Ordered this dishwasher in April 2015 simply because I put Samsung Chef's Collection in the rest of my kitchen and I wanted it to match. It showed up with the Best Buy truck but had to wait for the 3rd party installer to show. When he walked in he said, " Wow, I've never seen one of these before." (not comforting) and proceeded to unbox and install my dishwasher. I had quite a few issues over the next month with the unit leaking, not closing or not finishing cycles. After a service call and no resolution, I contacted Geek Squad again and they told me I was eligible to receive a new unit and have a re-install. They showed up, delivered and installed the new unit and since then it's been the best dishwasher I've ever owned.
I'm coming out of a high-end Bosch dishwasher and before I bought this Samsung - Waterfall unit, IT was the best dishwasher I had ever owned. We have an open floor plan in our house so noise is a factor. Noone wants to hear dishes being washed while watching TV or listening to music. I'm totally serious when I say that I can't even tell if this thing is on half the time. It's unbelievably quiet. I use Finish and Jet Dry and this machine does a really good job with them. All my dishes come out spotless and the zone boost seems to really work well.
Geek Squad was great through the whole experience. Even though I was frustrated with the first unit, I never felt like I was getting the runaround. Since the re-install I have NO complaints and only high praise and compliments for this unit. Yes, it's an expensive dishwasher. It's also the best dishwasher I've ever owned.
I hate to throw the installers under the bus, but It seems like these high end units are VERY particular and need to be installed and balanced with a little more care and precision that a standard unit. Maybe in some areas the installers don't see enough of them to have enough experience installing them. Either way... having the guy that showed up to install my new expensive dishwasher look at it like it was alien technology was not comforting.

I wish that I had read reviews before purchasing this dishwasher. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this machine to anyone. We bought the The dishwasher we replaced had worked for 25 years. This Samsung product lasted 18 months and we have given up and are disposing it. When we had only had the unit 8 months we got an HE1 error and because it was still under warrrantee the Geek Squad came out and located the problem. They ordered new parts (the computer board had to be replaced) and repaired it. The door was already rusting and I spent literally 4 hours on the phone to Samsung asking that they replace it, but they refused, saying that it was a cosmetic issue. Now less than a year later, the machine is once again showing the HE1 error and will not finish a cycle. Because we don't have the extended warrantee there is nothing that can be done. We have decided to replace it with a slightly used Bosch machine instead. The machine cost approximately $900 when we bought it and i can honestly say it was the very worst use of that money imaginable. I feel so strongly about it i often fantasize about standing next to the machine in the store so that I can warn people away from it!

We read all the reviews ahead of time and were very wary of buying this dishwasher with all the same complaints. We were assured by our best buy sales person that Samsung had pulled all of these dishwashers off the shelf and no longer sold them for a while to correct this door latch issue. Therefore, we went ahead and purchased it thinking we were getting a new 2015 model with the door latch issue corrected. Little did we know we ended up receiving an Oct 2014 model. We just had our dishwasher installed yesterday and used it for the first time today and it leaked all over our floor. Sure enough it was the LE indicator that so many others have complained about. This leaves us to believe that Samsung has not corrected the door latch issue. We will be calling Best Buy tomorrow and Samsung on Monday when they open! Buyers be ware! Ours also was NOT QUIET AT ALL! We were told by our sales person that it should be so quiet you would never hear it running! HA! Not the one we received! It was a lot louder than our old 17year old GE Profile dishwasher that finally broke.

Best dishwasher ever. Cleans from end to end and has separate tray for those expendive knives so as not to wear out edge of blade. The 1hour wash cycke is effective for everyday dush washing. It conserve energy wuth fkexibke dushwashing area selection. At $950 or less the price is a goid investment in a vety quite and reliable machine.

Broken after 9 months

I love our Chef Collection kitchen (refrigerator, gas range, microwave) but I would never recommend this dishwasher to anyone. I would estimate that about 40% of the time dishes come out with food still on them. This is not due to overloading, wrong soap, burnt-on food, etc. -- it is completely unpredictable. Sometimes the unit will remove cooked-on food from pots and pans, and sometimes a dinner plate will still have a smear of ketchup after going through a cycle.
To seal the deal on this 1-star review, the unit ceased functioning after 9 months of use. We had our new dishwasher installed last spring, started using it the beginning of April, and at the beginning of February the motor that drives the water wall has broken. When that motor goes, the unit can't complete a cleaning cycle (even using the top-rack only setting).
To make matters worse, I purchased the unit on sale over a year ago and simply waited on delivery until our new home was ready to go. Big mistake. The 1-year warranty begins ticking from purchase date. The front of our unit has a big 5-year warranty sticker on "linear motion parts" -- which does cover the broken motor. However, I'm responsible for paying the independent contractor who is doing the work. So we're out another $120 plus tax for labor.
Avoid this lemon!!!

Purchased the dishwasher in June 2014. It worked great for about 10 months when it started stalling 39 minutes before finishing the cycle. I called Samsung and the service was scheduled . It took Apr. 1 week before the serviceman show up. At first he told me that this is happening because my water is not hot enough. I told him that I don't accept his explanation and that there has to be something wrong with the machine. He decided then to replace the mother board. It took another two weeks to get the part. After replacing the MB dishwasher started working. It worked fine for about 3 months and the problem returned. I called Samsung again and they told me I will have to schedule the serviceman again but this time I will have to pay for the repair because my warranty was up. I asked if there was another authorized service in the area since the first one couldn't diagnose the problem correctly. They said they will call me within 24 hours with another contact. One week has passed and I am still waiting.

Purchased the most expensive dishwasher at Best Buy. With the extended warranty it came to over $1500. It looks great, but doesn't function great. The regular wash does not clean the dishes or dry the dishes. When you use the BOOST and SANITIZE and EXTRA DRY it takes 3 hours and still does not get the dishes clean nor gets them dry. When I called Samsung, they told me that I must prewash the dishes. If I prewash the dishes, I really don't need a $1500 dishwasher, but only a $3 dish rack. There were food particles on the dishes and silverware even after a 3 hour cycle. We are taking it back to get the LG with Steam. The reviews for that dishwasher were much better. I don't care what a dishwasher costs, but my only requirement is that it clean the dishes. The only way to get sparkling clean dishes is to prewash the dishes before you put them in. How sad.

Hi Wangel,
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. There are actually some other suggestions that might have helped to resolve the issue, such as checking the spray nozzles for blockage, and making sure the water temperature and pressure meet the recommended levels for best performance. The Condensation Drying technology, which relies on the residual heat from the dishes to evaporate the water and save energy, can be maximized by selecting Sanitize (which you did), and also using a rinse aid and leaving the door closed until the cycle is complete. While I realize you may have already returned your DW80H9970US so may not benefit from these tips, others might.
We appreciate your feedback and wish you the best, Ms. Samsung

Incredibly poor design with control circuitry situated at the bottom of the dishwasher. Take the time to research the infamous LE (Leak Error) error code on Samsung dishwashers. Ours died at the 14 month (2 months out of warranty) mark and the service technician we called said we were lucky that this thing lasted that long. The quote to repair was almost as much as the cost to repurchase so we trashed the Samsung and went with a different brand. One would expect more than one year of service out of such an expensive product. Caveat emptor!

Like many reviewers we are faced with trouble calls, dishwasher leaked water, door won't latch, won't dry all the way, and the worst one is if you run it and don't leave the door open it smells like something died in it. For the price we paid this thing is a polished piece of junk.

Bought the Samsung WaterWall technology dishwasher when we moved into our new house 2 years ago because we didn't want the builder-grade junk - boy were we wrong. Samsung's WaterWall dishwasher started leaking around the door seals once it was out of warranty and the new space age tech touch panel became unresponsive to our touch intermittently. Now that it's 2.5 years old, it has been leaking regularly onto our floor every week and today the control panel won't even turn on. We paid close to $1K for this thing and it's toast already! Meanwhile, the builder's cheapo dishwasher was installed at our bar downstairs and continues to run like a top. Do not buy Samsung's junky dishwashers!

Have been unable to use my new dishwasher for almost 3 months. The machine leaked water all over my floor. The door opened, but did not stop spewing water. The machine stopped in the middle of the cycle and just kept washing. When I was able to stop it, It sat with water in the bottom of the machine until the technician came out. They replaced two latches, one mother board and adjusted the shelf slider. None of the fixes worked. This is an ongoing problem with this machine and should be recalled. After 6 service calls I finally had it replaced with a Kenmore.

My husband and I were very excited by the Water Wall technology...and it still seems like a great innovation. Unfortunately the door does not latch properly, so the dishwasher will not run unless we prop something up against it to force the door to remain closed. We have had FIVE service calls. The last service rep wrote up an order to replace the dishwasher with a different brand. We were told that he had been to several homes ahead of ours, for the same problem and that the latch issue is a known manufacturer problem with this model. Sometimes cool concepts fail in execution for small avoidable problems. We traded for a Kitchenaid.

This dishwasher is absolutely quiet, even while standing right next to it, sounds like a faucet running in a room on the other side of the house. We went with the Chef Collection suite, so this came with the ensemble.

So this $1400+ dishwasher does not dry your dishes. Called and spoke to Samsung and he said 1 hour after it finishes the cycle I must open the dishwasher and let the dishes dry. Otherwise they do not dry and it starts smelling like something died in your dishwasher. Samsung they came out with a new model then this one where they have fixed the issues but that's not helping me after dumping this kinda money on one I can't buy another just to buy the newer model. And trust me we loved Samsung products till now. Would not recommend at all

We moved into our new house on Oct. 28, 2014. The dishwasher was installed a couple of weeks before we moved in. I used it three times before the "LE" indicator came on.........according to the manual, this means leak. We immediately called Samsung for service. It took 1 week to get an appt. Service man was at my house for over an hour and left saying it was fixed. I opened the door of dishwasher to put in dishes two hours later and 'LE' appeared immediately on the front of the unit. I called the folks who 'serviced' the unit directly and another appt. was scheduled for a week's time. The day of the second appt. the service center called and said "a part had to be ordered". Almost two weeks went by before the service man came back. In the meantime, I talked to Samsung and Best Buy about how unhappy I was and that I had been living in my house for almost 4 weeks and had a marginally functioning dishwasher for all of 3 days of that. The repair was done last week. The dishwasher does not clean the dishes, it leaves spots on utensils and it does NOT dry anything. The inside of the unit smells moldy. Extremely disappointed and would never recommend this product. Best Buy has been great and I am currently looking at a new purchase.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, SKH70, though glad the repair has been completed. With regard to the other issues, these can likely be resolved with some simple tips. The User Manual and Samsung's website both offer solutions for the moldy smell. I would suggest wiping down the door edges and areas that can hold moisture but can't be reached when the door is closed. Also, running a cycle with vinegar (see page 22 of the manual) and using the Self Clean option periodically can help to prevent or remove odors. To maximize the performance of Condensation Drying, which helps to save energy compared to heated drying methods, be sure to use a rinse aid, select Sanitize when appropriate, and leave the door closed until the cycle is complete. Cleaning performance can be affected by a number of factors including water temperature and clogged spray nozzles; please refer to the Troubleshooting Tips in the manual or online for help resolving this issue.
