Review here from a big Samsung fan. We decided to upgrade from a curved 78 inch TV to this product. Overall pleased. Great picture detail. Blacks also pretty solid too. Very easy to use. The only thing that I noticed is that fast motion can cause some objects in the image to tear despite adjusting the settings. Not sure if this is a function of a very large screen. The sound alone is okay, but, we purchased the Q80 sound bar to supplement. Happy with the purchase.

I had previously purchased a 65" Q80 for my living room and was extremely impressed with picture quality. I decided to purchase this Q70 85" for my "mancave". It is replacing a projector with a 110" screen. As this sits now on a stand in front of where projector screen was, it seems huge! Picture quality is a bit below the Q80, but that is to be expected. I also have to comment on reflections on this screen vs. The Q80, not bad in my scenario as I have total light control in my room. But be wary if you have large windows or lights in a position where it would reflect on the screen. If this is an issue, spend the extra money and get the Q80 or 90. Picture quality especially with 4k UHD is outstanding.

Everything about this television is great! That is, with the exception of getting it here & TRYING for installation. We bought this in March and it finally Got hung on the wall on May 3rd-with no thanks or credit given to you (my husband enlisted some help from a friend, and they hung it themselves). I understand that all of this was due to the governor’s quarantine order, but ... how disappointing to have to wait almost TWO months AFTER it was delivered to be able to use it!! Other than that-no problems whatsoever.

I bought this TV the first week it came out when it still was priced at $4,799 (however I did get it on sale for a little under $4,000) & had very high hopes & exceptions for it & wasn’t super impressed with it for the price. This Tv against a 65” Samsung 4k Curved 7 series I bought from Best Buy probably 4 years ago, doesn’t even being to compare. You’d think the Newer technology would operate smother & have a clearer resolution & crisper picture & feel & look of quality To it but the Old Samsung blowns this one out of the water. I understand a 85” TV isn’t going to have as bright of a picture due to size, but for a TV this Expensive, It shouldn’t display a picture or be as cheaply made as a Black Friday doorbuster model the manufacturers make strictly for the stores.

Extremely Disappointed with Samsung QLED 85" TV

    Posted .

I purchased the Samsung QLED 85" TV through their first responder program, hoping to get a great deal on a high-quality TV. Unfortunately, what I received was nothing but frustration. The TV has severe backlight bleeding in all four corners, and it’s especially noticeable during dark scenes. It’s so distracting that it makes watching any content with darker scenes nearly impossible. I had the repair company come out THREE separate times to fix the issue, and each time they were incredibly late. Despite me taking days off from work to accommodate the appointments, they never showed up on time, which made the whole situation even more inconvenient and aggravating. The final straw was when the technician called Samsung for further guidance. The Samsung tech on the other end of the line told the repairman that the backlight bleed was “normal,” and that I needed to be “educated” about it. They also suggested I should upgrade to a better model. Seriously? For a brand-new TV, that’s not the answer I expected, especially when I was told that this issue was normal for this model. Even one of the repairmen admitted that Samsung’s quality has been slipping and recommended I look into another big-name brand instead. That’s telling enough! To make matters worse, I bought the TV directly from Samsung through the first responder program at a discounted rate. Because of this, I didn’t have the option to return the TV to a local retailer. So now, I’m stuck with a defective product that I can’t exchange, all while Samsung refuses to address the issue properly. This experience has been an absolute nightmare. The TV is defective, the customer service is a joke, and I feel completely trapped. I would strongly advise against buying this TV or any Samsung product. Do yourself a favor and go with a more reliable brand.

This set is the best mid tier 85" TV for the price. Excellent colors that pop and bright screen. Downside is that from an angle the color shifts and fades. Menus can be a little slow at times and no one connect box. Now I have to unmount the TV if I want to plug in a new cable or device.

    Incredible 4K UHD TV

I resisted going 4k UHD for quite a while. The prices were too high and the UHD 4K image was dependent on a consistent internet speed of 20 MB down, minimum. When the Q70 went on sale, shortly after I upgraded to a much faster internet provider, the stars aligned. I went for the Goldilocks model (Q70) because it was a bit better than the Q60 in a couple technical aspects, and a bunch cheaper than the Q80 (and for the $$$'s, not much more bang for the bucks!). Overall, I am pleased. 4k is awesome.

Picture quality from black to vibrant is phenomenal. Only negative is that the anti glare coating is still susceptible to normal daytime ambient light. All in all, not a big deal when the picture quality is otherwise so good!

Its got a beautiful screen. Its huge and fits my family room space perfectly. I think this is about as big as i'd want to go unless I owned a mansion which i don't. Settings were easy to customize for my own viewing pleasure. Screen is incredibly bright and in vivid mode its incredibly vibrant. To the point it almost hurts the eyes. This isn't a con - but more of a compliment to what this panel is capable of. I also have it hooked up to a media computer which plays games and used for video and everything is beautiful on that as well. The apps are incredibly responsive and easily accessible. I really like the OS samsung uses. I highly recommend this panel!

I have a 65” OLED and decided to upgrade the size and went to the QLED. The 75” in the store was nice but turning on the 85” it’s not as clear. The Best Buy rep advised it wasn’t like the QLED which got a worse picture the bigger the size so I went with the biggest. Wrong. It’s still beautiful, however I can see the pores on people’s faces with the OLED. I still recommend the tv, just maybe stick to 75” or smaller. Also, the Bixby sucks! Doesn’t understand anything I request. Beware it’s definitely not as good as Alexa.

Samsung made another great tv. Out of the box it worked and the settings were close to great. No issues that are major. My only concern is the apps. The CBS all Access app still hangs up. The other apps mostly work 98% of the time. But they hang as well. Loved that the One connect mini is gone from this unit. We bought the 85 inch model. We have always had good luck with the samsung units. This one is no different. The color and depth is great. The surface only has a slight reflection. The screen is bright for window rooms. We have large windows in our main where this unit went.
