First, thanks to Bestbuy for best price. Evo 970 is smaller than i think and faster than specifications on samsung web site according to Crystalmark. After removing the 5400 rpm 1 tb garbage disk Evo made an incredible performance improvement which is at least 20 times faster. My lenovo was restarting in 5 minutes. Now it is 20 seconds in energy saving mode. I am adding the screenshoots about what i see.

Speed is one of the main concerns in my laptops. Replaced with original 256GB SSD on "Samsung - Notebook 9 Pro" laptop and I can fell the difference. Now, Windows 10 is booting in less than 10 seconds. This is one of the best improvements for having a fast booting laptop.
Attached is the Crystalmark benchmark results.

One word fast.
Well worth the money. If you have the extra cash I would go with the evo 970 pro even faster. Huge difference in speed. Boots in about 4 1/2 seconds.

Should these last longer than 14 months? This Is round 3 on this same chip-drive model that has a “5 Year” warranty

Ive purchased two of these so far, and they have both performed great! Laptop PC was already fast but now is lightening quick. I use them in two gaming laptops, one which was equipped with a 1 TB HHDD and one equipped with an older 1 TB SSD, and both have seen speed increases with this drive as the primary OS drive. Has even brought a performance boost to particular games I play on my primary 17' gaming laptop.
One thing to note is that I originally experienced some overheating after installation with one of the two drives I purchased, particularly when playing a CPU-heavy favorite game of mine. After updating the Samsung Magician software (there was also a windows update released around that time) everything went back to normal, with me being able to play for hours without any heating concerns or issues. Others have mentioned heating issues, but one (or both) of the updates mentioned resolved this for me on the one device that had any issue.
Highly recommend, as you get great performance for the price, especially if you can catch one of these on sale.

Blazing Fast

This drive is worth every penny, I built a new Ryzen 7 rig with an Asus Prime X470-Pro (I don't recommend the mobo), and I never wait for anything storage related. I get boot times with a lot of startup programs in the ballpark of 10 seconds. I never see the Windows loading screen. Top notch. I've been using the drive daily since July and have seen no speed drops, with the drive at about 85% usage now.

I made this my boot drive on a new Dell 3670 with 12 GB DDR4 2666 MHz RAM and an 8th generation i5 CPU.. the system is rocket fast! This is much faster than the SATA SSD I installed before although the SATA SSD is still five times faster than a 7200rpm hard disk. For small reads and writes the performance is about the same between NVMe and SATA SSDs but for many types of operations, the difference in speed is quite noticeable. If you are still using old hard disks, you will be amazed how much faster this is than your outmoded HDD. Installation was easy in my desktop. Be sure to check your motherboard specs before buying.. do your research to ensure you get the most out of this amazing Samsung NVMe SSD. You need a M.2 slot, 2280, PCIe 3 x4. Get the Pro over the EVO if you are doing lots of write operations.. also, larger SSDs last longer than small ones. Samsung Magician software will set up the unused portion of the disk and run TRIM to maximize disk life. Benchmarks and SMART tests can be run from Magician too.

This is the best and fastest drive I have ever had by far. Replaced my 250gb 960 evo with this new 512gb 970 Pro in literally minutes! Using Samsung’s excellent cloning software, I cloned the 960 to an old 840 Pro, replaced the 960 with the 970 and rebooted with the 840, then cloned the 840 to the 970. Literally took maybe 10 minutes total! Technology sure has come a long way from the old days. I’m actually seeing double the write performance for the 970 Pro over the 960 evo. I’ve attached my first test on the new drive and have subsequently gotten even better results! What’s not to like? With the new lower price it is a steal.

How fast does your car need to be? How fast does your hard drive need to be? They are similar questions. Though it's cool to have a car that goes from zero to 60 in 4 seconds, you don't need one that goes that fast. And, while a "Pro" NVMe from Samsung might be faster than the "Evo" you don't need that difference. This SSD is wicked fast and is reliable and cheap.

This SSD is incredibly fast. I use it to boot windows and my favorite games, i load windows in less than 10 sec and I'm always the first one to load into any game. This type of SSD is great because it insert straight into the mother board, so less cables.

Excellent NVME Drive!

This is an excellent performing NVME drive by Samsung. I'll be honest. I don't know what the higher tier Samsung models truly offer.
For my purposes though this drive is screamingly fast and I expect the excellent reliability that I get from all the Samsung drives I've owned.
It is probably overkill for most people if gaming is the most intensive activity they use their computer for, myself included. Despite that, I purchased this model for Samsung's excellent reputation for quality and reliability,
If you're willing to pay the small premium over other brands I feel you can't go wrong with this NVME drive. There are higher lever NVME drives offered by Samsung but I feel this one is enough, if not already too much for most consumers.
So buy with confidence and enjoy this drive!

So I bought the HP envy 360 with 8 core CPU R5, 8gb ram and LightOn 128g m.2 ssd. When I opened the cores on the ram to 16, had geeksquad install the Evo 970 500gig m.2 ssd for me, opened up the GPU, and never even overclocked it, its benchmark is beating the specs for HP's gamer 15in version of my machine, and even with facial recognition on, I went from power off to opening web pages just a hair over 9 seconds. Moving data at around 6.7gps now and I highly recommend this. Dont skimp and get the 860 unless it meets your individual needs. The 970 is the flagship of ssd's I have found to exist so far. Even when I'm using the 3.0 USB port to 128g 3.0 USB drive, I'm moving 30% faster. Maxed out at 92mps. Not bad when moving information to a memory stick.

Excellent SSD (NVM-e), 2x faster than SATA SSD

The Samsung 970-EVO SSD (NVM-e) definitely lives up to the hype of NVM-e for Solid State Disks. While Samsung offers a Link to Cloning Software (either Macrium or Acronis), I have always had excellent results with Partition Wizard. "PW" Cloned my 1-TB HDD and all 4 Partitions (GPT, Not MBR) over to the 500-GB Samsung Evo with no problems, in approximately 30 minutes. I then changed my Boot Order from Toshiba HDD to EVO SSD, and my Intel-I7 system booted in less than 20 seconds. Been working great for about a week now. Very Impressed.

I cannot think of one complaint. I had to update my motherboard's BIOS and reinstall windows but it was worth it for this incredible speeeeed. You would not believe how fast this thing is. I had been a little anxious about getting it because I've read reviews saying it overheats or throttles at 70c but I have limited cooling in my computer case and it never gets near 70c outside of intensive benchmarking software. Though, I would not put it beneath a very hot graphics card like I actually do. Definitely worth the price of admission. Plus it has a long warranty.

Samsung continues to lead the way with their SSDs. I was happy to move from a traditional SATA SSD to a new M.2 Drive, faster than ever. I also like that it fits right on the motherboard. No need for cables or anything. If you're looking to upgrade, I say look no further than Samsung for your SSD needs. I've been using one variant of Samsung SSDs for almost 6 years now with no issues, and the tool that copies your OS from one drive to another works great.
