    Excellent phone upgrade

Got the S8 to replace my 2+ year old S6 just as the S9 was coming out. I debated whether getting the already year old S8 was the way to go with the S9 just out, but I couldnt justify the huge payments on the S9 for a slightly better chip and a better camera, which I dont care much about. BestBuy had a great deal on the S8, and as I was still leasing my S6 through Sprint, I found myself paying more to lease the S6 than to purchase the S8. So it was a no-brainer. The phone itself is a huge upgrade, with a much better screen, slightly larger, with a lot more customization options and way faster. The lack of a true home button is annoying, but I've gotten used to it. The huge Bixby button on the left hand side of the phone (below the volume buttons) was also annoying as I was constantly hitting it accidentally. But that was solved when I shut off the annoying Samsung Bixby entirely. One other issue is the Calling Plus feature, which supposedly allows you to talk and surf (cellularly) at the same time (a la what you have been able to do on Verizon for years now). Unfortunately I found that if I turned that on making phone calls became pointless as after about 30-60 seconds or so either I couldnt hear the other party, or they couldnt hear me. Turning it off resolved the problem but failed to resolve the issue of why you still cant talk and surf on Sprint despite them promising it for years now. I suppose that wouldnt have been an issue if I was on Verizon, but I'm not. The phone otherwise is highly recommended and for the price a better option than the S9.

It's only been a week, but it's been fun getting to know my new phone. Coming from a S4 that was over 4-years-old but still running great, there wasn't much adjustment. Everything is just a little shinier, a little faster, a little newer. The screen looks so much smaller when you first pick it up, but as soon as it comes on...oh, man, beautiful and shiny. Liking the camera, but I don't necessarily understand the need for the Snapchat-like stickers. They are entertaining for the first 30 minutes, though. Pro mode is fun to mess around with if you understand that kind of stuff, but Auto mode is very easy to work with. I do worry about protecting this baby. I've got an OtterBox case on her right now, but they haven't figured out the built in screen protectors yet, so I've got an Amazon find on order for some of the more rough and tumble activities I find myself in. My friend's week old S8 has already found a pointy surface that cracked the corner of the gorgeous, curved screen, through a seperate, stick on screen protector. Besides that, I've been impressed so far, but let's see if I can make this one last 4 years, too.

The Galaxy s8 has a lot of upgraded features from the s5 that I held for 3 years. I haven't explored everything yet but there is so much that this phone has to offer along with the speed of the apps and the internal memory features. I would recommend going on youtube as there are many videos that explain a lot of the upgraded features and how to set them up and access them. The camera takes very high quality pictures. For protection, the phone also offers fingerprint and face recognition features. The size of the phone is bigger than the s5 but not as wide as the s5 so it took a little getting used to. I also carry an iphone for work so it is nice to have both an android and an iphone because the android does some things better than the iphone. The android also works great with the google apps.

Things I love about the s8: Beautiful large screen that doesn't require a large phone. Samsung Pay is the biggest seller for me. It's the only payment system that works on both NFC registers and regular magnetic strip card readers. Retinal scan is cool but not that fast. Overall the phone is quite zippy. The Edge feature is more novelty than useful. Compared to the s7: I think the s7 was probably the perfect phone. The screen is quite a bit bigger than the s7. Also, the camera is an upgrade. The biggest downfall of the s8 is moving the fingerprint scanner in the back. It's awkward to use. I do miss the button on the front.

I got this to replace my well-used Galaxy S7. I'd had that phone for almost two years (I chose to upgrade early by three months due to a technical issue with the old phone). So far, compared to my wife's much less used S7 they're very similar, although I think mine's just a touch faster. I tried using the edge screen and quickly disabled it. The curved screen edge is more gimmick than useful IMHO, but maybe you will find it more to your liking than I did. The upgrade process was pretty painless thanks to them both being Samsungs, although my battery was pretty close to dead when I got it home after they transferred it for me at the local BB. I've not noticed any major differences with pictures although I understand the camera in the S8 is supposed to be better than the one in the S7. I did look at some of the other Android options out there, but since the Pixel is only with Verizon (and doesn't support Qi charging?!?!?!) I opted to just keep on keeping on. I have noticed the battery holds its charge much longer, but I suspect that would be true for any new phone compared to one that's almost two years old. So far, this phone has been rock solid and I've not dropped any calls (the reason why I upgraded early). Given the need and similar options, I'd get another one of these again.

I have had Samsung for a few generations now, and just switched to Sprint after being with AT&T for over 10 years. Really like this phone, no delays in going from apps, pictures, and videos are sharp. Took me 10 days to figure out how to pair it to my smart watch, a 1st gen moto 360, but it works great now. The curved glass has taken me awhile to get use to, but all in all, I'm glad I stuck with Samsung, this phone is a beast. Can charge in just a little over an hour, lasts all day. I'm really enjoying listening to Pandora in my truck on my drive to work everyday, thanks to this new phone and unlimited data from Sprint. All my medical apps work great too at work.

I traded in my Samsung S III for this lovely blue S 8 and know i traded up. There's much better control over many functions from the lighted screen to the fantastic 12mp camera. Apps work much faster (thank goodness). My friend no longer complains when i talk to her on my mobile.

I've always been a fan of Samsung since the galaxy S2. So year, after year I kept up with what they were releasing and until now none of those devices (except the note 4) caught my attention. Then they unveiled this beauty. It has everything you could want in a smart phone besides a removable battery! A gorgeous screen and in such a small form factor! Opens apps and does all tasks quickly. Has an SD card with 64 internal storage. Samsung pay probably is my fav feature now; no longer have to leave my card hanging out of the terminals. Over all this phone is everything I could hope for and more.

I've had a mint condition GS6 for nearly 3 years and I've had no issues with it. It was time for a replacement. I didn't want an oversized phone so I went with the GS8. Great speed, picture quality and the display is awesome!

Went from Galaxy S6 to S8. Major improvement w the camera, screen, speed, & battery. Very impressed. Only drawback is the change in battery charger. It's a pain & pricey to change all my chargers to new type.

I was a little hesitant in going back to a monthly payment for a phone - however my older S5 was beginning to slow and have other operating errors - and with my need for business I needed a new phone. REally like the new S8 - a few of new modifications take some time to learn - since no real Operating Guide - Google has become my new best friend in answering questions on "how to's" for this phone. sleek design and full screen are really nice. very fast operations.

Having gotten my first Samsung phone in many years in 2016 with the S7 edge, I was skeptical of the S8 and some of the original fuss. After a few months I decided to take the plunge with a good offer. This phone is fantastic. It's fast, responsive and so far has done everything I've asked. The camera is great, the waterproofing is a welcome safety measure and the expandable storage make this a great performer. So far I am very happy with the purchase.
