Takes time to setup, but it's a great smart watch

The Galaxy Watch 7 is a nice watch with loads of features.
First, the hardware. The Galaxy Watch 7 has a metallic body, with a round glass face, and a rubbery strap. The strap has orange and baby blue threads wrapped around a set of cutouts on each strap in an asymmetrical fashion (I’m personally not a fan of this and wish they hadn’t done it). The strap itself is a curious shade of green that’s right on the edge of being a dark grey.
The back of the watch has a sensor array for tracking things like your heart rate, and the buttons along the right-hand side of the watch face (outlined in orange and white - again, not my first choice for colors) also contain sensors for body composition scanning.
Battery life isn’t impressive. I get about a day and a half per charge. I’m not using this to track my sleep (having things on my wrist actually keeps me from getting to sleep), so I’m just charging it overnight each night.
Setting up the watch was a bit of a challenge for me.
The setup prompts you to install not just one, but several apps. I’m not even certain if all of them were necessary. The “Smart Switch” app prompted me to connect two phones together to transfer data and apps. I think it was referring to my watch, but I opted to just skip past this step completely. Skipping it doesn’t appear to have negatively impacted my experience at all. One of the apps that was referenced appeared to only be for Samsung phones. Again, skipping this one didn’t negatively impact my experience at all.
By default, I wasn’t receiving any notifications on my Pixel phone. I found that I was able to go into the watch and app settings and manually turn on notifications for all of the apps that I care about. Notifications on this watch are handled very subtly. When you get a notification, you get a short little vibration (adjustable in the settings) followed by an orange dot on the left side of the screen. You can then flick left to view your notifications. I’m not sure if I prefer this to the “in your face” auto-displayed notifications or not.
The watch face can be customized within the app, and there are a variety of options to choose from (including making your own).
The watch comes with a fair amount of bloatware. I’m still figuring out what can be removed and what I need to keep. I installed Google Fit for monitoring my fitness as it was compatible, and I already have an account setup and am familiar with the interface.
My preferred music streaming service seemingly isn’t compatible with this watch yet.
At the time of this review, a lot of the third party watch face apps that I found weren’t compatible with this watch yet either.
The body composition scanning isn’t great. I found that 4 out of 5 times, it gets to exactly 67% complete and then fails. When it does work, the results are radically different from my body composition scale (I WISH the watch’s body fat percentage was correct - I’d look absolutely shredded).
Steps appear to be fairly accurate, and I haven’t noticed any anomalies with the heart rate monitoring.
The auto-workout detection is great. Within a few minutes of light jogging on the treadmill, the watch prompts that I’m exercising and starts monitoring. It tries to retroactively record when I started, but I found that it was a little overly generous (giving me an additional five minutes of exercise - probably the time I spent walking across the gym and getting onto the treadmill).
The assistant function seems to work well. I swapped the assistant from the default Bixby to Google without any issues. I have it setup to trigger with a long press of the top button, and it seems to work well and understand me clearly. By default, the volume was very VERY low, but I turned it up to a reasonable volume in settings.
I also like the fact that I’m able to pair my calendar with this watch to keep track of appointments and tasks.
In summary, this is a very nice and feature-rich smart watch. The initial setup is a little overly complicated. But once setup, this is a great watch for fitness tracking and day to day productivity.

As someone deeply embedded in a different tech ecosystem, I've consistently relied on my other smartwatch for daily activities, never quite mixing it with my professional life. However, the allure of the Galaxy Watch7 in deep green and its classy round shape has made me reconsider. Unlike the typical tech-savvy look of 'other' smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch7 exudes a more traditional, professional vibe, making it a perfect accessory for work.
I use an Android phone daily for work, and integrating the Galaxy Watch7 into my routine seemed like a logical step. Although my phone is not a Galaxy model, which led to a somewhat fragmented setup process involving multiple app installations and permission pop-ups, the effort was worthwhile. This hiccup in the setup process could likely be smoothed out for Galaxy phone users, with likely a more seamless integration within the Samsung ecosystem.
The interface of the Galaxy Watch7 was surprisingly familiar, echoing many features of my 'other' smartwatch. This similarity was a double-edged sword; while it made the transition less daunting, it also left me longing for more originality, especially in the watch faces. I found myself instinctively reaching for a non-existent crown to navigate messages, a testament to my muscle memory from the 'other' device. However, Samsung’s use of all four swiping directions is a key difference that I appreciated quickly.
The physical aspects of the watch, like changing bands, presented a slight learning curve. The traditional mechanical pin used to secure the bands might raise durability concerns for more rugged activities—definitely a departure from the integrated slide-in channels I'm accustomed to. Yet, I suppose it mirrors the classic watch design that has stood the test of time.
During work hours, the watch proved its mettle by allowing me to efficiently multitask, handling texts and notifications with ease. The fitness features were a bonus, particularly during my afternoon workouts. The heart rate monitor matched the accuracy of both my 'other' watch and gym machines, although getting used to the controls, like swiping to end a workout, did take some getting used to.
Overall, the Galaxy Watch7 has earned its place on my wrist during work hours, striking a fine balance between professional aesthetics and smart functionality. It’s a nice companion for anyone looking to blend traditional watch style with modern smartwatch capabilities, even if it does come with a slight learning curve for those outside the Samsung family.

I've been intrigued for a little while to see what it would be like to have a smartwatch. Moreover, I've been also intrigued with the samsung smart watches. So when I saw this new samsung galaxy watch 7 being released; I knew I had to have it!
Being that this is my first smart watch; I thought I would be lost trying to figure out how to get my samsung galaxy watch 7 connected to my google pixel 8 phone. Getting my watch and phone connected through bluetooth was not stressful at all; it was a breeze. It was great to see that my samsung galaxy watch 7 is not limited to be compatible with only samsung phones/products. I was happy to see that the features on my watch are compatible with my google pixel 8 phone.
The only feature on the samsung galaxy watch 7 that seems to be limited to only be used with a samsung phone is the health monitor feature. Which is one of the cons I have found for the watch. The other con I have found is when I try to play music from my youtube music and I make sure to be connected to the wi-fi, I download the songs/playlists and yet it will tell me on the audio output; I need to pair a new device. That is something I've been working on trying to figure it out and I will still work on it. I have only found those two cons; which are very minor. The pros outweigh the cons with my new samsung galaxy watch 7!
I really like how it monitors my sleep and yes, I do sleep with my watch. I like to see what it tracks it regards to my sleep. This watch is very intuitive which is what I love about it; it's very easy to navigate through with responsive touch and gesture controls. Another good feature is that it has accurate heart rate measurements along with AI health insights.
Although, I have bought some cute cases to protect my samsung galaxy watch 7; I like that it's dust proof as well as 5ATM water resistant. I don't have to worry when I am caught in the rain while out and about. Moreover, when I am working out and I'm super sweaty while wearing my watch. I like that If I want to send a text or call someone; I am able to do that on my samsung galaxy watch 7 and not have to do so on my phone if I choose to!
Overall, I am super satisfied with my smartwatch! It has exceeded all of my expectations and more. This samsung galaxy watch 7 although, it's my first smartwatch it will not be my only samsung product; it made me want to upgrade my phone to a samsung phone!

The first thing that stood out to me with this Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is its aesthetics. The 40mm face size strikes the perfect balance between readability and usability without looking overly large, unlike some more utility-looking sport watches from other brands. The thin bezel helps maintain a premium look. I’m particularly impressed with how sharp the aluminum body looks and how robust and durable it feels. The watch manages to be both sleek and sporty. The AMOLED display is gorgeous and helps the watch stand out among the other watches I've used before—the screen is very bright, the colors are vivid, and the high resolution really helps with readability.
The watch boasts up to 40 hours on a single charge, although I wasn't able to achieve that duration. As a heavy user of the watch's interface and apps, I find myself charging it nightly. Since I don't typically wear a watch overnight for Sleep Tracking, nightly charging isn't an issue for me. However, if you plan to use it around the clock, you might need to give it a quick charge midday. Fortunately, the induction charger refills the battery rapidly.
This watch is packed with features, and while there is a bit of a learning curve, the interface is overall intuitive, and setting it up to your liking is fairly straightforward. Texting is straightforward—the keyboard is fairly small, but the touchscreen accuracy and responsiveness make it easy to use. However, if you’d like to avoid typing on the small keyboard, the AI-generated Suggested Replies are well done and often get the job done with just one tap.
The seamless setup from my phone was a big plus—the watch automatically downloaded apps that matched what I had on my phone. With a plethora of apps available on the watch, it truly feels like an extension of my Android phone without any extra effort on my part. Customization directly from the watch interface is super simple, but you can tweak things even further with the Wearables App. It’s easy to customize the watch face, manage notifications, add apps and tiles, adjust quick panel settings, and more. Though it may seem like a small thing, I really appreciated the thoughtful addition of being able to flip the screen orientation and button layout (left or right) directly from the settings menu.
The watch is not just great for day-to-day utility: the sports functionality is really solid as well. Being able to download Spotify playlists for offline listening during exercise is a game changer so I don't have to carry my phone with me when I got distance running. The generous 32GB capacity is plenty big to hold many apps and songs/podcasts. I connected my Bluetooth headphones to the watch and was able to listen to music while tracking my run via the Samsung Health App. The GPS connected almost instantaneously, and its accuracy was on par with my existing GPS-enabled sports watch. Pace and distance readings were very similar between the two. The summary page of the app is fantastic, displaying typical stats like daily steps, heart rate, sleep duration, etc. All this data syncs to the Samsung Health App on my phone, where it’s great to see the advanced metrics the watch captures—like time spent in different heart rate zones and specific Advanced Running Metrics such as Contact Time, Flight Time, and Vertical, with suggestions for drills and workouts to improve the subpar aspects of my running style. As a data nerd and avid runner, I absolutely love having these metrics plotted out and analyzed for my runs, and I’ll definitely be diving deeper into this data to level up my running game.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 40mm (WiFi only) is the perfect companion to any Android cell phone as long as it has Google Mobile Services. (GMS)
Included in the box is a quick start guide and a Samsung quick charger. Set-up was very simple via bluetooth, then follow the prompts on your cell phone. Then you may answer calls, send and receive texts, and see notifications while connected to WiFi.
It has many useful and very user-friendly features, such as keeping track of steps, running, biking, and many more activities that can be added.
Learning the swipes was very simple. Swiping down from the top takes you to a quick access menu, swiping left from the left side or right from the right side gives you notifications and widgets which you can customize and add more if so desired. Swiping up gives all your other applications, such as your settings, messenger, bookmarks, timer, etc. A simple press of the home button will return you back to home.
The Watch 7 works well with the Samsung Health application, and has quite a few fitness recording apps. It has features such as taking your own ECG, recording your body composition, tracking your stress levels, and keeping up with how well you sleep at night. There are several other record-keeping applications within Samsung Health as well such as keeping up with your water intake, calorie counting, stress levels, blood oxygen, cycle tracking, etc. The process of recording the ECG was simple. You must first ensure the watch is snugly on whichever wrist you have it on. Then, you will place a finger on the home button. For 30 seconds, it will record your ECG!
Recording your body composition was similar, however, rather than making sure your watch is on snug, you’ll move it up your arm. I had issues with this as the factory band was too small for my mid-arm. After that, you’ll place an elbow on a hard surface such as a table, and then touch the two side buttons. A percentage will appear on the watch – if you can, try to stay as still as possible during this. The body composition results include your BMI, body water level, fat mass, and skeleton muscle, along with measuring your inputted weight and comparing it against what should be a healthy weight for your size. Highly recommended.

Setup was very easy on this watch. Download the Wear app and it pairs instantly. I also have The Galaxy Watch6 and pairing that watch had a few issues so this one was a breeze.
Allow at least an hour for setup and customization. You can select from different watch faces or download additional options. The screen is bright, bold and big. Typing is a little difficult when trying to respond to a text or email message using the keyboard. No rotating bezel on this model.
Some of the app options:
Fitness Tracking including specific types of exercises
Personalized heart rate zones and targeted intensity
Sleep coaching to track your sleep stages and snoring (including sleep apnea)
Heart rate monitoring
Health Monitor / EKG (Samsung phones)
Text
Make phone calls
Calendar
Take photos using the watch as a controller (Samsung phones)
Fall detection – will call your emergency contact
Samsung Wallet
Buds
Spotify
Calculator, Stopwatch, etc…
Battery Life is about 1 to 2 days, depending on if you wear it all day and night and what apps you use. Some apps drain the battery very fast and then you will have to recharge daily. Battery life has not improved from the Watch6. Storage is excellent with 32GB.
I use Outlook to store my contacts, calendar and emails. It syncs with my Google account via CompanionLink and it all connected seamlessly.
Location tracking accuracy (dual-frequency GPS) is excellent while exercising. And Fall Detection is greatly improved. My Galaxy Watch6 was constantly indicating a fall when I was just sitting or leaning against a wall. And when I really fell, the Watch6 didn’t catch it. No false alarms with the Watch7 yet.
Samsung Health is a great app and you can track weight, water consumption, types of activities, heart rate, stress, sleep, steps, blood oxygen, calories, etc… I keep discovering new ways to use it. It did very well with sleep tracking. I was sick while testing this and it caught a lot of the differences in my sleep pattern on those nights.
Call clarity was very good. And I didn’t have to hold the watch to my mouth secret agent style. The volume wasn’t quite as high as on the Watch6. You can even play music and the speaker isn’t awful. Amazon music playlists can be added in your phone to play on the watch.
You can swap out bands too – Samsung offers other bands that can be easily changed with One-Click. I am not very fond of the rubber type strap included as it remains moist if you get water under it during hand washing. FYI – it comes with a S/M band which was fine for my wrist. A complaint about bands – Samsung is often sold out of replacement bands. If you put yourself on the notification list, they will email you when supposedly available. I have clicked on the link within 1 minute and no band. Then I receive another notification and same thing. More color selection would be appreciated too. It's also compatible with 3rd party spring pin bands.
The enclosed watch charger is fast charging but only has a USB-C connector and no AC adapter. I used an AC adapter to connect to the charger and it still fast charged for me. A wall charger should be included. It is difficult to travel with just the included charger.
I didn’t test the 5ATM for water pressure so I don’t know how well it handles water.
I really am impressed with this smart watch. But it needs a better battery life and they should make all features available with all cell phones.

This Samsung Galaxy Watch7 40mm Bluetooth in Green is a pretty good choice for a smartwatch. It’s great for tracking your health, fitness, and wellness.
What you get in the box is:
* Samsung Galaxy Watch7 40mm
* Charging Cable (adapter not included)
* Guide
Setup is not hard at all, but it will take awhile if you set everything up and customize everything you are able to customize. To get the most out of the watch, you will want to use a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. You can use an Android smartphone and a lot of features will still work. This watch does require an Android based phone.
My favorite features:
Sleep tracking is something that I really like about this watch. There is a sleep apnea detector built in. You have to turn it on and set it up, but I used it. It is pretty accurate.
Heart rate tracking and ECG recording is a really nice feature. I like how I can do an ECG myself to check for abnormal heart rhythm. It takes your pulse, too.
Activity level and reminders are two things that use to bother me, but I depend on them now. I love how this watch has these where they will actually tell you to get to moving.
Customizing the watch face is actually fun. You can select so many different options and never run out of unique options.
Energy Score calculates your physical readiness based on yesterday’s heart data, physical activity and sleep data.
Music can be played from the watch to your headset.
Weather on your wrist. I like how I can see the weather at a glance.
You can control the camera from the watch
The other features are that it includes the Samsung Wallet, the apps that you use on your phone you can use on your watch, but in the watch version (most apps),
The downside of this watch is the battery life. I have to charge it daily.

Offers sleek design, fast performance, and impressive health tracking features like sleep apnea detection and AI-based Energy Score. It runs smoothly on Wear OS 5 and pairs best with Samsung phones.
However, the battery life is average—often just about 24 hours—and some users report bugs like Bluetooth-related battery drain. Charging is decent, but no more reverse wireless support.

I want to preface this review by saying that our family is an android family and most the products we have is made by Samsung. We do have a couple of other different OS phones but we really prefer the androids. We have 2 Samsung Galaxy 6 watches in the house and really happy with them so far. This made me more excited to see what the new Galaxy 7 watch could do. Out of the box, everything seems quite the same. I really like the color scheme of the watch and green band. In my opinion it is very sporty and can be worn in 90% of places I will be. But if it's not your thing, a quick search online will find a ton of options to change bands and most at a very reasonable price. And Samsung made changing bands out super easy as well, just a quick press of a button on the back of the strap, that's it. Charging is super easy as well with a magnetic dock. Keeps the charging dock attached to the phone so there is no guessing. 2 side operating buttons has a great tactile feel when pressing them. Screen is super responsive and your swipes are effortless. And that is where the 7 really outshines the 6. The new hardwire really is better than last years. When I put the 6 next to the 7, every operation is quicker and more responsive. The screen are very similar but, imo, the 7 outdoors seems a bit easier to see. Typing is really enjoyable. I'm still not clear how with my big fingers that I can hit the correct letter 95% of the time. I really think it has to do with the watch and the software. But most of the time, I use voice to text and that in itself is awesome. So far, it has not made one mistake and has been able to understand what I say, even I think I'm saying it fast. So far, I'm really happy with this watch and can't really see anything that is negative.

Samsung's latest offering, the Galaxy Watch 7 40mm Bluetooth version has made a bold statement. I think this year's Galaxy Watch will put them back in the conversations for top smart watches for 2024. The last couple of years the Galaxy Watch line was stagnant in my opinion. There wasn't a big difference between watches versions 4-6. At least i didn't notice any major changes. After living with the Galaxy Watch 7, I can say that this is the upgrade I needed.
Battery Life
I can't say enough how greatly improved the battery life is on the Galaxy Watch 7 compared to their previous models. My Galaxy Watch 4 never made it through 1 whole day. I can easily get a day and a half worth of battery life now with the Watch 7. I can even leave on always-on-display and get a full days worth of battery. This is a huge improvement. I did not setup Google Assistant however, as it did cause battery drain issues on my previous Samsung watches.
Features
Since I have a Samsung phone, I am able to take advantage of all the neat features of the Galaxy Watch 7. I do use the health info that Samsung provides me as a guide to my personal health. Having the ability to attain some of my personal goals I set for myself is awesome. Here are some of my favs:
1. Sleep Apnea feature
2. Energy Score
3. Dual-frequency GPS
4. More efficient processor
5. Workout Tracker
I'm super happy with the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. This latest version addresses a lot of the issues I had with the prior versions. If you are already in Samsung's ecosystem, this watch is a no-brainer. I would recommend giving this year's version a try. I don't think you will be disappointed with the enhancements Samsung included in the Galaxy Watch 7.

I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 (40mm, Bluetooth – Green) for a few weeks now, and overall, it’s been a solid upgrade from my previous smartwatch. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight and comfortable it feels on the wrist. The aluminum body looks premium but doesn’t feel bulky at all, which is great for all-day wear, including while sleeping.
The display is bright, sharp, and easy to read even outdoors. Navigating through menus is smooth, and the touch response feels quick and accurate. I mainly use it for notifications, fitness tracking, and basic health monitoring, and it handles all of that very well. Calls and message alerts come through clearly, and replying to messages directly from the watch is convenient when I don’t want to pick up my phone.
Fitness and health tracking have been reliable so far. Steps, heart rate, sleep tracking, and workouts all seem accurate based on my daily routine. I especially like the sleep insights—it gives useful breakdowns without being overwhelming. Workout detection works well for walking and general exercises, though I usually start workouts manually for accuracy.
Battery life is decent but not outstanding. With Bluetooth on, notifications enabled, and daily activity tracking, I usually get about a full day to a day and a half. Charging is fairly quick, so topping it up during a shower or while getting ready is usually enough.
The green color looks subtle and stylish—not too flashy—and pairs well with both casual and work outfits. The watch integrates seamlessly with my Samsung phone, and setup was straightforward.
Overall, the Galaxy Watch7 is a comfortable, well-designed smartwatch with reliable performance and useful health features. While the battery could be better, it does everything I need it to do on a daily basis and feels polished and dependable. I’d recommend it to anyone already in the Samsung ecosystem looking for a compact, modern smartwatch.

Good battery life, excellent Android phone integration. Highly recommended after-market bands for better comfort.
As a non- Samsung phone user (OnePlus Open), I am satisfied with this watch. Just keep charging randomly ( while working on your laptop, or when in the shower, etc). A little daily charging, maybe 20-30 min, can keep you going non-stop.

I am upgrading from a Samsung S2 watch. This 40mm is only slightly larger than my old one (39mm). I have the display set to 60%, bluetooth on, wifi on, location on. I do not wear it while sleeping. I find that it holds a charge for 2 days before needing to be charged. Much longer that my old S2. I have been playing with it for a couple weeks now and just love it!! I was even able to put my old watchband on this one and lose the ugly/cheap green thing.

This is my 3rd Galaxy watch. I have always preferred the smaller size as the bigger watches look like I'm wearing a phone on my wrist. I swapped bands to get a more traditional look, and many people comment on that as they often don't realize it's a smart watch. I would like to see more options for case finish. Brushed SS or brass/chrome plate or such for a more conservative look would be nice.

Connected easily to my Samsung phone. Works well and allows me to check messages and notifications without getting my phone out every time.
Need to charge it every night depending on what features that you use

Love this thing. Notifications are super improved infeel like, also came from a Watch3. But man crisp and light. Really do wish that we get some new battery tech soon to make these bad boys last a Solid 2 days instead of like 1.5 1.6 days.

I recently received the new Samsung Galaxy Watch7 with Bluetooth. I have purchased many different Samsung smartwatches over the years, and I am pleased with the good quality components used in the latest watch.
The Watch 7 works great with the Samsung health app so I can track my heart rate and time spent walking or exercising during the day. I like that it can also monitor your blood oxygen levels throughout the day. I utilize the notifications you can set for when my heart rate is indicator is above a certain level to make sure I am aware that I need to take a break from whatever I am doing so the level can go back down.
I also like being able to customize the watch with different display faces along with the variety of apps I have available to use while wearing it. I also like that Samsung makes it easy to change out different colors and types of watch bands that work with the new watch. I needed a bigger size band than what came with my watch and ordered a new one to make it even more comfortable while wearing.
Overall, I am very pleased with Samsung’s latest edition of the smart watch products.

The galaxy watch 7 ticks all the boxes. Great features, classic design, a beautiful bright screen, deep health and workout tracking features, integrations with a ton of apps ... but none of that matters if the battery is always dead (which it is)
Out of the box you get the watch with its included band (looks good!), and the wireless charger. Samsung continues to provide the shortest charging cables ever made, and the slowest charging speeds possible. Just slap a type-c port with fast charging on here or something instead of ultra slow wireless charging. This sucks
Setup is easy enough. Grab the samsung wearables app, connect to the watch and you're off. You will be prompted to update the watch, and you should. The default watch face is useless to me, as I like to see that "smart" data at a glance. Fortunately samsung has a huge variety of watch faces available that offer high customization and quick access to all of the data you'd like to see. I prefer a minimalist watch face, but I also like having daily activity goals displayed. Luckily there was a perfect face for my use case. There are also paid options but, come on.
The samsung "health" app has all of the stuff you would expect: activity goals, heart rate monitoring, step tracking, automatic workout detection etc etc. New to me are the skin temperature, blood oxygen level, sleep apnea detection, and ECG features. You will need to download two apps though to have all of these features, which is both inconvenient and confusing.
All of the more traditional features are housed in the samsung "health" app. Not to be confused with the "samsung health" app. Confused? Yeah no surprise. The app that holds most of your features and the one you'll interact with the most is called "health" (from samsung). Sleep apnea detection and ECG are locked behind a separate app called "samsung health" (also from samsung). This is a needless complication that shunts two features into a separate app when they could've just as easily been on the main menu or in a tab of the other app. I have no idea why this was done. It makes no sense.
That's most of what there is to the galaxy watch 7, but we have to talk about battery life. It's awful. For four or five days when you go into the wearables app to check out your battery life you won't get that information. Instead you'll see a message stating "learning your usage patterns". The idea here is that the watch will change its behavior based on how you use it. Presumably managing background apps power states and the like, to maximize efficiency. Cool. On my first full day with the watch I get up at 5, walk the dog, and immediately put the watch on the charger when I get back inside. At this point the watch had 24% battery remaining, but I had only used it from 9pm the night before. So I go about my routine, checking emails, having a coffee ... just waiting for the watch to hit 100%. That took almost 80 minutes, well over an hour. This thing charges painfully slowly, no big deal if I'm charging in the morning right? That's the problem. By 6pm on that first day the watch was at 14%. That's 86% battery drain in 13 hours. That feels really bad. I want the watch to be able to capture all of my sleep data so I charge it up when it hits around 10% (which again takes forever). I get up the next morning and it's rinse and repeat for a few days.
Then it happens. The watch has learned my usage patterns! Here comes that sweet sweet battery life bump. 17hr and 25 minutes, not bad! Well actually that is kind of bad. If I want the watch to make it to the next morning I'm going to have to charge before bed. Bummer. So I decide to turn down the brightness of the AOD a little bit, disable NFC because I don't save payments to my devices. See how that goes ... nah. Dead by morning.
So I give it a full charge, this time taking over 90 minutes, and I go look at my battery and - what have we here??! It now says my battery will get me 16 hours and 43 minutes of time. What happened to that 42 minutes? Oh well, I'm only on day 2 of the battery having "learned" my usage and my battery life is dropping dramatically. This is unacceptable. A smart watch should be, at a minimum, a 24hr device. The galaxy watch 7 cannot come close to that. Oh there are power saving features that promise to extend your up-time, but it involves disabling all of the smart features of the smart watch. What good is 24 hours of up-time if none of the activity data is being captured by the watch? It's just a regular watch ... a regular watch that'll still die in little more than a day. You can't even use it as a regular watch at this point because power saving disables raise wrist to wake. This is unbelievably bad.
This is not a good product. Great hardware. Great software. Great design. Abysmal battery life. I cannot recommend this watch to anyone looking to add a wearable to their daily routine. These things should disappear into the background. You shouldn't have to constantly be worrying about your remaining battery life, nor should you have to charge the watch multiple times a day just to eke out a full 24 hours. Samsung missed the boat on this one.
