Excellent phone upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the S8 to replace my 2+ year old S6 just as the S9 was coming out. I debated whether getting the already year old S8 was the way to go with the S9 just out, but I couldnt justify the huge payments on the S9 for a slightly better chip and a better camera, which I dont care much about. BestBuy had a great deal on the S8, and as I was still leasing my S6 through Sprint, I found myself paying more to lease the S6 than to purchase the S8. So it was a no-brainer. The phone itself is a huge upgrade, with a much better screen, slightly larger, with a lot more customization options and way faster. The lack of a true home button is annoying, but I've gotten used to it. The huge Bixby button on the left hand side of the phone (below the volume buttons) was also annoying as I was constantly hitting it accidentally. But that was solved when I shut off the annoying Samsung Bixby entirely. One other issue is the Calling Plus feature, which supposedly allows you to talk and surf (cellularly) at the same time (a la what you have been able to do on Verizon for years now). Unfortunately I found that if I turned that on making phone calls became pointless as after about 30-60 seconds or so either I couldnt hear the other party, or they couldnt hear me. Turning it off resolved the problem but failed to resolve the issue of why you still cant talk and surf on Sprint despite them promising it for years now. I suppose that wouldnt have been an issue if I was on Verizon, but I'm not. The phone otherwise is highly recommended and for the price a better option than the S9.

Always buy the new
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a true fan of my Samsung Galaxy brand. I am one of those who ensures I can pick up the new cell phone on day of release. I will continue to be a fan. I love the sleek design, the beautiful screen and the fast processing of the device.

Samsung has another new customer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son was due for an upgrade and decided he no longer wanted an iPhone and made the jump to an android phone. I replaced my iPhone with a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge a few months ago and my son really like the features and decided to go with the Galaxy S8. The new larger "borderless" screen and sleek design are impressive. The transition from an iPhone to the Galaxy was simple for my 14 year old and he has had no complaints at all. Battery life and picture / video quality are far superior to that of his iPhone 6.

Small and light
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I switched over from my Galaxy S6 to a Galaxy S8. I like that I have twice as much storage in the 64 gig. And I like that you can even upgrade this. I like that it is lighter than my S6 and actually has more viewing space. I'm still getting used to it and trying to figure it out. Tomorrow I am scheduled to take a 1/2 hour class over at my nearby Best Buy when how to best use the phone. I haven't really noticed any difference in the camera clarity. And the volume doesn't seem as loud as my S6. I will ask about this at the class tomorrow. I usually keep my phone for 3 years, but I started having some glitches with my S6, and had to keep deleting stuff because I kept running out of storage space. But I decided to switch now because they had a deal I couldn't refuse. I have the orchid Gray and it's quite pretty.

Fantastic Phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start out by saying that I've had every previous model I am very happy with my GS8. It's an excellent phone that is responsive, has a battery that easily lasts a day, and plenty of (mostly) useful features. Not to mention the minimal bezels and brilliant screen.

Best Da# Phone ever!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are very few devices that I would say I love and I love this device. Screen is perfect for everything and I am an Engineer. No issues. Just buy a good screen protector and case (low profile) and you are set for life. I used this phone all Day!!!! Music, Phone calls. Games and at the end of the day it still ready for anything. If you had to bring one device with you this would be the device (with a fast charger)...

Amazing phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Things I love about the s8: Beautiful large screen that doesn't require a large phone. Samsung Pay is the biggest seller for me. It's the only payment system that works on both NFC registers and regular magnetic strip card readers. Retinal scan is cool but not that fast. Overall the phone is quite zippy. The Edge feature is more novelty than useful. Compared to the s7: I think the s7 was probably the perfect phone. The screen is quite a bit bigger than the s7. Also, the camera is an upgrade. The biggest downfall of the s8 is moving the fingerprint scanner in the back. It's awkward to use. I do miss the button on the front.

Fantastic Phone, held back by bloat-ware.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start out by saying that I am very happy with my GS8. It's an excellent phone that is responsive, has a battery that easily lasts a day, and plenty of (mostly) useful features. Not to mention the minimal bezels and brilliant screen. I'm not going to go on and repeat all the good things pretty much every online review says about phone. My issue with the phone is Samsung's notorious and pervasive bloat-ware. Some of it adds rather useful functionality, a fair bit of it is annoyingly redundant and actually takes away functionality in my opinion. An excellent example of this is that a url sent in a text will launch that page inside of the messages app. You are not able to launch the web page in a non-Samsung web browser. Sure, you could copy the url or utilize one of the options the app gives for you but I'm not a fan of being forced into using one app or being required to go through extra steps to use other apps that are available to me. It is one of the primary reasons I use Android phones. I hate that Samsung is emulating Apple in the their own, and largely redundant, apps. I know that boot loaders and various other apps exist that feature "workarounds" for much of the more annoying features (such as the Bixby butto, that even activates when the screen is off) but the button-mappers that I have tried work on either a delay or close the app that was launched and then launches the a different app. For me, the annoying bloat is (barely) better than the delayed response. Having said that, there are proprietary features I am largely a fan of such as the screen stay (keeps screen on while you're looking at it), the various ways to wake up and to unlock the phone, and the edge app and its various panels. I've only had the phone a little over a week now and I am still getting used to the minutia of how it works. So far, the good easily trumps the bad.

Best hone so far for 2017
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always been a fan of Samsung since the galaxy S2. So year, after year I kept up with what they were releasing and until now none of those devices (except the note 4) caught my attention. Then they unveiled this beauty. It has everything you could want in a smart phone besides a removable battery! A gorgeous screen and in such a small form factor! Opens apps and does all tasks quickly. Has an SD card with 64 internal storage. Samsung pay probably is my fav feature now; no longer have to leave my card hanging out of the terminals. Over all this phone is everything I could hope for and more.

Impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went from Galaxy S6 to S8. Major improvement w the camera, screen, speed, & battery. Very impressed. Only drawback is the change in battery charger. It's a pain & pricey to change all my chargers to new type.

ease of use for new Galaxy S8
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little hesitant in going back to a monthly payment for a phone - however my older S5 was beginning to slow and have other operating errors - and with my need for business I needed a new phone. REally like the new S8 - a few of new modifications take some time to learn - since no real Operating Guide - Google has become my new best friend in answering questions on "how to's" for this phone. sleek design and full screen are really nice. very fast operations.
