Extremely DISAPPOINTED!! At the start of my Half Marathon the battery was fully charged at 100%, Battery life didn't even last 2 hours before it died and shut down. I was running the GPS, MP3 player, & my Bluetooth headset all at the same time. I specifically purchased this to be used primarily for Half and Marathon races for tracking. can you imagine my surprise when it died despite the Samsung rep telling me it would run for 10 hours before needing to be recharged. Since I was within the return policy time limit I was able to return it for a full refund.

    Way Better Then Expected!

I consider myself to be a tech junkie. Currently I am using the Samsung Gear 2 Neo(Mocha Grey) paired up to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3(Black). I love love love this combo! This watch is doing what it's designed to do! The original Samsung Galaxy Gear was cool.... but didn't do anything I really wanted it to do. I kept seeing that they were going to fix it with the next update.... I was impatient and didn't want to wait for the update so I got rid of it. I said if they would fix the notifications, battery life, water resistance, and price... I would be game to try out the next generation. Well Samsung, you were listening and you nailed it! I love the fact that I can make a phone call or send out a text message with out pulling out my phone. The watch is light weight and I have seen where people are complaining about it being plastic and it looking cheaper... well when you want a cheaper price they have to do something to lower the price. But In my opinion they didn't do it poorly. As a matter of fact I really like how light weight it is and I'm not as worried about scratching the watch as I was when it was brushed steel. I haven't given the watch a fair chance with the battery life just yet to see how long I can make a charge last. But with the heavy usage I have put on it so far.... it's lasting like a champ for 2 full days! I had to at the end of the second day do everything I could to get the battery to wear down so I could charge it. The Gear 2 doesn't burn up the battery on my phone. I have hardly noticed any difference in my battery life on my phone. I have tried the Sony Smartwatch 2 and I will say that thing ate my battery life up on my phone and would kill it by lunch time! My phone is lasting all day like it usually does with just a normal bluetooth headset hooked up to it. The water resistance I haven't test to the full extent yet... but I can tell you I'm not afraid to wash my hands where I was with the Original Gear smart watch. I love the on board 4GBs to store music. Can play it on the watch with out using your phone. The speaker could be a touch louder.... but it is a watch. The Taizen operating system is so intuitive... honestly you would have a hard time knowing its not Android. Moving the home button to the top of the watch instead of it being on side like the original is big to me too. You don't accidentally bump the home button like the original. Thank you Samsung for listening! You nailed it and have set the path for everyone else trying to build a smart watch from here on out!

Light, wearable, Does more than other Smartwatches

Nice! Light, very wearable, does more than any other Smartwatch. I am using the Gear 2, Neo with my Samsung Galaxy S4 (rooted with a custom KitKat rom) Setup was easy, once I downloaded Samsung's Gear Manager app from Playstore. Gear Manager had to update to work, and after that, the phone -watch sync was quick and solid. You will likely spend at least 15 minutes fiddling with the Gear manager. It is not complex, but not as straightforward as some apps either. After making selections in the program, most of the adjustments going forward will be on the watch. Still, some functions will always require the phone's Gear manager. I was surprised how light this watch is to wear. It is NOT bulky and not too big. (I normally don’t like to wear watches larger than 40mm). It has a very nice feel and fits well on the wrist. Nice wrist band. The screen is very readable and bright, sound seems fine unless you’re in a noisy crowd. In the two days I have tried almost every function: - Made and received phone calls and text messages. - Heartbeat monitor is accurate, except if you are moving around a lot. - Pedometer works well. - Received notifications nicely for all those apps that I let interrupt me (not many! Google Now, text msg, weather, a couple more) - Battery life seems very good. I used 39% in 18 hours of very heavy use. (I was almost constantly playing around with it, playing music, calls, texts, trying out all functions etc.). When I settle down and “just use” it, I am certain it will be even better. I notice that I have touched my phone about 60-75% less, both around the house and when I go out. - It is so convenient when calls come in now --I just look at the watch and either take them or discard. - Notifications are the same way, when they come in I glance and go --I don’t even stop what I am doing! - Since S-Voice is built into the watch, I can (and have) even do(ne) some searches without touching the phone. That’s quite handy and that’s why I wanted it. There are some downsides to this watch - - - #1. S-Health is a problem. - If you are using the “old” S Health (ver. 2.5) it won’t talk to the watch. You can search the web to find the new (Ver 3.0) S Health that was designed for the Galaxy S5 and try to load it on your phone (I did). If you can do that the S-Helath app and Neo work great together -watch data goes to phone for all activities. HOWEVER, all your prior in the cloud old S Health history is gone. (well, technically, it’s unavailable—even though it’s sitting on Samsung’s servers). S Health Ver 3.0 does NOT have the restore-backup function that the earlier functions have. So all your old S Health data from the web can’t be included. That is really, really annoying! - If you can't get/use S Helath30 don't worry. For all of us with “older” Samsung phones, we can download a free app called “Fitness with Gear” from Samsung. It’s pretty much the same as S Health for exercising! It works with Gear NEo and on the phone. They sync together ok as well. However Fitness with Gear seems to not have all the extras that S Health has. Also, I think you STILL can’t sync your old S Health account data with it (I need to check that). #2. Another downside (for me at least) to the Neo is the Sleep app…Where is it? My watch did not come with it! Perhaps I need to upgrade the software (I upgraded Gear manager to the latest already), and I have read that others either have it from purchase, or got it later. It’s just annoying. #3. Oh, the auto-on/wakeup feature is a bit sensitive. You simply lift you arm up a bit, and perhaps twist just a bit and the watch will turn on and display the time or last screen (your choice). Very convenient and it fits the natural motion of people looking at their watch. Except normal people raise their arms all the time -even when they are NOT looking at their watch. Unfortunately, the watch lights up ALL the time. At first it’s impressive and interesting to watch (sorry:-). It soon grows annoying,, however, so I turned off that function –and now the watch won't turn on just because I wave my hands or move my arms. I simply press the home button on the watch to see the time. The notifications still light up whenever the notifciation even occurs -this is different from checking the time, so that is a good amount of control. #4. Final bad (for all of us) is the total lack of applications. - OK, so this is NOT an Android watch. It’s a TIZEN watch. Looks and acts the same, except android apps won’t work. All those recent apps that some developer have written and that started to emerge for the first generation Galaxy Gear won’t work with this watch. - Right now, there are a handful of what I would describe limited use apps for this watch. (also, I don't mind paying for apps but paying a dollar for a basic calculator app?). This situation is not completely terrible, since all the basic functions ARE covered with Samsung’s built in apps; but anything extra is missing. - And while the current watch faces provided are ok, first generation gear uses have had hundreds of custom (android) watch styles to choose among. I miss that option. RECOMMENDATION: Overall, I would (yes) recommend this phone to any recent-model Samsung phone user. The downsides are annoying, but not deal breakers for me. The Neo is not quite stylish, but it is not ugly either. It’s kind of neutral, with a flat, utilitarian styled plastic design.

The S-voice sometimes doesn't pick up the commands and you have to repeat the command (sometimes over and over again). Other than that, it's perfect. I didn't need a camera so I went with the Neo 2. I could NOT be happier in receiving this as a gift for Christmas. I'm searching the web for apps and more are comng out every month....I'm excited to get them installed and in use. Another great Samsung product that works fabulously with my Samsung Note 4 and Galaxy Tab 4.

Has neat features (great if you don't need the camera, that's much more expensive), but if mainly using it for exercise and health there are cheaper, better options out there that also aren't as intrusive since this is rather large on your wrist. I do like how you can customize the strap, even putting a steel band on. A screen protector is recommended.

My wife got this watch as a Christmas gift for me. I really like it. I love it. But, buyer beware : it's a $200 plastic watch. Get the extended warranty!! It's only been 5 months, and the plastic posts that hold the band to the watch snapped off today. Because, well heck, they are plastic. My wife had purchased the extended warranty, so we are good.

Gear 2 NEO ***WARNING!!!DO NOT BUY!!!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My gear 2 NEO's sound stopped working. I don't shower with it, and maybe only get splashed from occasional rain or when washing dishes etc. I called Samsung and did the troubleshooting. I was asked if there's water damage, I said no. So I was told to send it in. A week later, I get an email saying its not under warranty, and that I need to pay $161 to repair. Mind you, I paid only $199 for it new. I asked about the "water resistant" advertised and was told that it will still get water damage, so basically, you cannot get type of moisture on this watch whatsoever...even sweating on it can damage it...so I told Samsung to Just send back and I will post my experience instead. DO NOT BUY THESE WATCHES FROM SAMSUNG!!! They will break within 6 months and It's under Samsung discretion to deny warranty. My $20 Timex is still ticking, and it's over 10 years old! Samsung support contacted me but kept insisting that the watch is water resistant to 1M for 30 minutes, even though the fine print tells you that the watch cannot get wet, even a splash.again, if you buy this watch, you will regret it...prepare to throw it away! Samsung support is also very condescending.
