I found out that other Mac users experienced the same problem. just stay away if you plan to use for Mac.

The 860 EVO Series SSDs are compatible with Mac OSX. However, on Macs, TRIM is only supported for Apple's OEM SSDs and is not supported for Samsung's (or any other manufacturers') aftermarket SSDs. Apple has placed a feature - known as kext signing - onto their OS so as to not allow TRIM to run on 3rd party SSD's. This is not a Samsung SSD issue, but rather Apple limiting the use of 3rd party SSD's on their products.

I have several issues with the drive causing my OS to freeze and lag(this issue is all over the internet, I'm not the only one.)

So unless you don't have any m.2 slots left. I wouldn't recommend this very expensive SATA ssd

Not easy to disconnect

Drive would not work

Disappointed when the drive would not function. Went back to Best Buy, where the very helpful store salesman went through the remaining three drives in store inventory testing each before I would take it home. Unfortunately all failed to work on not only my laptop but in three other devices in the store. Will not purchase this again.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SATA III SSD. There are several reasons your SSD may not be detected in BIOS. BIOS may fail to support the SSD if it is outdated - please update the BIOS to the latest version. Also, your system may fail to detect the SSD if it is not properly connected – please disconnect the cable and reconnect. Lastly, you may need to connect the SSD to a different SATA port and try again.

Instant speed boost for any computer with SATA

I essentially cloned the drive and now his machine is much more usable than before, along with maxxing out the ram, and will be for hopefully the years to come.

Can’t even make a recovery disc on a 16gb usb. Lenovo sucks. Will use the Samsung ssd on another laptop.
