TV is awsome - Apps are so so

This is a fantastic TV, The picture is great and even the sound is very good. The sound is good enough that we ditched our surround sound (5 speaker system) and now just use the TV speakers. The power-on and power-off sequences are very quick and off axis viewing is excellent. I would give the TV a 5 star review, were it not for the apps. So here is the not so good part. I have been watching Pluto TV for years, but the Pluto app on this TV sucks. It mostly works, but the Pluto guide does not show all the shows. All the channels are there, but many are empty in the guide. And the time on the guide is off by something like 50 minutes. I have to go to pluto.tv on my laptop to actually see a useful guide. The Amazon Prime Video app is very frustrating. I am an Amazon Prime member and occasionally like to watch some of the shows that come with Amazon prime, but more than half the time it fails. I browse the guide and select a show, then I get a message that says something has gone wrong, please try again. When that happens, you will get that message no matter how many times you try again. By the way, I am using a hard-wired gigabit Ethernet connection with excellent service, so that is not the problem. When I was shopping for TVs, one thing that attracted me to this TV was the "Ambient Mode", but the reality was disappointing. This mode is supposed to allow you to use the TV as a big beautiful picture frame where you can display your favorite photos. That can work, but you must choose your images from either the Samsung cloud or your smart phone. The problem is that if you want to get the photos from your smart phone, you must put your TV on your home network via wifi (it will not work with a wired connection). And, it must be connected using the same wifi frequency as your phone. So, with my TV hard wired to the same network as my phone, I could net get photos from my phone. Then with my TV connected via wifi to the same network as my phone, it still wouldn't get photos from my phone (my phone was on the 5 GHz frequency and the TV was on the 2.4 GHz of the same wifi network). To add insult to injury, the TV does not provide a useful error message stating the unreasonable network restrictions, it just pops up an error with an obscure error code. By the way, I have a NAS hard drive on the same network (where I keep all my photos), but that is not accessible for Ambient mode.

I bought the Samsung 75' Q80T QLED to replace a 3 year 4K 65' LG OLED TV that I had to junk due to burnt in screen issues. I understand that the Samsung 4K QLED TV is not susceptible to this problem and I liked the extra 10 inches of screen size. So no huge regrets thus far. In all honesty, I did notice however that the side angle views of the Samsung QLED screen were not as good as the OLED and the OLED had slightly better HDR color saturation . On the positive side the QLED had less glare in bright room situations and very quick smart TV response. Probably better for game viewing too. The audio was not bad either but I would recommend to at least get a sound bar to upgrade the audio. I used the Geek Squad services for delivery and installation and they quickly connected it to my 5.1 audio system. Unfortunately they were not able to program my universal remote and I have to use two remotes to operate the Samsung QLED now. I bought the new Samsung at the Black Friday price which was actually much lower than the price for a comparable 4K UHD TV w/ HDR a year ago. I highly recommend the Samsung Q 80 T when it goes on sale all things considered.

Great TV! The picture is amazing and I love that the stand is so sturdy and that there is an anti-glare coating/finish on the screen. The setup was extremely easy with having a Samsung phone and using the SmartThings app. The remote is easy to use and very instinctive. I have no drawbacks to list with this purchase.

Beautiful picture, simple, but full-featured remote that controls all other components (including non-Samsung), excellent sound quality without a sound bar, what else could you ask for. Upgraded to this 75" Q80T from a 65" 6 series TCL that "blew up" after 2 years. The picture quality is amazing! So much cleaner and brighter (and the TCL was no slouch in picture quality). The full-array, direct lit panel keeps the lighting even with deeper blacks and great contrast. The upscaling of lower resolution programs to 4K is so much better than the TCL. My 87 year old father-in-law loves to watch the old westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza, and I was worried that these would look pixelated when stretched out to 75 inches. This TV processes these shows to provide stunning clarity, it is hard to imagine that these were filmed with 70 or 80 year old equipment. I also greatly appreciated the easy to see and easy to access inputs. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase! Best Buy's pricing cannot be beat.

    Replacement for earlier generation 4K

This is a feature rich TV. If you don't like poking around in the menu, you may not find the best picture. The remote control feels better than my earlier generation 4k. I've had three and they all lost one function or another due to the loss of a defective button. It takes some time getting used to the change of picture quality as you change channels or input. My old Samsung 4k TV popped with notice that stated "Watching HDR" when I was on the proper channel. This one says nothing on what should be a 4k channel. Maybe the content is Dolby Vision which this TV doesn't support. Why can't we (consumer) have both Dolby and HDR10+? It reminds me of the VHS and Beta wars. Some consumers lost. Anyway when the picture is on the right channel it really pops. Honestly, I almost purchased an OLED but caught this on a nice sale and decided to spend the savings elsewhere. Overall, I think Samsung did a great job with TV. I hope the future software upgrades make it even better.

I have the 75" and I have 0 complaints about it. The speakers from the TV by itself is pretty dang good. The picture quality is excellent and the 120hz makes it so much better. It comes with a slick and easy to use remote control. I highly recommend this TV.

    Samsung Q80T is a winner!

Samsung's Q80T has a full array background lighting and multiple dimming zones for the best picture quality at this price point. It is very bright, especially in a bright room with excellent viewing angles. But it is the software that is the real bonus. It is easy to use with a simple but full featured remote and onscreen layout including bluetooth options. Every streaming service and software platform is supported, including Apple TV, HBO Max, PBS not found on other platforms. And, this particular model has an Ambient mode which allows you to choose many options for turning the "black slab" look into beautiful low energy use artwork, pictures, backgrounds, etc. with calming music choices when not in use (my favorite surprise feature!) - I have not found another TV Brand with this Ambient "Photo Frame" like feature.

    Screen Bubbles

Bought this TV in 2020 during Covid. Spent 3200 on the tv at that time as thats all we could do under lockdown. Hasnt been quite 4 years and the LCD screen is bubbling. The tv was gorgeous when i first got it but find it very disappointing and dis-heartened by samsung that the screen is bubbling for that kind of money less then 4 years later. Tv's go on sale all the time but i bought this tv when it was still pretty solid technology. Have been a very faithful and loyal samsung owner of many products for over a decade and this tv forced me to decide to delve into other brands.

First off, I got this tv for over $1000 off due to it being an open box and no damage that I noticed. The value alone, makes it 5 stars for me. Beautiful, crisp, and bright picture. Unless you’re in a very large room or want surround sound, the stock speakers are some of the best I’ve ever heard on a tv. The OS is great and very easy to use. It doesn’t have the same depth and darkness in the blacks like a true OLED tv does, but that’s the only draw back for the price. But I haven’t noticed any burn in like a true OLED tv would have. Definitely worth checking out. A great alternative to the insane prices of OLED tv’s.

Love it. Can see everything. The color is great. The only downside is the sound is not very good by itself. We now have it hooked to surround sound so that doesn't matter. Also it's easy to navigate.

While our goal was to replace our wall mounted 43 inch with a 65 inch television, and we had initially wanted another manufacturer's product, we are glad we went with the 75" Samsung. The Best Buy sales person helped us learn about the differences in products. Thanks! We were able to use our old wall mount and now watching shows is a better experience. The Q80T provides an amazing picture whether looking straight on or from a side. We were using an Apple TV before getting this smart TV. I was worried a bit about moving to a new remote, but the Samsung remote feels a lot like the other--the movement is pretty intuitive. It feels good in the hand. We are very pleased with our choice.

This TV has great colors that offer a really impressive experience, my only complaint is how troublesome game mode/ the samsung smart hub is. It's annoying that I have to re enable game mode so often just to get 120hz.

Great picture, remote works well. HBO Max app causes freezing which is a pain, hence the four stars (the tv is right next to the WiFi with 350mb/s speed. There should be no freezing. Refresh rate handles next gen games well, screen is great even in a bright room.

We did a lot a research before choosing the Samsung QLED. It was definitely a toss up between this and the LG OLED models. We are so impressed with the image and the ease of which this TV works with our other devices. We’re a mixed household of Amazon Alexa and Apple, Sony, LG and XBox and everything plays well together. We have a lot of light in the room but the picture is brilliant in all of our seating locations and even back into the kitchen. The colors are bright and true, the blacks definitive with no reflection.
