I got this phone as a second for my work, i wanted something inexpensive that still had some nice features! I am blown away really! My primary phone is an iphone 15 pro max, ive always had iphones and am fully immersed in the apple ecosystem, but let me tell you i am pleasantly surprised by this base model phone from Samsung! It makes me wonder what the flagship models of samsung have to offer! To me for basic tasks theres really not too much of a difference between my two phones which now is making me question why i pay thousands for the top of the line iphone when in reality this model samsung or the mid range a35 would probably suit most peoples needs and the price is significantly less! Obviously there are some differences and im not saying this $200 phone is beating my 15 pro max, but i am saying, its much closer than you would think! It also has expandable memory up to 1TB. I would give this phone a shot if youre on the fence. They told me the re stocking fee was $45, the phone is $200, if you have to return its not too much of a loss that i think its worth the jump! If youre an older person looking for a sleek phone thats easy to use or a younger person just looking to save money I dont really see the hesitation with this choice! Great job samsung!

I purchased this phone from BB. It has only been a couple of days but so far I like the phone a lot. My last phone was a MO TO that I had for almost 5 years. It was slowing down and no updates since Android 11. I like the idea that this phone will get updates for 5 years. I'd give it five stars with the following exceptions... It only comes with a cord and no plug. The on off switch on the side has a fingerprint reader on it and it takes some to get used to using. The phone is quite thin and I have big hands. That makes it difficult to hold. I just ordered a case - hopefully that resolves my issue. The other thing that is a little annoying is that it is very symmetrical which means when you pick it up you cannot tell if you are holding it screen side up or down. I have to look at the phone to be sure I'm holding it right to hit the finger print sensor. Another issue I hope goes away with the case. I'll update after getting the case. Some complained about speed. I have no issues there but I am not a gamer.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is a budget-friendly smartphone with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, smooth performance for everyday tasks, and a long-lasting 5,000mAh battery. It has a 50MP main camera that takes decent photos in good lighting but struggles in low light. While it’s not ideal for heavy gaming, it offers six years of software updates, making it a great long-term option for casual users. If you need a reliable, affordable phone with 5G support, this is a solid choice.

Slower Than a 2-Year-Old Moto G

I was excited to upgrade to the Samsung A16, expecting at least a modest improvement over my previous Moto G 2023, but unfortunately, this phone's speed has been a disappointment. The A16 constantly lags and gets stuck, making even basic tasks frustrating. Scrolling through apps, switching between screens, and even typing can feel sluggish.
What’s most surprising is that despite being two years newer, the A16 actually feels slower than my old Moto G. Looking at Geekbench scores, my A16 has a single-core score of 853 and a multi-core score of 1824, compared to my Moto G 2023’s 745 and 1779, respectively. On paper, the A16 should at least match my old phone’s performance, but in real-world usage, the A16 feels noticeably slower which makes it hard to use comfortably.
Aside from the underwhelming speed, the phone does have a decent screen and camera for the price, but I simply can’t recommend it due to the poor performance. I understand that a budget phone isn’t going to be a powerhouse, but I at least expected it to perform as well as my old Moto G. Sadly, that’s not the case.

there are certain things I miss about my old phone that the new one does not do, like having to press ok after typing in your pin number... Did not have to do that before. It send messages to my email instead of where it is supposed to go. but other than that it is a good phone. Nice screen and pictures, lots of GB room. Good for my purposes

I purchased this phone couple weeks ago at BestBuys. I read a few of the other reviews that mentioned it was a tad slow due to low ram. I am not typically a purchaser of super high end phones, so can't comment. Works great for me. Love the phone for the price point. For me at this price can't complain.

After having used my new Samsung A16 cell phone, it is NOT as fast as I initially thought. MANY TIMES, I get frustrated when the cell phone DOESN'T respond as quickly as I would like. In addition, the battery drains quite rapidly. I would NOT recommend the Samsung A16 cell phone to anyone.

Laggy and freezes with nothing installed when even trying to just open 1 website. I dismissed that on the reviews and nope is unusable. Those who tell you otherwise they are either involved with the brand or settling for garbage to excuse their purchase and feel better about it. When I open chrome with not even any background app or social media installed with power saving etc disabled, the phone lags and freezes for a few seconds and then catches up. It becomes unresponsive during that. I have older android phones that don’t lag at all and feel faster than this by a long shot. I even have huawei phones from like 8 years ago that are faster than this and was the same price. Crazy that this is on the market. Consumers are becoming waaay to tolerant

I love my A16 5G Galaxy cell phone because it is very user friendly, which makes it fun to use. It has a lot of versatility and functions to use and adapt for other functions. An unlocked pho e is a good idea if you already have a wireless plan, but only need a new cell phone. You are paying for a phone you can afford and want. Storage on phone is plenty and more than others. The size of the phone is just right.

This phone has been an excellent purchase! The display is bright and vibrant, making it great for watching videos and gaming. The battery life lasts all day, even with heavy usage. Performance is smooth, and apps run without lag. The camera takes sharp and detailed photos, especially in good lighting. Overall, it’s a fantastic phone for the price, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly yet powerful device!

This is an incredibly good phone for the price. I decided to go back to android from my iphone se 3rd gen, and this was a great choice. The A16 has a great screen, higher resolution, faster refresh rate, and better battery life. The performance may be a bit less snappy, but it's certainly a solid phone for emails, browsing and videos. For $200 this phone is an absolute gem, even moreso on sale for $175.

I purchased this phone in a pinch, the new Motorola phone I had just bought suddenly quit working while I was out of state. I bought this as an inexpensive replacement to get me thru the job I was on. It performed well and I didn't have any issues with it

Very bad experience. I bought open box cell phone at the store. While charging at home it turned off every 10-15 minutes and I had to turn it on each time. I went online to try to find an option to exchange but there was only option to buy. I saw that open box sells for $40-60 cheaper. The guy at the store sold me open box for full price. I bought online another phone to pick up at the store and went there to return defective open box phone. A guy at customer service wanted to charge me $45 restocking fees ! For defective opened box phone that they sold me for a full price ! After speaking with the manager, and explaining him the issues, manager treated me like I am a fool and said that the phone screen goes black because it goes to a sleep mode . I explained that I know the difference between phone turning off and the phone that goes in sleepjng mode. After spending 45 minutes and waiting for the phone to turn off while nobody is touching it, i was able to return it without paying restocking fees for defective opened box phone which they sold me for a full price. Very bad experience!

I've had for 1 month almost. So far I am enjoying it, especially the battery life and screen. If I have a few apps open at once it might start to lag, only having 4 gb of ram, so I try to close out apps frequently. Just have to keep expectations in check, this is a >$200 phone when on sale.
