I also did my research as well, knowing full well the differences between QLED, OLED, etc. I knew that OLED was outside of my price point, and so I "settled" on QLED. And this is actually my first TV purchase in about 9 years - my previous TV was a Sharp LED TV (it was not a smart TV). I made it a point to ask the Best Buy associate which TV does well in brightly lit rooms, and he pointed to this one. While I am pretty happy with Samsung TV plus and the overall UI for Samsung Smart TVs, as well as neat little features like the "ambience" section where you can effectively turn the TV into a painting or portrait, I am not thrilled about the color depth. I have scoured the Internet for tips on calibrating - the one thing I have not tried is the Smart Calibration. I have adjusted this TV under different settings in expert settings, and despite all of this, the color depth simply is not "bold" enough for my liking. Maybe I am too used to dynamic colors, but I have a TV that, unfortunately for me, is on a wall flanked by a floor to ceiling window which faces west, which faces sunset, and even when the curtains closed, the room is fairly bright. But even so, the TV struggled to give non-glare and a bright picture. I'm not that impressed with this TV, especially for the price point. Had I known that it would not perform well in bright rooms, I would have gone with either a different Samsung TV at half the price or a different brand altogether. Definitely not worth the $1000 price point. In my opinion, the price point is going towards the Smart UI rather than the picture quality.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the picture quality of your Q70C TV. To ensure you’ve got the latest image quality updates, please confirm that your TV is up to date with the latest firmware version. You can check by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
If the picture you’re seeing is still not to your liking after updating firmware, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.
Go to Home > left direction button > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
...and select the mode that best fits your usage:
1. Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments
2. Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments
3. Eco: Provided to save energy
4. Movie: Suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room
5. Filmmaker Mode: Provides source content just as the creators intended. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it’ll automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.
You can also fine-tune your picture with expert settings such as brightness, contrast, sharpness and more (All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings).
Intelligent Mode further enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Menu > Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Intelligent Mode Settings > Intelligent Mode.
