I had a dumb smart phone (fro yo operating system) and had to replace it. I like android phones and Samsung as well. This phone does it all. There are too many things it can do to list them all. I think it is very user friendly as I never read instructions. I like to figure out how things work just using them. It has apps galore to install. I especially love the ability to hit a microphone icon and tell Google to do things for me. It can send texts hands free and make calls from my contact list, hands free. You can also tell it to look up numbers and call them all via the voice activated Google function on the home screen. Nice size screen and the color and contrast is vibrant. This phone can also take pictures under water. This is nice even if you don't plan doing this because you don't have to be concerned about accidentally getting it wet and trashing the phone. Another nice feature is, if you use a password and then turn off the screen, you can swipe the screen opened again without having to reenter the password within a limited time. I keep finding new things that the phone can do. I would suggest installing a free app called TouchPal X, it will (if you want it to) read what you are texting or emailing (you can also speak your message via a mic) which is a good way to proof read your message effortlessly. It also can do many other things. All in all, great phone, love it.

This phone is excellent! The ease and touch screen are a thing to experience first hand! The camera is unbelievable! You'd think you had taken photos with an expensive HD camera like Nikkon or Minolta. People have commented on "... what a cool phone!" "... is it expensive?" The durability of the 'Active' (weatherproof) feature is true. Dust and other debris don't seem to phase it. Works every time!

not as water resistant as advertised but good for some minor mishaps. screen is very decent. But love the removable battery and SD card. if this is important to you, then this is the phone for you. Usual samsung stuff but with cool tricks.

I bought this because of it be waterproof and being drop proof. the battery life is good and its a bit big.

Best phone on the market , camera options are cool , super fast . Open as many browers as you like multi task . .....cant imagine how they will top this phone. Spent 200 bucks this is a little steep but worth it . Still weighting on a good case to come out otter case armor series or lifeproof ......don't trust the "waterproof" claim but at least not worried about spilling a drink near it ...... overall buy it !!!!!

Although this phone is a real technical whiz, it would be so much more useful for it to come with an original Owner's Manual instead of one that has to be downloaded from the Samsung website. The manual is umpteen pages long, and weighs enough to be used as a defensive weapon! The phone itself is great once I got the hang of the "do-it-yourself" learning process, and the fact that it is pretty much shock and water proof is a real plus. I did obtain the Otter Box Defender Series case/wallet however for a little more peace of mind. In any event, "GREAT JOB SAMSUNG!"

I love this phone! It's connected to my TV, satellite receiver, computer, and tablet. The media interface is nice, even with 30 gigs of music to sort through. The photo and screen resolution is incredible. I haven't had the guts to drop it in the sink yet, but it's good to know I can. Sleek and beautiful too.

I love you this phone because I have children. It hasnt went though any mishaps yes but I have peace of mind for when it does.

I was an iphone user, and yes iphone fanboys can call me a traitor, but I made the transition, and I don't regret it, this phone can do so many things the iphone cant, I just cant list them right now, but I love this phone so much, and the microSD slot is awesome. I do recommend this phone though it took me awhile to transition, it is awesome.

I haven't tested the underwater picture ability so I can't comment on that yet. I had the 3 and am happy that I graduated to the 4 Active in blue. I highly recommend this phone.

This phone is my life companion and is such a perfect size amazing lte speeds. And amazing quad core possessor.

Took a while to figure out how to uninstall factory apps that took over my phone and killed the battery. Good for web and text usage.

Good phone that I would recommend for teenagers. There could be improvement in camera pixel size. More color options for phone body are recommended.

I bought this phone after having the first generation Atrix. Needless to say, it has surpassed any phone I have ever had. It also syncs with my Note 8, which is pretty cool too. Overall, I am impressed so far!

I love my new phone. I had and HTC inspire 4G and this phone blows it out of the water in every aspect.

My previous phone was a razr, and this phone is fantastic. I've only had it activated for 1 week, and still getting used to it, but it is great. I got if or free during black friday special.

This phone replaced my sons Iphone and he loves it.

Got the S4 Active and instantly fell in love. The phone is heavier than the S4 but I think it feels better, sturdier. It has an 8mp camera witch is lower than the S4, but unless you are using the phone to make huge portraits, it won't matter. The phone is fast and very responsive. The added bonus is the ability to resist water. I go through phones and get bored with them quickly. The Active is equal with the S4 with the peace of mind knowing that if you get shoved in a pool or stuck in the rain, your phone will still work. My old iPhone 4S would last a day and need to be recharged. I have used the Active nearly constantly since I got it and it whats lasted for nearly two days. I work in the gaming industry and I'm a heavy user of the phone. After 16 straight hours it still had plenty battery left. Normal S4 cases will not fit this phone. Needs options for cases.
