I've never had a table before, I'm a newbe at this, but i've had general knowledge of how one would work. The fact that this tablet had an 8 inch screen and is well known for the spen capabilities sold me to get it. I can truly say i am very satisfied. This is a device i didn't know i needed until I got it. The fact that there are apps for everything is fantastic. In these couple of weeks i've been able to modify PDFs, used two apps at a time, take notes everyday for work and personal use, i used a great app for budget managing, an app for poker, an app for flashlight (although the camera doesn't have a flash), compass, etc etc. So i use it every single day. The batter does need some taking care of. What i mean is always make sure you close all the apps and through the RAM manager, close any other lingering programs that usually use about 700 to 800k of RAM. Once you do the cleanup, which takes 60 seconds at most, the battery runs nicely. I've also had no lag whatsoever. It once, only once, froze on me while shutting down skype. Not sure why but it had the symptoms of memory starvation, probably caused by the app. I haven't had that experience ever again and I use skype constantly to talk to family abroad. The camera is not so great. If you don't zoom it is OK, once you zoom you see instant pixelation. I can still take great pictures though, and this wasn't my primary purpose for buying a tablet. The 16gb available memory is cut to 9gb approximately. That's not so great. But you have the ability to expand to 32gb, that's awesome, because memory chips are cheap. And finally the 4star rating is only because they could have made the product better in terms of processing power, display, hdmi (without adapter), camera, and they could have incorporated the hand gestures capabilities that the S4 now has (although i saw an app for like 7.99 i think that can do this) because the 399 price I pay calls for it. Overall it is what i needed. I can't live without it now. And please buy the cover, it is excellent Ohh one more thing, I read books on it too. And i have to say, even though the weight is at par with all the other industry leading tabs, it does take a toll on your arms. I get tired from holding it for too long. But i can't complain about the weight, i mean, how much more lighter can they make a device which has so much incorporated in it.... right?

If you are an Apple fan, you shouldn't use this product... it might be too hard for you guys. For the others, think about it, is galaxy note 8.0 worth $400? look at other products like the Galaxy note 10.1. If you made your choice, I guarantee this device will blow you mind! IT IS THAT GOOD.

I had my note for over 1 month now. If you are looking for a light, space-saving and multitasking tablet that you could use in the class and at home, I think the note is a winner. It's a perfect size for me to carry around. (apple mini is too small, ipad and Samsung 10.1 is too big to hold since I have small hands). Overall it's a good tablet. However I gave it 4 star because ONLY 9GB usable space available out of 16GB. I feel a little cheated because I didn't expect that half of the space was already taken by Samsung. Although it offers additional SD slot, but some of the files for some reason cannot be saved on it. If Samsung can pre-warn consumer or mention this ahead of time, I will give it a 5 star.

Just picked it up over the weekend and so far i've been very impressed. I'm a very savvy user and I did TONS of research before I decided to buy. I really had to battle with Samsung vs the iPad mini. I do feel that apple makes better apps than android however I could not live with the thought of knowing that if I would've bought the Ipad mini, the iPad mini 2 would be coming out right after and would have no cross compatibility. I hate that Apple does that to its customers. After paying $400 bucks (after taxes) I do not plan on buy another tablet anytime soon so I want something thats going to grow with me. It gave me great comfort knowing that Android will still offer updates after it upgrades the Note 8 (you know its coming) and I can add storage space as need (huge factor). I am grown man that just wanted a new toy for my man cave so I wouldnt say this purchase was necessary. I love the fact that I can control my TV with it, so i literally never have to put it down. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase so far.

I had the iPad Mini and couple other ones. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 beats it all! I like s pen and the 8" screen size to me its just the right size. The tablet is responsive and fast.

Perfect size. So handy for e-mails, travel, allowing me to be away from desktop. Using stylus with notes is very handy for games, no looking for a pen and paper to help me remember a hint for the game.

I bought this tablet for business and so far it's been great. It works well, it's not the cheapest out there, but it's also not the most expensive. So I'd go for it!

Actually gave my iPad to my wife .. never became a true Apple lover .....have an Android phone(which I will sync to) .. the Samsung note 8.0 seems (have had it for only a few days) to be a really nice unit .. screen is excellent - bright & crisp ..... handles most of my web browsing absolutely fine .. I like the fact I will be adding a 32 GB sd card for greater storage ... only downside so far is I am not overly impressed with scrolling from page to page when reading the Wall Street Journal on my daily commute ..... there is tons more of functionality which I am only starting to learn .. very impressed with the S pen and what I will be able to do with it ........very satisfied & would definitely recommend to a friend !!!

I got the 8.0 on the first day and was able to take transcribed notes and draw sketches without any issues. I can do lots of tasks easily and the screen is a joy to read on. But like most tech today there are drawbacks too. So here's what I've found so far; Pros -Great pen support including fluid line weight in certain apps. -Useful and fun s-pen apps. -A beautiful and bright screen makes everything look great. Much nicer than Samsung's AMOLED screens. -Everything runs really smoothly on the tablet. No delays or stutters. -Quick connectivity to several different types of wi-fi. -Light and good look tablet. -The Touch-Wiz interface is easy to use and flexible at the same time. -No problem with a few different microSD cards up to 64gb. -Other S-Pens work including one with an eraser. -3rd party accessories are already out including cases. Cons -Poor video codec support, you can't even get 3rd party apps to play flv files. This alone cost the Note 8.0 one star. -Battery life is not that long, though with a few adjustment and installing Juice Defender it's OK. I'd have preferred a heavy device that lasted longer. -Without a case, the tablet is slipper and hard to hold. -No wireless charging. I know that's not common, but at the price it isn't that much to ask. -And the last nit-pick is that I don't like the physical home key when everything else including the other buttons are controlled by the S-Pen. You HAVE to use a finger to get home. It also detracts from the design IMHO. Hardly the end of the world, but still kind of dumb when other Samsung devices work fine with a virtual home button.

As others have said, this is a great tablet, with all the features and tools you want in a fun/business tablet. HD screen would be the icing on the cake, but the screen is still very nice. If you have a samsung phone, especially a Galaxy Note 2, this thing is the perfect compliment to it, and you will think you are using a 8 inch version of the Note! Highly recommended, especially if you want to take lots of notes, and handle it like a large phone..

Perfect blend of size, performance and features!! Wish it had more connection options though (hdmi etc) still a solid tablet!

I was deciding between the ipad min and samsung galaxy tab and happy I chose the galaxy. Love the display size and picture quality. It's slim body and light weight is perfect for travel and watching videos and movies. I didn't use the s-pen as much in the beginning, but now I use it quite a bit with the note taking apps.

I use my tablet all the time. I use it for everthing. I watch Movies, tv shows, catch up on the news, do research for speeches, read and send email, use it as a phone, for a gps, and comparrison shopping. It's fast and easy to use. There are so many apps. My favorite app is Awesome note a scheduling app.

Loved this the minute I got it. Super fast and great video. Havent really sued the pen a lot though.

I've had this device for a few weeks and I absolutely LOVE it! I am a college student, and I was able to download a lot of my textbooks to my Note! (That option was provided from my school.) My math book weighs about 10lbs and its so nice to leave it at home and just bring my Note to class. I can take notes with the S-pen, make sure all my assignments are on my calendar, create easy and quick 'to-do' lists. I also travel a lot and its great for the maps and of course my daughter can play games and watch movies during our travels. Its a perfect size to carry in my purse and backpack. The clarity of the screen is amazing, great graphics!! It has everything I need for a great price. I use a LOT of its features, so its definitely worth it!

The tablet is so functional for every day uses. As well as being a great product for your down time. The stylus is a great added benefit. But i really believe that people will use the typing availabilty more than the stylus. LOVE this NOTE !!!!!!

I have been using this Galaxy 8.0 for a little over 2 months now. I have to say it . I can't live without it now. My everything is in this little thing. I collect everything using S-pen and pastes on note books. picture chart PDF files...you name it....I love to collect things and summarize things in my own way and Galaxy note helps me to do it so easy! For this, qPDF Notes, LectureNotes are MUST! You will get $25 google play balance when you purchase Galaxy note 8.0 and register it online. so Buying Those apps are not a big deal! If you read things on PDF files and like to jot down or highlight on them or summarize in your own way, Buy this thing! I feel my life is now all organized well. I don't use it for entertainment purpose. so I can' comment on games etc. but I think It sounds great and video quality also good.

I have just gotten the new Samsung galaxy 8.0 note.. I just finished setting it up. Took little time to do. Im loving everything about this more and more as I go though it and learn more . Extremely easy to use. Love the 5megapic cam and the beautiful bright clear display!!

I use my tablet in High School. I use it at home. I love it much more than an iPad. It does everything I want it to. I bought it on the release date, and have had no problems with it. The camera is so much better than my iPhone's 8MP camera.

I am so pleased with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Tablet. I previously had an IPad 2, and believe me, the Note 8 'kilt' it. Very easy to set up and use. I am all smiles!!
