    Amazing Sound; Easy to Set-up

The sound from this system is unbelievable. Dolby Atmos enabled Netflix and Blue Ray disks through my Xbox One X sound phenomenal. My TV is not the newest, but I have had no issues with sound syncing (except when using Amazon Prime Video--a known issue with the Xbox One X App). Even just for listening to music, the sound is unbelievable. You can hear each string on a guitar and all ambient noise in a movie. Highly recommend making the jump in price for this system.

I purchased this sustem shortly after I bought my Samsung TV. When I went into the store, I asked what the best Soundbar Best Buy carries is, immediately the salesman took me to the Samsung bar that had Atmos. After about 10 seconds, and a 747 flyby, I was sold. I have owner Yamaha receivers, Paradigm speakers and this blew them all away! As an audiophile I know that soundbars always lack something... I’m still trying to figure out what this Soundbar is lacking

I have been searching for a decent sounding soundbar that supported the newer sound formats. My previous Samsung 2.1 channel soundbar no longer could handle them and constantly had to be adjusted to hear. This soundbar sounds great, the atmos surround surprisingly is projected to the sides and above creating surround from a bar, and sounds great with HDBluRay and Xbox One X games.

We have had sound bars in the past, and this particular one usually runs 1200 dollars, we got a great deal near 700. Well well worth the coast at that price point. The sound bar fills the room and is very responsive regardless of what your are watching. THe only thing I do not like is how it will NOT power cycle with the TV. Our old Samsung sond bar that was 200 dollars did.

This soundbar is awesome! Super easy to hookup and connect to tv and blueray player. Volume level is pretty strong, although I only have it on no more than 10-12 and it goes up to like 30. Sound is great from any part of the room and subwoofer connects wirelessly! If you watch alot of action movies or music videos, this soundbar is worth the investment!

Sound bars have come a long way and this is the most impressive improvement as of the date of this review. The sound out of this unit is amazing. There is not much programming available in ATMOS yet but even without the overhead firing speakers this sound bar will still rock your room.

We purchased a couple of other Samsung soundbars we wound up returning. We ended up buying this one after the salesmen working that day plugged it in for us at the store and gave us a personal demo. We were impressed. We were even happier with our purchase when we got home and plugged it up. It is a great soundbar. Don't let the price scare you away.

This is the high end Samsung soundbar and the sound quality reflects that. The tones are so much cleaner and distinct. The sound bar has plenty of internal speakers and the subwoofer gives a nice deep base into the blend. The surround sound is the best I have heard short of an amp based system with multiple front and rear speakers.

Short and dirty without ATMOS review. And why I picked this over SONOS Playbar. Setup: Samsung TV -> Sound Bar <- Tivo (Better with quirks) Tivo -> Samsung TV -> Sound bar (Not as good, see below) Pro: Amazing Sound via HDMI (arc), WIFI and BT. Simple design HDMI plug in & ARC (SONOS is fiber optic/WiFi only) ATMOS if you have the hardware (couldn't test at home). Cons: Doesn't keep TIVO HDMI (on soundbar )when turning on. So I have to flip from HDMI ARC (TV signal) back to HDMI 1 after the unit has been on for 20 seconds. Quirk. Not a deal breaker. Sound delay when Set-up is: TIVO->TV->Soundbar. (Not sure if this is my TIVO or soundbar issue) Sonos Playbar plug and play is an easier set-up. Smartthings is a little slow. Only Tune-in radio is available. Couldn't get Alexa to work, but I don't know if this is because I have an old Alexa. Expansion isn't as easy as SONOS. Samsung needs an option to sell the rear n950 speakers if It is available. Conclusions: Despite the above quirks, my needs were better met with the HW-N850 over SONOS' playbar. Center channel voices on the HW-N850 felt more natural/blended and the Playbar was more tunnel like. N850 comes cheaper when the subwoofer is included. SONOS Playbar + sub will set you back $400 more dollars. Having said the above, the SONOS did excel in plug n play with easier expansion capabilities. However, My set-up is for a corner room that doesn't need whole house expansion. Hope this helps someone on the fence between Samsung/SONOs.

I purchased his sound bar on sale and got another discount because of a TV purchase. The sound quality is awesome and it has Dolby Atmos included within the sound bar. Clearly, I feel it was a better choice than the Bose, which cost hundreds more.

I've owned a slew of speaker bars over the years and none of them match the power, magnitude and quality of this Samsung N850. Did a little research and found out you got to download some firmware to really maximize the quality performance of the Dolby Atmos experience. it is also a mutually important to get a TV that has high dynamic range capabilities and to use the HDMI ARC connection to get the best performance. I learned that after I plugged in an optical cable which only allowed for 5.1 surround sound. Yeah it's still worked great even on that setting, but if you want to get the true full-on experience do the suggested HDMI ARC connection, you will be able to tell the difference. This thing it's so darn loud, it almost overwhelms you. So be prepared if you get it you will not be disappointed.

We purchased this flagship Samsung soundbar along with a 75" Samsung TV from BestBuy. I've had a number of previous soundbars, including a recent LG SK9Y. Simply put, this soundbar excels in every respect compared to every other unit I've owned. Easily the best soundbar I've experienced. First, build quality is outstanding. All metal construction, with large enclosures for both the subwoofer and rear speakers. Connections are all wireless, and our setup went flawlessly, lliterally plug-n-play. Rear speakers on this soundbar including 2 separate drivers: rear surround, and rear-top speakers. I especially like the lack of wires for the rear speakers (other than the need to plug them into outlets). These are beefy rear speakers compared to the usual wireless units from LG or Vizio (which we've also owned). Integration with our Samsung TV went perfectly as well. The soundbar talks to the Samsung via HDMI-ARC. It's smart enough to switch between ARC channels (when using the TV native apps) and HDMI inputs on the soundbar (when using DirecTV mini-Genie or our 4K Apple TV), all automatically. I didn't have to teach the family a bunch of tricky remote operations, they just select the source and go, the soundbar switching perfectly. The HDMI pass-through works great for 4K/HDR10. Volume control was perfect, and the volume changes quickly. The volume level is shown on the TV, and reflected on the soundbar display. The soundbar display is big and easily read across the room, and TURNS OFF after a few seconds, thank you! (The LG soundbar drove us nuts, the display sitting there saying "optical" or "arc" constantly and never turning off). The soundbar powers on/off in perfect sync with our TV when using the TV power button on any number of our remotes. Sound from this unit is absolutely fantastic, the best of any soundbar I've ever heard. 3D imaging was very apparent with titles such as Netflix 4K-streaming "Lost in Space". You could close your eyes, and just point to various sound sources in full 3D glory from our viewing position. Level adjustments are easy enough with the included remote, and include the ability to set all the Atmos levels including front, center, side, rear, sub, and front-top and rear-top levels. Bass was crisp and clear. There's a full 10-band equalizer available in the "advanced" settings within the app, if you so desire. The "auto" mode for surround processing has worked fantastic. For normal TV/News, the sound field is front and center, coming from the TV itself. Switch to a 5.1 source, and the sound field expands and fills the room. We've not yet tried Dolby Atmos (I think, see below), as I'm waiting for the 4K Apple TV to support this. Honestly, "Lost in Space" via the native Netflix app on our 2018 Samsung 75" TV sounds like its streaming Atmos, but the info in the app says its only 5.1 . It sure sounds way better than other 5.1 material I've heard, so perhaps Atmos is working with the Samsung native apps after all. I'll know for sure once Apple TV opens up Atmos in TVoS 12. Regardless, the 3D sound fields we have experienced with this are just wonderful. Not overpowering, but very movie-like. We've been startled more than once with side- or rear-effects in various movies and streams. Indeed, this soundbar excels at both higher-volumes for family movie night, and lower volumes for light night viewing as well. It all sounds quite natural to my ear. All-in-all, I'm just thrilled with this soundbar. Full 3D sound fields and great sound, wonderful construction, seemless integration with our Samsung TV, it all just works. My only (minor) suggestion would be a better iphone app to allow finer control of various elements of the settings (like level control, which a present can only be set via the remote). Also, mic-based setup would be nice at this price point for auto-levels and auto-equalization. None-the-less, our results out of the box are stellar. Highly recommended.

I will have to say for how expensive this sound bar is and to have the Harmon Kardon name on it I’m not as impressed as I thought I’d be. Setup was very easy. I’ll have to say the back ground noises and feel of having surround sound that this sound bar puts out is pretty amazing. The subwoofer thumps and has the right amount of bass for music or movies. But I’ll have to say the dialogue from the sound bar is lacking. Watching tv anything below volume 25 seems muffed and the dialogue is hard to hear. Once you go over volume 25 it seems to get better and you can hear people talking more clearly. But by then the sound bar is too loud for just casual watching. There’s no happy medium. I’ve played with all the settings read everything you can possible read on settings and equalizer settings. I’ve had it setup every way possible and nothing makes it better. You would think with the Harmon Kardon name and them being around do longyou think you wouldn’t have this kind of audio problem with one of their products. Great product over all but lacking in the center channel

this should be a five star review, but there are some issues. ive exchanged this soundbar a few times and had the same issues with all units. 1st. i experienced constant distortion from the right side speaker everytime i tried to bitstreamed audio that wasnt dolby atmos or dtsx when the soundbar was in smart mode. the n850 is the same soundbar as the n950 without the rear speakers. i discovered when i purchased the optional swa 9000 rear speakers, this issue was resolved. so im assuming that smart mode was made to incorporate the entire setup. im glad i dont have the distortion, but the soundbar should function properly as sold. 2nd, on every unit i tested i got an occasional single static popping sound from the speakers regardless of the audio content. Its completely random, and i dont know how to fix it or if it can be fixed. Ive raised the issue through the samsung community, hoping for a fix or a software patch, but as of now, ive received zero response from samsung. very disappointing. other than these issues, the sound is amazing (especially dolby atmos). Getting the swa 9000s rear speaker addition is highly recommended if you didnt get the n950 which comes with rear speakers. Im happy with my purchase, but somewhat disappointed that samsung hasnt addressed these issues or even responded.

I replaced my Definitive Tech Studio sound bar with this one. Samsung acquired Harmon Kardon. Happy with the sound quality, television sound output is significantly better than the Definitive Tech Studio sound bar. The form factor is sizable relative to other sound bars.

So, this just about the best you can get. I waited a while for a sale cause this baby costs more than most of the TV's! I got a great price and hooked it up to my 82" Samsung. I was blown away! It was easy to hook up to the TV, too, just 1 cable.
