I recently purchased the Geek Squad Certified Refurbished Samsung T7 2TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD, and I couldn’t be happier with the performance and quality. Right out of the box, the metallic red finish immediately stood out—it’s sleek, stylish, and feels solid in hand.
Performance-wise, this SSD is impressive. The data transfer speeds are lightning-fast, making it ideal for moving large files quickly. I’ve used it extensively for backing up my work files and multimedia projects, and it handles everything with ease. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface ensures that I’m getting optimal speed without any lag.
One of the standout features is the hardware encryption. I appreciate the extra layer of security it provides, especially since I’m storing sensitive information. Setting it up was straightforward, and it gives me peace of mind knowing my data is protected.
I use this SSD in my Tesla, and it has been through some extreme conditions—from scorching hot days to freezing cold ones. Despite the temperature fluctuations, the T7 has performed flawlessly, proving its durability and reliability.
Although this is a refurbished product, you wouldn’t know it by looking at or using it. It functions as if it were brand new, and I haven’t encountered any issues. Geek Squad did an excellent job ensuring the quality and reliability of this device.
Overall, if you’re in the market for a portable SSD that’s fast, secure, and can withstand various conditions, I highly recommend the Samsung T7. It’s a fantastic value, especially considering it’s certified refurbished, and it has quickly become an essential part of my tech setup.
I would recommend this to a friend

Refurbished SSD operates like New, This SSD may require it to be initialized before use. This can be done with Windows 10 or 11.

Purchased refurbished T7 2TB. Item received unusable until performing factory reset due to being locked with password. Reset done by installing Samsung Magician, selecting PSID Revert, and entering the long PSID code found on end of T7 unit. The T7 had nearly 500GB lifetime written upon my first check, shown in Magician.

First, as others have mentioned this drive is bare, you must connect it to a computer and initialize the drive and format it first. (Ease of use 2 stars because of Geek Squad)
Second, my drive came with very old firmware, Samsung magician software just a few clicks to update it. (Reports of this drive slowing down over time with the original firmware)
Third, I did not receive all original materials, just the drive and a USB A to C cable about 1.5 ft long.
Last, according to Samsung magician the drive I received had 6.1 TB of total written data. So around 3 total fill ups for the 2tb drive.
I got this for the sole purpose of expanding my Xbox series X storage, this was one of the cheapest 2TB options I found due to the geek refurb. It is over kill for a Xbox as it can't write or read to it at this drives max specification (get a T5 if it's cheaper, this was cheaper at the time I purchased $170), when moving games from internal to this it writes at 2.4Gbps (68GB game Titan Fall 2, moves to this drive in about 4 minutes, and it moves back to internal in the same time load times for games on it rarely notice any delay over internal drive) also note that only NON X/S games can be played directly from this.

This SSD is really nice and has the ability to be locked if you have a Samsung program for it. I like that you can store basically anything. It’s also compatible with Apple and windows. I’ve been using it to store pictures from my iPad and the usb-c to usb-c makes it a lot faster. I think it has a limit of up to 5gb you can send all at once before it lags but I once did a 7gb file and it worked well.

Small enough to tuck in a shirt pocket, big enough on the inside for your entire Steam library and then some. My games haven't run smoother, despite being an external drive. Also, it's taken a few drops with no isdues. Highly recommended.

I had this Samsung External SSD T2 2TB for 3 weeks now, and connected on MacBook Pro (Intel), Mac Mini (M1), Dell Inpiron with Ubuntu, and Raspberry Pi 4. It works great on all my machines. It is not the fastest SSD I have but it is the MOST portable and convenient. I also got a deal being it OPEN-BOX. There are some bad comments on REFURBISHED and OPEN-BOX product at BestBuy, but I ONLY purchase REFURBISHED and OPEN-BOX from BestBuy. I never had any issues other than damaged package, missing cable, or missing manual. I never had a problem with the product itself.

The packaging on this refurbed drive was in really bad shape. It truly looked bad, The drive itself seems to work fine. Beware I had to initialize the volume as well as format the drive to get it to work. This is a bit different than the ones you buy new. I assume the Geek Squad folks did that to be sure no information was left behind since it was a refurb.

I’m always on the hunt for extra storage and being able to carry it with me on the go without any extra equipment needed. The footprint and capabilities this drive has leaves me no worries it can handle the tasks

Speeds were extremely fast. No issues so far with the refurb. The device is somewhat warm to the touch even when there is nothing accessing it. a little troublesome but Internet says that’s normal.
