S9+: Everything+The Kitchen Sink+The Dishwasher

The S9+ is erroneously getting a lot of tainted reviews from sites like Cnet, Youtube channels and such. They all start with the same biased themes of backhanded compliments and then fall into a slanted criticism of singular features and iPhone comparisons. What does not occur to these people is that The S9+ alone, one incredible device, is being compared, one feature at a time, with almost 6 or 10 other devices which mean that it has a full list of excellent features. Maybe not heavenly perfect features but still killing and resurrecting it.
Software and hardware-wise, it is a smartphone chimera - design, beauty, photography, video, excellent screen, tweaks and features, excellently good battery life, Samsung Pay (currently the most versatile and compatible mobile payment system around which can be securely authenticated by Iris Scan/Fingerprint, i confirmed this, and which should be mentioned more by reviewers). Heck...there are even dark themes on Samsung Themes store that turn your entire smartphone interface black. A great battery life saver yet not a standard feature on android or iOS.
Samsung has implemented so many things that are now being used as standard on Android and iOS but all they get is a bad rap for all that effort.
The S9+ is an excellent mobile device and i believe that people should make their own minds up about buying what they want to use. I made the decision to buy it Unlocked at Best Buy and I got mine on the 16th. Wifi-calling works with unlocked S9+ on tmobile sim, Samsung Pay can be securely authenticated with iris scan or fingerprint (reviewers keep saying it can't. Sigh!!!), camera is lovely, Barry Allen would be proud of the swift interface and the audio/stereo is above good.
I will write a fuller review after a while but for now, i'm keeping it.
(Hint: Dark Themes. long press on the home screen and select Themes. Using the search symbol on the top right hand corner, type in black or dark. Click search. Preview the options given and select your choice(s) to download and apply. You can also have your choice of icons and wallpapers to use. Samsung/Android gives options for Choices).

A millennial's perspective on the S9+

Quickly about me...I'm a 23yo female, recent college grad, who fully embodies her millennial status. I consider myself the definition of an average phone user. My top 3 apps are Instagram, Facebook and Spotify. My top stock app is Messaging. I don't do much else on this phone, I don't even watch video or movies because I prefer my Macbook Air or my TV for that. I made the switch from a Galaxy S6 to the Galaxy S9+ April 2018, 3 days before I left for a trip to Paris and London. The drastic difference between the S6 and S9+ spoke for itself in every way. I wanted this phone mainly for the rear camera so I could take amazing photos and it did not disappoint. See images below. The front facing camera is also great, maybe even too great as I don't want to see every pore, or anyone else to see every pore that I have. Fast forward to now and I'm still in love with this phone. Battery life is still great in my opinion, I always keep the phone in battery saver mode and the phone will last me the entire day, I only charge it overnight. Of course, this phone has a headphone jack which is an important feature to me since I have a tendency to misplace small accessories so any wireless headbuds are out of the question for me. The phone recently updated to Android 9.0 (Pie) and now there's even more stuff to play with on this phone. I now have Live Focus which I think is analogous to iPhone's portrait mode so I'm excited about that. All in all, I think this is a great phone, and if you can't afford the new S10 or S10+ then I think the S9+ will be a great choice.

Great alternative to the S10

I was considering getting the S10 but the price was too hefty, so I decided to go with this. It was worth the purchase (I was actually waiting for the OnePlus 7 Pro but I broke my phone before it released so I got the S9+ instead).
Pros:
-Great display.
-Good battery life. My usage is not too heavy nor too little and the battery usually lasts for 2 days if used properly. Although when not in use (like sitting in my pocket) it still drains so that's my only complaint.
-Great camera. There are also lots of options to take photos/videos (Pano, Pro, Slow Mo, Super Slow Mo, etc).
-***STILL HAS A HEADPHONE JACK*** One of the biggest reasons why I didn't trade it in for the OnePlus 7 Pro I was waiting for was because the S9+ has a headphone jack and the 7 Pro does not.
-Super fast charging.
Cons:
-Lots of pre-installed apps that I didn't need and couldn't uninstall which is annoying to me.
-For some reason when opening the YouTube or Netflix app the brightness changes (becomes brighter) and I have to manually set it back. After leaving the app the brightness changes again (becomes dimmer) and I have to manually adjust it back. It's just annoying.
-Bixby -- Don't get me wrong, I actually like and use Bixby, it's just that sometimes it fails to understand what I say. Wish the Bixby button is remappable.
-The fingerprint sensor is funky sometimes. Had to reset it for my left index finger. Sometimes it still won't work properly.
-For some reason, dust always sticks to the screen and it's really annoying. I have to blow them off, and sometimes they don't even come off and I have to get them off with my fingers which is a hassle. They usually stick to the screen when I put it in my pocket (though not all my pants). It could be because I'm not using a screen protector; maybe that wouldn't happen if you put one. My previous phone didn't have a screen protector and dust never sticks to the screen so this annoys me a lot.
Overall it's a great phone. If you wanted the S10 but couldn't afford it, this is a great alternative. You are not losing much. Even my friend who had both S9+ and S10+ said that I'm not losing much.

This is an excellent smartphone. A great camera, very fast snappy performance, good battery life - it pretty much does it all (although of course now there are new 2019 features it does not cover). With the price drop, this is now a steal and I would absolutely consider buying it as a great midrange purchase in 2019. The only people who should shy away are those who have problems with some of the Samsung old standards, like Bixby and the Samsung android skin.

Great upgrade from the S8

I've been a Samsung loyalist since my SIII, and I've gone with both Notes and the regular Galaxy versions. I no longer miss the size of my Note 5, and while I debated for a long time about upgrading to the S9+ from my S8, I'm glad I did. The camera is fantastic, and I love the controls on it. Comparing photos from my S8 and S9+ show a huge difference, and I loved the photos my S8 gave. This isn't a revolutionary change from the S8 in many respects, but it's definitely a faster phone than the S8, and I like the size of it. It isn't too much bigger than the S8 was, but it's definitely a larger and crystal clear screen. The change in location of the fingerprint sensor is a smart decision, and it works much better. I was slightly worried about the battery, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the length of time the battery lasts and how quickly the phone charges. It doesn't crash, it has plenty of memory, it's fast, it has fantastic photos - what more can you ask?

Samsung continues to offer a great quality phone with excellent features. The camera takes clear and vivid photos. With the S9+ you get the dual lens camera to take clearer shots when you're zoomed in. Plus, can't go wrong with 64gb of storage (expandable to 1tb...we'll get there one day). Performance-wise, it's quick and snappy. Using the fast charge technology, the phone charges in about an hour and during normal use, doesn't drop below 80% battery life throughout the day.

Best phone I've owned in a while

I upgraded from a Galaxy S7, and I like this phone a lot better. I had gotten a bit tired of Samsung phones (and I'm not as excited about smartphones as I once was), but I decided to give this one a try.
Best thing about it: for the first time in years I don't have to worry about my phone dying before I can charge it. With regular use it easily lasts all day (even if I can't charge it until late) and, if need be, I can get a second day with light use and some power-saving features enabled.
It's very snappy and hasn't crashed or frozen up on me yet. And I don't miss the bezel at all. Even though it's about the same size as my S7, because of the larger screen it feels so much bigger. I'm still not quite sure the advantage of the curved screen, but boy is it neat. The display quality is excellent, as usual for Samsung phones.
Finally, the camera is fantastic. Best smartphone camera I've had by a mile. I'm consistently amazed at how well it takes pictures in low light (they look brighter than real life). The slow-motion camera is quite nice as well, though I haven't had much occasion to use it.
Now, the cons. Because of the screen curves outwards, it's much more likely to contact the ground if dropped than flat-screen phones. A good case is a must, and I would recommend a good screen protector as well. It's annoying that all of my old micro USB chargers don't work with its USB-C port, but I suppose the USB-C itself is much better than micro USB. It's also *expensive.* I like to keep phones for a while (the two years I had my S7 was a little shorter than usual for me), so I didn't mind as much. But, if you like to replace your phone periodically I'd look elsewhere. Between the phone, the case, the screen protector, and buying extra USB-C charger cords if needed, it can very pricey.
Overall, though, great phone. Would recommend.

Was ready to upgrade from my iPhone 6s Plus and decided to go back to Android based primarily on the price difference. Super happy with my decision so far. Apps run fast without a hitch. Screen is terrific - love watching movies and videos on it. Unbelievable camera and grateful to have the ability to expand the storage by adding a 128gb micro sd. No regrets at all.

This was a steal for a not-so-old flagship phone. Lightning fast compared to my aging S7 Edge.
No bloatware from Verizon or other carriers.
Batterly life is excellent, I do fair amount of browsing, talk/text, and audio streaming and this easily lasts 2 days.
Screen and sound quality are good.
Camera is great, but I don't take a lot of pictures so maybe S10 would be better for camera features.

I have always had Samsung Galaxy phones and never had issues. My Galaxy 8+ cracked and I tried other non-Samsung phones -- nothing really compared to the speed and response of Galaxy phones. The Galaxy 9+ is without exception; great memory, camera takes fantastic pictures and battery life is long-lasting..I probably charge it once a day. I am happy with my Galaxy 9+ and no issues when activating phone with Verizon.

This is the best Galaxy S phone to date. The performance is spectacular. The camera on the S9+ is one of the best on the market. This phone is feature packed. The security options on this unit is very good. Battery life is very good, you will be able to get through a day without having to recharge again. Bixby assistance, slow motion etc. everything great. This phone is awesome! Super quick operating speeds. Love the crystal clear pictures and colors. The camera and all of it's options are amazing and getting the unlocked version without all of the carrier programs is really amazing. I have bought one, my husband bought one and we tell our friends to buy one! You will love this phone.

This is definitely a great android phone. Camera is just awesome
but for $900 phone, i wanted it to be a perfect phone
we all know its display is amazon, and its super fast. I would like to mention things which I didn't like:
1. side button for bixey program, we should be able to change it to google assistant
2. hard to put on screen protector, i tried 3-4 and some doesn't work well and some doesn't work on edge section
3. i wish it had slider button on side like Oneplus to easily switch phone to silent

Updated from a galaxy S5. Battery life is fantastic. Camera is much better. Plenty of storage. I was hoping it would be closer to the OS look and feel of the S5. I'm used to doing everything through Google tools so, I'm not sure what the point is of Bixby except Samsung wanting some of the clicks Google was getting. I don't like the bixby button. If it can be reprogrammed to do something else, I'd like it better. It's much faster than my old phone. Steep learning curve, to get used to the new OS.

Couldn't ask for a better phone, well I could but the Note 9 didn't have enough changes to pay the extra money. This phone has everything I need, the speakers and camera are a huge improvement from the s8+ that I upgraded from. Was skeptical about getting an unlocked version bc in the past they used to not have all the bands so signal and such were a let down. Now being years later the unlocked version hasn't shown any issues with signal issues or date speeds. A plus with unlocked version there's not all the pre installed bloatware carrier brands load theirs with, so more storage and longer battery life. That is another plus, I don't know if it's bc of not having all the bloatware or what but battery last me all day sometime 19 hours without even needing charged, my s8+ got nowhere near that battery life, and I'm pretty sure they both have same battery size.

I am happy with my S9 plus. There is so much to do on my phone. If you have no clue all you can do check it out on youtube. You can have dual bluetooth headphones in. if you have two different speakers (bluetooth) you can hook both up and play one in your room or living room. check out places from your contacts, change your navigation bar color, change your color color and style and download more from the phone. the list go on. there is over 40 things you can do that no other android or iPhone can do. you can get great video clear sharing again check youtube for it. I've tested all this out i know it work. The purple lilac color is beautiful. The smooth lean phone is easy to use. the speakers are loud enough. This phone is worth it it take beautiful pictures. Best part, Best Buy employee who helped me was kind and had no problem making sure I had the right case I liked for my phone.
