing and holding the return/exit and Extra button and the Remotes will pair with the tv. I would give it a 5 but the remote problem which wasn't even in the manual was crazy other than that so far its a great tv...

Narrowed it down to this or the Sony 850C and agonized over the final decision. Either one was going to be a monumental improvement on my 55" Vizio E series, which has been a great TV for the money. The JS8500 is another galaxy when compared to it however. Right out of the box with only the basic setup the picture is truly jaw dropping. The upscaling abilities far exceeded my expectations! Gaming and BluRay rival the 4K feed they were running through the TV at the store. Best Buy sales staff were extremely professional and helped me get the most features and performance for my money. Geek Squad delivery and setup was outstanding as well.

The initial plan was to go for the LG OLED ef9500, but I held off since i just could not justify shelling out that much money for it. Instead, I spent what felt like an eternity going over reviews for 4K LED tvs and it came down to choosing between this 65" model and the Sony 65XBR850C. With gut feel and some help from forums and rtings.com, I decided on Samsung. I almost ordered through costco since theirs have a darker bezel and the model wasnt available in-store at most BB locations but patience paid off, out of the blue it was suddenly available at a BB near me. Using some GCs and coupons, it ended up just costing around $1700 pre tax. Sweeeeeeet!!!! Ive only had the unit for 2 weeks and boy, oh boy! I sometimes catch myself wondering why they sell it at such price point because as far as Im concerned, it works and looks like a high end 4k set!!! Out of the box the picture looked amazing. I followed rting.com's calibration setting and just tweaked the backlighting a bit and so far Im a very happy camper!!! Blacks are inky and so unbelievably deep that sometimes I feel like its an OLED TV! True, the screen is on the glossy side but I use blackout panels on my windows so reflection is not an issue. Watching HD and 4k stuff on youtube alone is a treat! Until OLED 4k tvs become affordable for me, i will be sticking with and enjoying this amazing tv! P.S., not sure if it really matters (forums say it does!), the unit I have has a TH01 panel!

Without a doubt the best picture I have ever seen right out of the box. The up scaling is un believable, makes 1080p look like 4k. Remember not so long ago when we all upgraded to HD FROM SD and how great we thought that was? This is even better, I can't go back to 1080p, I'm hooked on this. The picture is so sharp and bright you almost need sunglasses to watch the evening news! I highly recommend this set for a home theater set up, easy connections, seamless source changes........I could just go on and on, but hey, do yourself a favor and get one of these, especially at this sales price!

The Best LCD 4K TV Black Friday Deal

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Samsung JS8500 4K TV has been on at least a couple lists of Top Ten 4K TVs for 2015. During this two week Black Friday period, the price has dropped 40%. Since it was released in April 2015, the price has dropped 50%. If it is in your budget, I strongly encourage you to consider this TV if you like the "Samsung look" in your TV and movie watching. I originally bought the Sony X810C 4K TV, and the only thing that TV did well was 4k content; for everything else (upscaling HD cable, watching blu-rays) it was terrible. The upscaling was so poor it made HD content look like it was Standard Definition! But this TV is great playing 4K content, great at upscaling 720p HD FiOS cable, and fabulous at upscaling 1080p blu-rays. The Smart control center may take some getting used to, but it is generally fine. So again, if you're either considering buying a Samsung for the first time or you want to upgrade your existing Samsung and again it's within your budget, this is The Best LCD 4K Black Friday Deal currently. I also encourage you to buy the Geek Squad protection, because even though I never had a problem with my other Samsung LCD TV (owned 5-1/2 years), once and a while a lemon will get through inspection.

First off let me say the picture is amazing compared to the DLP it replaced. I was worried about some reviews talking about light bleed or clouding but my unit was almost perfect. I did have a small area with clouding but its only noticeable during dark scenes. I was also worried about input lag as well as this unit is 37ms when game mode is turned on....but! After playing a couple of hrs of Black OPS 3 online its just as good if not better then my DLP was, I didn't notice it. I did watch a couple of 4k videos on youtube and was blown away but most of the content I watch is in 1080p and the upscaling was very impressive and reminded me of when I went from 720p to 1080p, its that good! Now you will have to tweak the picture settings to your liking but after that its amazing. I feel like im really watching movies and playing games for the first time because of the detail ive been missing. So to end my review I do have one complaint but it won't affect the 5star rating. Since I play my PS4 and Xbox One I constantly have to go back in forth between game mode when I want to watch movies/tv. Its under Menu, Settings, General, then game mode. Its a hassle but its ok because this tv is amazing!

The picture size option on the controller is a bit difficult to use and at times does not work efficiently (different size screens show up on the TV sometimes when returning to the same size icon). the controller for the sound bar is impossible to use and locks up. The user manual supplied with the sound bar does not match the controller.

TV is good has been 3 weeks since i bought, sligh light bleed on right, which could be coz best buy gave me an open box. So story goes like this, received the tv on time but pakage was pre open was not completely seal, we thought big box might have got open, but inside Styrofoam packaging was broken as well. We called best buy geek squad they asked anything wrong with tv? So I decided to put it up to see if there is any thing wrong. Nothing broken work fine,so we said leave it as is coz its working fine no light bleed god knows if other boxed tv might have it so we told BB not to replace, however BB Geek sqad agreed to compensate open box with a BB visa gift card. Which we never received. Instead got a call saying open box was coz we open stuff to check if everything it's fine, hello that's why manufacturer spend so much on qa Now this is not whag we expect from BB

I went from the Panasonic Plasma ZT series to this TV and I did not miss a step. I loved my plasma, but it developed screen burn from me watching the Yankees. The YES logo and score were burned into the top lefthand corner of the screen. Thank goodness I had an extended warranty and was able to get a new TV. I decided on the Samsung UN65JS8500 and could not be happier! The picture is great, so far. Stunning color and detail! I really can't tell the difference between this and the plasma, only this TV give you a brighter picture. The highlight of this purchase was the help that I got from Jeremy, the salesman at the Best Buy on the upper westside in Manhattan, N.Y.C. He was knowledgable, patient, and extremely courteous. This is the type of person that will move your company forward!

After 22 months (now out of warrantee) I hung the TV on the wall at my new address and finally hooked it up to the internet. The hook up immediately sent the TV into an update mode. The update sent the TV into a BOOT LOOP which of course according to SAMSUNG was not their problem being out of warantee. The service tech claimed it would require just short of $500.00 to repair but that to stop the problem from re-occuring no further updates could be allowed. (What's the benefit of having a SMART TV if you can't do the updates. Even though there have been 100s of people with the same issue SAMSUNG couldn't care less. I wouldn't advise any one ever to purchase a Samsung TV ever. Bought a SONY to replace it.

First review in my history of purchases. I had to post a review for this excellent tv, got a deal for super bowl week 1999.99. Best deal for a tv that's Suhd 65 inch(monster of a tv) It was between this tv or the lg oled 55 inch eg9100. Led lcd has come a long way since my 2010 model 40 inch samsung. Colors pop, blacks are deep, very minimul flashlight clouding! Oled has too many problems including burn-in & dead pixel problems & way too expensive. This tv has a gpa of 4.0 very smart. Sound is great, don't need a sound bar. 4K content is amazing, 3D is like in the theater! This is samsung top of the line tv hands down. Don't need the curve of the 9000 series. This tv is hdr ready so its future proof. Blu Ray looks amazing, can't wait til 4K blu ray. If you see it on sale don't hesitate, buy it!!!

This TV is amazing... got it last Black Friday for $2000 (Great to see that even at clearance price the value hasn't tanked like other TVs we have owned). Thank you to the very knowledgeable Best Buy associate who helped us pick it out. The picture quality is amazing - I stream Netflix Underwater from the Moving Art series in 4k to make my family room come alive. I love the remote control despite what others say. There are only a few buttons to worry about and it's easy to get a feel for where they are for easy no-look navigation. 3D was important to me, and my family and I thoroughly enjoy watching up-converted 3D blu-rays. There are some potential cons I might suggest is that the internal network adapters seem to be lacking in potential speed. Even with a wired port on a 40 Mbps connection, we struggle to maintain 4k streaming (understanding it may not be all related to the TV). Along those same lines, the Netflix app seems to have some issues. We used to watch Netflix on the PS3, and a simple tap of the "Select" button would give you a mini-display telling you want you needed to know about what resolution was currently streaming. When I was initially troubleshooting speed issues over wifi and streaming, it was annoying to try to figure out the flux of the display quality and exactly what kind of speeds we were getting. Also we find when we are viewing Netflix in primetime or anywhere near, we have severe quality issues (seems to be streaming in 480 much of the time). Seems to be more of an issue with the Samsung Netflix app itself because A.) The internal Hulu app displays in 1080 just fine any time of day, and B.) Using our Chromecast via iPhone on the TV for Netflix we are able to get 1080 just fine.
