I installed this Samsung EVO 860 500G SSD drive onto a Dell Inspiron laptop. The old 1TB HDD was pretty slow and was killing the performance of the laptop considering it was a 6th Gen i7 CPU and 16G of RAM. The bootup time literally went from ~75secs to ~15 secs. Overall the price of the item is quite reasonable and the performance is terrific.

Perfectly perfect and easy to migrate. I’m using the 1TB as the master & 500GB for the slave. Super fast. No issues. I have purchased other ssd’s and Samsung is the best so far. The 860 EVO seems to perform beyond its class without the additional cost. The (downloadable) software is super easy to use too. Totally recommend!

I have probably replaced three dozen "old school", spinning hard drives with these SSD drives for friends, customers and family in the past 12 months. Samsung EVOs are my favorites! The software makes it easy to clone, the installation is simple, and they have been extremely dependable. The magician software lets you follow up on number of bites written and condition of drive.

I purchased this drive to upgrade the spinning HD in my pre-built gaming PC. Couldn't have been easier. Used an external HD enclosure to flash over the contents of the original drive using the Samsung software that you can download from their website for free. Once that was done, I pulled the old drive, attached the SSD cradle for this drive since it was a full sized bay, hooked up the SATA III cable and the power and booted her back up and it worked like a charm. If you are going to put this in another bay, you will need to check to see what cables are already there and ready to go (in most pre-builts it will have power but not the SATA cable). SATA cables are pretty cheap and easy to find/order. I have been running a ton of games off of this drive and it has performed beautifully. This is one of Samsung's top of the line SSDs and it acts like it. You will not be disappointed.

I had gotten an HP laptop as a gift with and Intel i5 gen8 processor and a 2TB HDD. It is such a nice laptop however is was so slow and glitchy that it was almost unusable. I would have to wait 20 minutes after getting to the desktop to actually do things but it would still take forever with excessive lag in the keyboard. After doing some research I decided to go with the Samsung 860 EVO over some other comparable devices (ex: Sandisk & Crucial). The Samsung data migration worked flawlessly in transferring everything from my old HDD to this SSD. I went from 2TB or storage to 500GB however I never saw myself even coming close to using 2TB so I opted for the 500GB since it was under $100. I transferred all of my data from the HDD to SSD with a USB to SATA converter & Samsung data migration. After I installed this SSD, I noticed a HUGE difference. The boot time is under 10 seconds. No longer have keyboard lag & now the laptop is lightning fast. This is definitely the best purchase I have made at best buy and I recommend this SSD to anyone looking to upgrade their HDD to a SSD. Most people can definitely change out the hard drive by themselves, its super easy (depending on the laptop).

My laptop is over five years old, and the only aspect that could have been upgraded on it was to switch from an HDD to an internal SSD. This fit perfectly, and was a breeze to install. The difference was immediately noticeable as my system boots in just 5 seconds. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I put one of these in my 2011 MacBook Pro years ago and it’s still working well. So when I needed to replace the crashed hard drive on another person’s MBP, this was a no-brainer. The cost of SSDs has dropped tremendously over the years. This one is easy to install, works well and seems to last a long time.

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro 17" that had been on a downward slope towards the grave for some time. Apps that used to be a breeze to open started taking longer and longer to load. Chrome had slowed down to the point of constant frustration. I had replaced the HDD once already before with an Apple replacement due to hardware failure a few years back and it seemed to be heading that way again. After about a year of "just dealing with it" (AKA not really using the computer anymore) I decided to invest in an SDD and memory upgrade. I purchased a hard drive transfer case along with the SDD to aid in the swap. My Mac instantly came back to life with the faster drive and doubled memory. I would certainly recommend this to anyone with an older Mac having performance issues. **Note: You will need a T6 Torx bit or screwdriver to remove the mounting hardware from the old HDD to reuse on the new drive.**

I purchased this drive to install in my aging Mac Book Pro. The difference both in size and speed is exceptional. Boot times increased and seek and write times are far superior to what the original drive would allow. Excellent value and performance and very easy to install.

This thing has given me money’s worth. Bought last year during the black friday and still running with no issues! Speed is fast and the brand itself is reliable. No heating issues and very light weight. Booting time has significantly improved and app loading time has also shortened.

I bought this drive because my last Hard drive on my Mac broke down. This drive was affordable enough and it runs incredibly faster and much more silently. I've also noticed that my mac doesn't get incredibly scorching hot anymore which is a plus. I love this drive, wish I had bought the one with more memory

I bought this SSD to store all of the games on my gaming computer. My games load SO much faster now and I'm typically the first person loading into a match. I highly recommend the Samsung EVO line of drives because of their reliability, speed, and overall value.

Honestly this would be getting 5 stars if it weren't for it coming with the worst software of any SSD. Samsung Magician used to be the best in early versions but since they added the requirements to place the drive internally before use with it (Making it useless for transfers via USB external) it's gone downhill. Also the serial reading component makes it not read the drive frequently. I buy 2-3 of these or similar Samsung SSD's for work a month but wouldn't if I didn't have a copy of Easeus Partition Master, Backupper Technician Edition, and Acronis True Image for work. Backupper is the only one of these 3 that works under any circumstances, even when the OS being copied is running. Note that Magician didn't even work with my 970 Evo 1TB I spent a LOT of money on so it probably won't work on anything but a non-OS drive in a desktop PC. Having said all that, I can't just not buy them because the drives themselves are peerless in every way, from speed to access time there's just nothing like Samsung Evo/Pro drives. I've yet to buy one that doesn't come within 1% of the stated performance numbers on the package, nothing else even comes close. 5 Stars for the hardware, 0 for the software, that makes it 4 stars for me since the drive itself is most important.

Samsung Evo SSDs are pretty much the standard for a desktop or laptop device. They are faster than a lot of other brands, but not the fastest. They are reliable though, and for the price, there isn't much better. I have several in different machines, dating back to the Evo 840, still going solid.

Reliable and fast, works well in a RAID setup. Might be better off getting an M.2 SSD if your computer supports it, but if you don't need those insane speeds, then it's great.

I got this to upgrade from a mechanical drive. This thing is fast! Programs load almost instantly. Boot times dramatically sped up. At the time it was the right price. Got it for 56 dollars. Well worth it. Also I heard Samsung was the best as far as SSD's go.

Purchased this Samsung 860 EVO 500 GB SSD as a backup for my digital photo images, which are typically large files, and it's doing a great job. It's fast and reliable. Installation as a second drive on my desktop was easy. These are great drives and I recommend them without reservation.

This was an excellent upgrade for my internal Ps4 hard drive. Was easy to install as well. This SSD drive increased my access speed and made game play much faster. I highly recommend. And the price wasn't to hard on my wallet either.

I bought this drive because of the reviews about solid state drives. I needed a little more speed and consistency from my system. I got more than I expected. My system is faster and more reliable. And you are free from drive de-fragmenting. Wish I had bought the 1 TB drive

This hard drive was very easy to install and transfer existing data to - and it worked perfectly straight out of the box. Overall, a solid choice at a very reasonable price, and particularly recommended for using as an OS drive to improve startup speeds.
