excellent tablet packed into 8"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased tbe Note 8 to replace my Note 10.1 that I broke. I debated this amd the iPad Minias I decided I wanted a smaller form factor. The screen resolution is excellent amd there is a dedicated reading mode that really makes the text crisp and clean looking. I also like the aspect ratio versus the iPad. Compared to the Note 10.1 this device feels solid. However it is slick to the touch, so buy a case. The processor is snappy and I have experienced no lag at all. The only thing that seems a little slow is the wifi, and that could ne my router too. It has been acting up sometimes. The Note 8 comes packed with a lot pf apps and useful tools, especially thd S pen. Battery life is stellar and much better than the Note 10.1. My recommendation is to buy this if you are looking for a premium tablet smaller than standard.

BEST TABLET FOR THE PRICE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello, I am a college nursing student. I did not see the need to buy a tablet until I saw this. I already owned an iphone, so seeing that I thought I needed this means that this tool can actually be implemented for a lot of things. For one, the stylus is a great tool. As a student in all my college classes, I use this to pull up power points, simultaneously taking notes. Battery life gets me through the day well, I use bluetooth and play games on it. Watching videos is amazing, especially when you can multitask. Watching music videos and looking up lyrics is no task at all. The user interface is very friendly, anyone can pick it up. Let me tell you all the features on this tablet makes it outperform the ipad mini. EASILY. I'm sorry, I was not an android phone, and I was hooked to iOS. But you can do so much more on this tablet than you could ever do on an ipad. Take my word for it, go demo one out and buy it from best buy. The design is nice, if you have big hands, one hand operation is easy. I bought a *folio leather case* for this only 10 bucks on ebay, and it makes the perfect companion. I take it everywhere I go, it is my music library, and now my new mobile laptop. My conventional laptop has been replaced, as I hardly open it up unless I have to write papers. I have used it for 2 weeks now, and trust me, there are no flaws. I can play grand theft auto vice city on it with ease, sims freeplay and even call of duty: zombies! what more could you ask for? go get one.

Great tablet, but could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mostly, I prefer the Galaxy Note 8.0 to my Nexus 7, however I would very much rather have Google's stock Android UI instead of TouchWiz. A minor irritation is the touchscreen's sensor inaccuracy: I usually have to touch just below whatever I'm targeting, and there is no touchscreen calibration app that I know of. The touch sensor also fails to detect taps on occasion. Otherwise, this tablet is fast, light, and thin. Great for e-reading, web surfing, games, and everything else. I use my GN8 throughout the day and the battery life is excellent. The display is bright and offers rich color with deep black. The back camera produces high quality photos and video, while the front camera does a good job for video chat. I installed a SanDisk 64GB microSD card, which works flawlessly. It's very well designed, and I think it beats the iPad Mini in every way.

greatest tech device I've ever purchased!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I type this review from this new device, I must say this is the greatest electronic gadget I've ever purchased! My friends ave Kindle Fire HDs and Apple iPads, but my Samsumg tablet blows them out of the water! As a student, I can use this tablets power, battery sustainably, and light weight as a replacement for my laptop in my backpack. For leisure, the screen is incredible for playing videos and games! I can even type faster on this device (like right now) than I can texting with my phone. My only complaint seems to be a bug with the sound muting unexpectedly. The media volume will mute and not allow you to turn it back on until after a quick restart. Maybe I just can't figure out how to prevent this from happening? This device has absolutely appalled me and it is well worth the pricetag!

Perfect tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a 10" tablet and sold it to get this one and I am so glad that I did! This side is somethibg that I could take with me even easier then ever! And its a very fast quad core processor. I love that I can use this tablet as a smart remote. I have also found this absolutly useful to take quick notes for reminders! And along witb all of the other features of android that I already love just goes faster when it does it. Great companion to go with my Galaxy s3 and soon to be Galaxy s4. The features and integration of samsung products with media is also amazing! Hands down thisisprobably my favorite tablet I have tested and I have tested many different phones and tablets I work with thdm almost every day. Highly recomend this tablet if u have the money for it.

simply awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a very long time die hard Apple user but then the Samsung Galaxy S4 was born. I started with the S4 and quickly fell in love, realizing the potential of Android coupled with Samsung, I knew I needed to expand my functionality with the Note 8.0. The Note 8.0 is hands down the best tablet currently available. The stylus allows me to sign business documemts without having to print so the functionality of esigning goes well beyond anything offered by Docusign or other comparable programs. I could go on and on but anyone who has spent even a little bit of time on the Note 8.0 will know exactly what I'm talking about. All of the features are well covered in the many reviews available. I will say, however, that the battery life is awesome! I can go all day long with heavy usage on a single charge. The battery life is just as good as the ipad if not better. The Note 8.0 is definitely for power users but even the casual user will enjoy everything the Note 8.0 has to offer.

perfect size and vivid graphic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.People are comparing this to the iPad mini and the Nexus 7, but there is no comparison, as this comes with the S Pen digitizer stylus. It is a premium price for this feature, but I love the S Pen, I'm sick of capacitive styli, and I was willing to pay for this feature. If you aren't interested in having a digitizer stylus, then there are a host of 7-8 inch class tablets for a lot less money. If you want a tablet with this feature that's less that 10 inches, this is your baby. I don't find the resolution to be a problem with any but the smallest fonts, and the system is powerful enough to be fast and fluid in every way. Other people have covered pros and cons fairly well, so I'll add some other things I noticed: The Note 8.0 uses the same Micro USB cable and 5V 2 Amp charger that came with my Galaxy Note 2. I'm used to the proprietary connection on larger tablets, so this was an unexpected perk. There's a lack of cases out there right now for this size device, but I have a Timbuck 2 sleeve for my old Kindle 2 that fits perfectly. The inside dimensions of the sleeve are 150 mm by 222 mm (5-7/8 inches by 8-3/4 inches#, and it fits perfectly. You could probably fit it in a case with the inside dimensions of 140 cm x 212 cm, but you'd need some depth to the case #a sleeve that tight might not fit).

Just love love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Galaxy Note 10 inch and found it to be to big and on the last day that I could return it this one was available. I am so glad that I return the larger one and got this smaller one. I do genealogy for clients and it works well for adding notes to what I take pictures of, as well as having the ability to take regular notes when doing research. I chose not to get a wifi card but I just go get some coffee after my research and upload their info while relaxing. I was able to find a nice case after I got it in about 2 days so all is well now. I have the Galaxy SIII and when setting up the note it synced everything so well it freaked me out, the apps that are installed like Polaris Office and Flipboard are so cool. Everyday I try to learn something new on how to take full advantage of this little powerhouse, This size and speed are going to blow away the competition.

Worth the Extra Bucks it Costs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me begin by saying that I have never been the biggest fan of Samsung or Droid for that matter but this tablet has gone a long way toward changing my mind. I have used a number of tablets but have never seen anything like this one when it comes to using the pen to work on the screen. It is the most accurate and realistic I have ever found, making it so easy to take hand-written notes, make annotations on pdf documents, pictures, etc., or just write on about anything. It has a powerful, fast processor. It runs all the droid apps and basically performs very well as a tablet. I suggest that if you write with your finger or a stylus that you give this unit a try. I was positively amazed and think iPad should take notes - using the Samsung Note 8.0 of course. :-)

Note 8.0
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE this tablet! I originally had the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 red edition, but was incredibly disappointed when I purchased a stylus that was hit and miss in writing. I am a graduate student and wanted to be able to use my tablet to take lecture notes, etc. When I found out the Note 8.0 came out I knew I wanted to test out the writing ability with the s-pen. I was sold after using the pen as it does a great job of not registering one's handwriting. In addition, I love the size. In my opinion it's the best size for those that want a tablet on the go. For me the 10" tablets were just too big and the 7" that I had prior to this just felt too small. As a student that needs portability on the go, this tablet works well for me. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be able to take handwritten notes on their tablet. In my opinion, the s-pen is the best feature of this tablet. The pen alone made it worth the purchase price for me. Oh and in addition, I also got a 6month subscription to webroot thrown in free which was awesome. Would I purchase it again if given the opportunity? Absolutely! It rocks!

More durable and lighter than expected.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently bought this tablet for my girlfriend who just graduated with her Master's in Special Ed. and is currently a 1st grade teacher. I went back and forth between this and the Ipad Mini and this one won out by a large margin. She loves the "S Pen" feature which allows her to take notes and develop lesson plans. She is also a fan of the multi-tasking feature which allows her to access email and surf the web or youtube all on the same screen without switching tabs or browsers. There is still a lot to explore and she is really excited with it!

Open Box was Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my Note 8.0 as an open item and it has been pretty awesome so far. It was really just a toy purchased to replace a first generation iPad, so I do not use it on a daily basis. I have used it to watch Netflix and the picture was great, and the screen size is perfect for reading and video while remaining portable. I like how precise the handwriting is in SNote, which I use for writing out my grocery list so that I can look up recipes while I am on the go. My only complaint was with the set up process. I had to make at least two different accounts for it and I now receive quite a bit of spam e-mail even though I opted out of e-mail updates. It was just frustrating to have to go in and unsubscribe even though I chose not to subscribe in the first place.

Great tablet!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a Note 10.1 but didn't like the screen resolution for reading and it was a little hard to handle. However, the Note 8.0 is the perfect size for reading, entertainment, and note taking. Text is clear and magazines look great. Netflix looks very good as well. I use this for notes during church and the split screen is fantastic! The pen is responsive and feels and works even better than my Note 2. I would highly recommend this product to anyone!

Great idea and application, but expensive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, let me say that if you don't need/care about the stylus feature, this is not the tablet for you. -you can stop here if that's you! For the rest of us though, you may go on :) Background: I originally discovered the world of writing tablets with Samsung's note 10.1 and loved it...and honestly I don't think they've bested that attempt yet (even with the 2014 edition). The only decent alternative on the market currently is the surface pro. While it does write better, it costs you an arm and a leg...probably both legs. I think Sony and possibly a few other manufacturers have come out with their own versions but they're all essentially the same. I also think the writing feature with the Android OS is neat because it allows a little more cross-app support than the surface pro might. - just a sidenote. Meaning you can generally take advantage of the S-pen for more apps and general use than you would with the surface pro's stylus. Actual Review: That being said, this is a pretty good shot by Samsung to break into the smaller-tablet market with the note series. However, it is unnecessarily overpriced. For some reason, Samsung thinks the note feature is worth 100-plus dollars on the price...which I think is ridiculous. This tablet has a few hiccups in general use, although it's nothing to muddy the experience in my mind. The cameras are pretty bad, but hopefully that's not why you would buy a tablet. The battery life is respectable, although it's not going to impress you. However, the experience is solid. I called it a 'smart-journal' because it essentially feels like just that. If you were to pull up your favorite leather journal and put in apps and Android on top of it, this is what you would get. If you liked the note 10.1, this is definitely the smaller version of that with a few sacrifices. Ultimately, it lost a star because it's just too expensive for what it is. Samsung seems to be attempting to price-match with Apple when it comes to the note series, but that's not why most people settle on Android devices. They like to save a few bucks...just look at the Nexus 7. Also, it seems most Samsung devices lag behind in getting Android updates...which annoys me. But if you are someone who doesn't pay attention to all that, you probably won't even notice. NOTE: (no pun intended) If you are just now considering purchasing this tablet, it may be worth it to wait and see if Samsung will release an updated version anytime soon. It will undoubtedly be better. It will cost you more though.
