I had a mid 2012 MacBook Pro with a hard drive that started failing. I really didn't want to spend the money on a new MacBook because mine was still in excellent condition and I only use it to surf the web & for Microsoft Office. When I put this SSD in, HOLY CRAP! What a great relief! MacBook works like new & it literally took me 15 min to install after watching a Youtube video. DEFINITELY recommend this SSD for a general upgrade or failing hard drives.

This SSD fits all of my requirements for being fast, compact, reliable, and affordable. I've been getting really good read and write speeds. I'm less interested in benchmark stores, but more interested in how fast applications and files open. It feels like files can open almost instantly. I've been getting a few of these to expand on my total system volume as I go and would would pick another one of Samsung's SSDs again in a heart beat.

I can't believe I waited so long to do this. Samsung made it SO EASY. Before purchasing, I found some blogs recommending various free cloning software for when I decided to finally make my move of upgrading my 5400rpm 3 year old laptop drive over to an SSD. I knew I would be downsizing from my 1TB drive to a 500GB for affordability just to get a solid state drive. My husband chose a PNY brand drive at first, but after reading reviews on the process of cloning an HDD to an SSD of a smaller size... we spent the extra $10 to buy this Samsung drive because of the included drive health monitoring software; not to mention, the cloning software seemed simple and straightforward. This was an understatement!! The Samsung drive's manual (included) was mostly for show, directing us to a website under samsung,com in order to download Samsung's clone-ware, the aforementioned monitoring software, and some basic instructions on how to swap the drive. It couldn't have been more user-friendly. We didn't even need to read the instructions. The cloning software was super simple and handled all the partition resizing/downsizing for us. THE PROCESS: First step, we ran CHKDSK on our existing drive to be sure there were no existing errors that would carry over to the new drive.... then we simply used a SATA to USB-A cable to connect the new drive to my laptop externally (no enclosure needed), opened the Samsung clone-ware which auto-selected my existing hard drive for cloning, then I selected the external Samsung drive to export the clone to, and clicked START. Just under 6 hours later, I powered my laptop down, pulled the power sources (battery and plug), swapped the drives, and booted up to the fastest computer I've owned in a long time without having to reinstall a single thing. Even all my software registrations and licenses copied over smoothly and Windows reported 0 errors when running a CHKDSK on the new drive after installation. Before buying the drive, I had downloaded one of the more popular cloning programs available.... and it was far more complex and left us open to making mistakes while cloning the partitions. Zero regrets and would purchase again and again for the software alone. The software is only compatible with a Samsung drive.

Boot, upload, and download speeds are insane. The price is very friendly for what you get as well. More importantly, reliability, for the years I have owned this SSD, is stellar; I have never had any issue whatsoever with it's operation.

WILL BUY SSD FOR IMAC 2007 LOTS OF NOISE SOULD BE FINE ALSO. SO I HAD TO BUY JUMPER CABLE (DISK TO USB) ALSO DOWNLOADED SHIRT POCKET (SUPERDUPER) (FREE TRIAL). IN DISK UTILITY FOR APPLE COPYED SSD FROM SUPERDUPER , THEN WHEN STILL PLUGED IN SHUT OFF MAC THEN STARTED WITH CONTROL BUTTON PUSHED. THEN SWITCHED TO SSD ON SCREEN TO CHECK SYSTEM BEFORE REPLACING OLD 500 GIG STORAGE. IT RAN FROM JUMPER CABLE THEN INSTALLED AND WORKED PERFECT.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT!

After installation there was a big difference in start up time on my MSI laptop.

This thing is installed in a mid-2012 MacBook Pro to replace its hard drive. It has given the MBP new life as startup speeds are now ridiculously fast. The only thing limiting the speed on the MBP is the CPU and RAM, because this SSD is no slouch!

Implanted this into a new HP i3 laptop...'impressive' is an understatement. Five second boot, and ridiculously fast app launch. Samsung's data migration software is awesome-simple, just ensure you have the proper USB-to-SATA cable prior to diving in.

I was cheap at first and bought an inland m.2 2280 ssd. After playing with their ssd for 2 hours and it failing to post time after time I finally returned it and grabbed a Samsung. Installed the new drive in 5 minutes and was ready to go.

This is probably the single best upgrade for an aging computer, laptop or desktop that has a mechanical hard drive. Samsung SSD's are probably some of the best ones on the market. The five year warranty is there to back you up.

You can never go wrong with Samsung, slapped one of these in my new build along with the nvme m.2 pro and I have boot times and read and rights faster then most servers will hand it out. Trust me, upgrade to an SSD.

I have bought and installed 4 of these in the last 6 months and have had no issues at all. It does make any laptop with a SATA drive much faster. Laptops are the only thing I have installed these in.

Upgraded my slow and tired Mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13 inch with this SSD. The results are night and day. My MacBook is faster now than the day I bought it. This SSD coupled with 16gb of ram did the job.

Samsung is the best on the market when it comes to SSD. This will improve your boot times by like 1000000000% if you're coming from a HDD. PC boots up in less than 20 seconds. I can open programs immediately after boot. Samsung magician is a great tool as well (software that comes with the SSD.) Helps keep your SSD stable and comes with any tools you may need. I would recommend just wiping everything clean if you can and just do a whole new Windows 10 boot if you're trying to transfer from HDD to SSD (way easier process than trying to transfer everything.) I use my HDD for storage now (I do a lot of Graphic Design work and Video production.) Buy it, love it. Thank me later.

The lightning strikes and blew out the internal drive in my sons computer. The geek squad put this in for us and everything’s working great like nothing happened. So I’m satisfied.

I just replaced the 1 TB HDD from my dell G3 3579 and installed it with this SSD, once I got it too work it worked as smooth like a knife going through butter. Amazing job Samsung

Bought it to replace an existing Samsung SSD drive that was getting full. Cloning software that comes with it is fast and powerful. Samsung SSDs are the best on the market and have a good warrantee.

This is my first external SSD and I am impressed, I am using with Lightroom and it is working just like internal HD in my PC, no delays
