What's not to love about this ultrabook? Sleek styling, touch screen, speakers, and the components. This guy is a little on the pricey side, however, you can pay more for an Macbook pro and not get the same performance numbers as this one. Having said that, this little beast isn't for everyone, if you're doing simple web browsing, word processing, and emails, look at something that's not as strong/expensive as this one, you don't need it. If you are needing something more of a power house, this is your ultrabook. I can't tell you it's a good gaming computer as I haven't played any on it besides simple app games that came with it (i.e. Plants vs. Zombies). If you do decide to purchase it, you won't regret it, well, maybe Windows 8.1. The plus about having 8.1 on this machine is that it is touch screen and I feel 8.1 is meant to be installed on touch screen devices only. It doesn't make sense for it to be installed on non-touch screen devices. I'm assuming that Microsoft is in full gear to bring touch screen devices (tablets, phones, laptops and all-in-ones) to their future business.

Overall I've been very impressed with the clarity of the display and the performance of most apps with this processor. It's very light and portable and it quite easily handles all the apps I use. My voice software is still not as quick as I would like but it might be the inherent foibles of the software and its interaction with Windows 8 rather than the Samsung hardware. The Samsung "Advisor" app has yet to be helpful to me, but perhaps over time I will find some use for it. I can't really complain too much about this laptop except that users should be prepared to clean fingerprints from time to time. The one real problem I have with it is that my accounting app, Quicken, does not scale well with the high-resolution screen. I have to jump in and out of "large font" mode in order to be able to read some of the text. I am hoping that over time the Quicken app designers will adapt. Other than this issue, everything looks great and operates with ease.

I bought this Book9 i7 to produce & present interactive stories & eLearning...I bought a 20" monitor for authoring & love it! I also have an iMac that I have been use to...but love the sleek design, hi speed, hi resolution & light weight of the Samsung Book 9. It's powerful enough for authoring & portable when presenting to my clients.

I looked at this laptop for awhile before I decided to finally purchase it and I love it. It's super thin, fast, and has a super crisp screen. I havnt had a problem with it yet. Having all Samsung devices makes it easier as well to be able to connect to my phone and tablet.

After much research, I decided to get a laptop rather than a tablet or 2-in-1. This baby does not disappoint, There are other, more technical reviews from other users that you should read, but this review is just a vote of confidence for this laptop. I've had it over a year now, and am still glad I made the decision I did. I prefer this keyboard over the traditional one. Love the back lighting. While the screen does not tilt beyond 180-degrees, that works for my purposes. I travel with it all the time and love its light weight, Touch screen is responsive. I bought a Logitech Bluetooth mouse for mousing needs, and they are a perfect combo. If you really want a tablet, get a tablet or 2-in-1. If you want a laptop that is highly portable, fun to use, and super....this is the one!

Great hardware but unfortunately windows is not able to mimic what a mac with retina display does. The icons are too small. The image is beautiful. But Samsung really need to work with windows to adapt windows 8 to take advantage of this screen. Another issue is this laptop is an ultra book but is really heavy

    The Real Deal

I purchased this model after having the i5 version for a couple of weeks. It was great, but realizing this was a keeper, I upgraded to the i7 version since I plan to keep this a long time. The machine (both versions) arrived in flawless condition, no minor quirks or flaws as has been seen in reviews on other devices. Samsung has its quality control act together. Set up was very easy. The display, keyboard, touchpad are all a pleasure to see and use. Everything feels and is solid. No point discussing the shortfalls of Win 8.1 since all new machines will have this so it's oddness crosses all devices it is on. I appear to be getting much better battery performance than expected based on reviews. I disabled auto display brightness adjustment and use manual on high setting. I also have Bluetooth and wireless running continually. Seems like I get 7.5 to 8 hours although honestly I just don't use the machine constantly for that long but after several hours I generally have 75% battery power left. Plenty for my needs. I watched wifi live stream TV on a 5 1/2 hour flight and had something like 20% left after landing. In any case, plenty of time unless you are having some kind of competition with another brand. The i7 with 8 g memory is really fast and a noticeable difference from the i5 although the i5 is plenty powerful. Depends on what you do and how much you want to invest really. No complaints about the wifi connection is strong and consistent. The fan is fairly silent, but it will get quite warm on the bottom if there isn't clearance for airflow. Weight and thinness are all cream on this laptop. It's just a great machine Couple of minor observations. Inside and out the thing grabs fingerprints/ smudges much more than you would expect. I don't know why ( and, yes I do wash my hands regularly). The cover and inside flat surface around the touchpad area seem worse than the display for grabbing prints. Have a cloth handy if this will bother you. I also think that at this price point, the leather sleeve that is included if you buy directly from Samsung ( at a slightly higher price btw) should be included regardless of where it is purchased. Seems petty to not have it part of the bundle for close to 1800 bucks. It's not a very pricy add on. Thankfully it does have a nice solid ethernet dongle included. I also found a good number of useless Samsung and MS apps that aren't very helpful pre-loaded. Easy to delete but just mentioning. I agree with the first reviewer that Samsung Help and especially Samsung Advisor app are useless and for the later quite annoying. If you buy this, delete that one first; you'll thank me later. Overall a fairly perfect machine worth the price. If you are looking for a full powered highly capable ultrabook that performs like a desktop replacement, this one if for you. Thanks for reading.
