I was looking for a ultrabook (without touchscreen) to replace my work computer, which was a HP DM4. I want something light but powerful so I can carry around. I want a PC that's is similar to MacBook Air. One of the most important feature is a backlit keyboard as I work in darker environment often.
The size and weight for the Series 9 is amazing. It's very thin and very light. just like the Macbook Air. It comes with an i7 chip, and SSD so performance is good. The graphics is your basic Intel 4xxx so it's good for business application, and that's about it.
My only grips is not so much the connectivity (uses micro HDMI and proprietary (think expensive and not included) ethernet connections. Have a USB DVD drive handy as well. However, you can't really upgrade the memory (it's soldered on the board) and uses mSSD so you can't just buy any SSD and replace it. 128 GB is not plentiful and with SSD prices dropping like a rock, I could use bigger storage space. The OS already takes up so much space these days.
Overall, it's a great laptop, sleek and less flashy than the ASUS (also looked at that). I have a Toshiba Protege and this one feels and weight much less (3.2 lb w/ DVD drive vs 2.6 lb).
I would recommend this to a friend
