The packaging on this refurbed drive was in really bad shape. It truly looked bad, The drive itself seems to work fine. Beware I had to initialize the volume as well as format the drive to get it to work. This is a bit different than the ones you buy new. I assume the Geek Squad folks did that to be sure no information was left behind since it was a refurb.

I’m always on the hunt for extra storage and being able to carry it with me on the go without any extra equipment needed. The footprint and capabilities this drive has leaves me no worries it can handle the tasks

Speeds were extremely fast. No issues so far with the refurb. The device is somewhat warm to the touch even when there is nothing accessing it. a little troublesome but Internet says that’s normal.

I've tried about 4 refurbished external drives from best buy and the 2TB ones were the only ones that seemed to work correctly (maybe there's actually some degree of quality control from the geek squad at that point).
So if you decide you want less than a 2TB drive, don't buy it refurbished from here. Get it new here or somewhere else. And if you do get one, test it thoroughly before the 14 day return window is up.
Common problems i had with the lower storage ones: hanging on formatting, waking up and activating, staying connected during a data transfer, the usual. Packaging will be pretty random from these guys and maybe you'll get the cords, maybe you wont. I recommend having a high speed usb 3.0 C cable on hand just in case.
And you will ave to activate every one of these drives from the windows hard disk manager. It's not just a plug and play.

Great value and just right for backing up my MacBook Air. Worked as promised. Would recommend both the hard drive and Geek Squad Certified refurbished.

Great product, and a good price for it! I had never owned an external hard drive, or set one up, so it me a minute to figure out how to get it formatted. But overall, no issues at all. Would purchase again.
