good price fast speed and easy installation super great product

Needing an HDD to finish a computer build, I made the jump and decided to purchase an SSD for Windows 8.1 installation. I kept waiting for prices to get to where they weren't cost prohibitive, and finally BB had the Samsung 840 Pro at a price I couldn't pass up. Overall, the item was easy to install and setup. Just pop into drive tray, secure with screws, reinsert into computer, and boot. That's it. On top of that, the Samsung Magician software is a great addition to an already stellar product. The software essentially monitors the health of the SSD and makes for easy checkup on the fly. Lastly, while boot time for Windows seems to be quicker, it isn't astoundingly fast as I thought it would be. Maybe I need to tweak settings a little more and see if it changes, but as of right now, this has been the only drawback. Maybe my expectations were too high considering all the rave reviews for SSD's. Anyway, regardless, still a great buy as the total package is well worth the cost.

This SSD is the best price per GB you can get on the market right now when it comes to speed. The only way you will surpass speeds the Pro series achieves is by using a very pricey (+$2000) PCIe SSD. The migration software is extremely easy to use, practically initiates itself. Also I was migrating from SSD to SSD and it even aligned my data correctly! Bought this on sale when it was under $170, worth every penny!

Very nice drive. Rock solid and fast; just as advertised. Software and drive were simple to install. Cloned existing drive easily. Booted new drive without a problem.

I bought this to upgrade an old sata hard drive in my laptop and it is awesome. Fast boot up and my laptop runs all my programs faster. No problem with it at all.

So my "Ease of Installation" is if you are comfortable with installing a hard drive on your laptop. If this is the case, then this is an awesome product. Comes with data migration software and I would have given it a higher rating, but I also purchased a Kingston SSD drive kit at the same time and that one had a drive enclosure that made installation slightly easier. Data migration software will resize your HD partition so if you are moving from a huge drive to a Solid State drive, it will handle it for you. From a performance perspective, we went from getting ready to chuck our notebook through a window to loving it again. I highly recommend and won't go back to a normal drive for a boot device. Most people may find the size a bit restrictive if this is the only drive. I installed in an HP ENVY notebook and took the original primary drive and installed it in the second drive bay. I now have my documents and all programs on the second drive. The only thing I needed for this was an additional drive kit that I purchased from HP directly for ~$40. However, this is optional if you don't store photos, videos, lots of programs, etc on your computer.

It's not a new SSD but help me for an 'old' PC to keep good performance with W7. I prefered 512GB but too expenseve. Easy for installation, I see the improvments quickly. - 1 star : no accessories or just a software to clone your previous disk to put on the new SSD ( I found EaseUS Todo Backup Home, easy).

After all reviews, trials, tests, specs and comparisons, I still choose Samsung above all. Major improvement even on old laptops that's about to die.

Absolutely a no brainer to buy this drive. It is insanely fast and quality built. I am running a custom build with this at the brain of the whole system. Windows 8.1 pro media center edition, boots in seconds.
