    Counterfeit or Defective?

Was very excited about the $190 price for the Geek Squad Certified Refurbished T7, but when it looks too good to be true, avoid it. First and last time trying the certified refurb, might be safer with an open box return. Shipped and arrived quickly, looked authentic, although it was wrapped in plastic against a piece of cardboard. Hooked it up, tried speed testing the drive, ran super slow, 300-400ms, first clue it was either defective or fake. Ran dog slow compared to my other drives with the same specs. Erased the drive on my Mac and tried again. Still super slow, no improvement. Then I tried reformat and check for firmware updates with the Samsung Magician software, it said it wasn't a Samsung drive. Tried again on my gaming PC, it also did not recognize it as a Samsung Drive. What is the certified refurb process entail? Apparently not much. Sadly brought it back to store.

This was just want I needed to add to my Xbox Series X to replace my WD Game Drive. The speed of starting games is night and day from it vs the WD Game Drive.

Didn’t work. Would read on any of my computers or devices. Don’t bother buying pre owned storage it’s very common I was told.. price was great but doesn’t help if the item doesn’t function sad thing is it’s said that they are “tested” by geek squad…
