they have a very nice presentation but in actuality when you bring it home, it kinda sucks, its too tall, it needed to be a tad wider and 8 to 10 inches shorter. You need at least 30" front to back desk I will be returning mine, its fuzzy, I get weird lines and have to unplug and replug, the sound is not great either, not what I expected for a 3500 dollar monitor Its very heavy, at least the stand is. Build quality is great, but overall its just a tv with an option to use it as a monitor, It should be the other way around. I will go back to my g9 neo for now.

I got this screen after hearing all the hype and I must say its awesome. Just a few things before you consider getting this. Firsr, check your desk can deal with the added weight. And ensure that you have the space for it both vertically and horizontally. The built in speakers are good for watching videos or whatnot but of youre going to game on this you want some good speakers to complete the immersive experience that this monitor delivers.

    An Incredibly Immersive Gaming Experience

This is one of the most epic gaming experiences I've ever had. This display completely takes immersion to the next level; especially for third party rpg/action/adventure genres. Racing and flight genres are also equally as jaw dropping. Despite the incredible level of immersion that this display is capable of providing though, it's not without it's caveats. You also may want to be equipped with flagship hardware to truly take advantage of what this display has to offer. There is also one glaring productivity feature that is missing; a productivity feature that a display like this needs to have especially if it is to replace a multi monitor setup. This is something I'll address later on in the review and something that I really hope Samsung is able to address in a future firmware release. ------------------- SETUP ------------------- I highly recommend that you have another person to help you unbox and setup this display. Not only is the packaged box heavy (126 lbs), but the large size of the display and the weight of the stand will make it very difficult to set this up on your own. The display without the stand weighs 46.5 lbs. Fully assembled with the stand, it weighs 91.5 lbs. The instructions are fully illustrated, clear, and to the point. Setting this up with the help of my brother was a breeze. The stand for this gaming display is extremely high quality, but it's also HUGE! If this stand is going on a desk, I highly recommend checking that your desk has enough depth to accommodate the stand and that your desk can also support the weight of this display when fully assembled. This is especially the case if you have a high end gaming PC tower that you plan on placing on your desk alongside this display. As seen in my pictures, I have an uplift desk that spans 72 inches wide and 30 inches deep. It also has a heavy duty frame that supports upto 355 lbs. I would certainly not feel comfortable putting this on a budget Amazon desk. For reference, the base of the stand itself measures 14 inches deep and 13.25 inches wide. After having measured, I think the absolute minimum desk depth that you can get away with, so that you have enough space for your keyboard and mouse, would be 24 to 25 inches. ------------------- PERFORMANCE------------------- The specs pretty much speak for themselves: A 4K 55 inch quantum mini-LED VA panel with a prominent curve (1000R), freesync premium pro, a 1ms response time, 165Hz refresh rate, and proper HDR support (1000 nits of peak brightness). It doesn't get any better than this for a display of this size. The color reproduction and accuracy of this display is gorgeous. Since this is a VA panel, you're going to get the inkiest and deepest blacks. Colors are vivid yet accurately represented; not overly saturated like you typically find on some of Samsung's AMOLED displays. A big concern of mine, especially with a screen this size, was white uniformity. In the past, I've had issues with both IPS and VA panels exhibiting the "dirty screen" effect when white backgrounds or scenes were imposed on the screen. I'm happy to report that uniformity is not an issue with this display. There was a tiny bit of white inconsistency closer to the edges of the screen but nothing that you would ever notice during gaming sessions or scene transitions. The HDR on this monitor looks incredible either when gaming or watching movies. One small point of confusion for me, though, is that the box that this display came in stated that it is HDR 2000. When it was debuted at CES, it was also discussed that it would be HDR2000. However, when looking at the specs on Samsung's website, they list the peak brightness of this display at 1000 nits and not 2000 nits. In any case, the HDR is top notch and this thing gets incredibly bright! I found gaming experiences the most satisfying when playing third person games in the RPG, action, and adventure genres (watching movies on this thing was equally as incredible too!). Racing and flight games feel like they were made for this monitor. Putting the monitor in "cockpit mode" for flight or space combat games like Star Wars: Squadrons, provides the most surreal experience that no other monitor currently on the market can provide. Add a joystick or a racing wheel and you have yourself the ultimate sim experience. With all of this said, there is one genre that I still prefer playing on a more traditional screen size and that's competitive multiplayer first person shooters. Since a lot of multiplayer first person shooters rely heavily on reaction time, having such a massive screen certainly adds to the time it takes you to scan all of that real estate. However, I did find that a great compromise was simply using the "Flex Move Screen" feature to resize the screen to something a bit more traditional like 27 or 32 inches. This was a pretty useful feature for me as I frequently play games like CS:GO and Overwatch. ------------------- ARK DIAL & REMOTE ------------------- The Ark dial was an ingenious touch by Samsung. I absolutely love this thing. The Ark dial has a rotating knob that makes it incredibly easy to navigate through all the different UI options and features. It also has physical buttons which act as shortcuts for things like scrolling through the different HDMI sources on the multimedia "one connect box" and also accessing quick settings, flex move screen, multi view, and the game bar. Having these options readily available through the Ark dial make it easy to resize the screen, split the display into multiple screens, quickly access settings tailored for gaming, and a multitude of other customization options to adjust picture and sound. The Ark dial is also solar-powered so you never have to worry about charging it! Another very cool accessory that Samsung included is a compact remote (also solar-powered). Since this is a large display, I love that we have a remote that we can use while sitting back and enjoying movies or multimedia content. It conveniently has 4 physical buttons to quickly launch Netflix, Disney +, Prime video, and Samsung TV Plus. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of content offered on Samsung TV plus given that it's a free service. I found myself constantly using the "multi view" feature to split the screen in two seperate screens so that I could keep Samsung TV plus running on one of the screens while using my PC on the other. Speaking of Samsung TV Plus, the built-in audio bar is actually pretty impressive. The sound has some decent bass to it and dialogue sounded very crisp and clear with no distortion even at loud volumes. ------------------- CAVEATS ------------------- There are a couple important caveats that you must know if you're planning on picking up this monitor. I think the most important caveat of is the fact that this monitor does not support the ability to display more than 1 HDMI source at a time. This is a pretty big deal if you are planning on using this monitor for productivity purposes. When I first saw video content of this monitor being debuted at CES, all of the marketing material showed how this 55 inch Odyssey Ark monitor can actually display 3 or 4 different screens at once. Considering that this display comes with the "one connect box" (4 port HDMI 2.1 switcher), I was extremely excited at the prospect of using a solution like this to get rid of my multi-monitor setup at home that I use for work. The "multi-view" feature of this Odyssey Ark display allows you to split the display into 3 or 4 screens. However, only 1 of those screens has the ability to display an HDMI source. The other screens are confined to only running native applications supported by the display. I really do hope that Samsung is able to address this in a firmware update and allow us to display more than 1 HDMI source at at a time. From a productivity standpoint, this is the only way that this display can truly be considered a replacement for a multi monitor setup. Another important caveat to note, is that if you're an Nvidia user, and you're still using an RTX 20xx series card or older, you will not be able to utilize HDMI 2.1 to run 3840 x 2160 at the full 165hz refresh rate. Because the included media box only supports HDMI sources, the display will rely on HDMI 2.1 to be able to achieve 4K @ 165hz as well as the ability to support variable refresh rate (VRR). As we all know, the RTX 20xx series cards and older only support HDMI 2.0. This means that if you're an Nvidia user and you're running an older card other than a 30xx series GPU, HDMI 2.0 will only support upto 120hz at 2560x1440 and upto 60hz at 3840x2160. I personally tested this by going back and forth between a 2080Ti and a 3080. You can use a USB type-C to HDMI adapter (assuming your 20xx GPU or older has a USB type-C display port) to "unlock" 3840 x 2160 at 120Hz, but variable refresh rate won't be supported. To really take full advantage of all the tech that this display is capable of, I highly recommend pairing this with a 30xx series card or the equivalent of that on the AMD side. ------------------- CONCLUSION ------------------- In terms of providing an immersive gaming experience with the highest visual fidelity, this is hands down the best gaming monitor I've ever used. In the segment of high end gaming monitors at this size, the performance (and experience) is unmatched. However, having all this screen real estate with a 4 port HDMI switcher but only being able to use 1 HDMI source at a time is something the holds back the productivity potential of this monitor. With that said, if this is going to mainly be used for gaming and watching content, I can't think of another monitor currently on the market that I would rather have. For those of you wanting the best for your home theatre gaming/multimedia setup, this display should definitely be at the top of your list for consideration.

The Samsung Odyssey Ark is definitely the most immersive experience available outside of using a VR headset. This screen feels absolutely massive when you first sit down in front of it. The 1000R curvature provides a great wrap-around effect that envelopes your peripheral vision. PROS: Amazing Picture Quality Good Sound Extremely Immersive Four HDMI 2.1 Ports Excellent Stand Quality Included VESA Mount Adapter Good Selection and Functionality of Apps CONS: UI is TV 1st and Monitor 2nd Monitor Settings Buried in Menus Unable to Display Multiple HDMI Inputs Slow to Power On (by monitor standards) Ark Dial Requires Frequent Charging Image/Sound Quality Samsung has definitely infused some of their top tier television tech to achieve astonishing picture quality and surprisingly good sound. The sound output is nearly on par with most soundbars, minus a subwoofer of course, and with being seated so close there is good stereo separation and even a noticeable height aspect in Atmos content. As for the image, Samsung is no stranger making high quality QLED panels for their TVs and it's evident they employed the best of their available tech here and sprinkled in some gaming niceties like 165hz and VRR. The black levels and local dimming are virtually on par with the 85QN90A that's in my living room. Even up close there is very minimal blooming and with the brightness output maxing out over 2000 lumens highlights in HDR content can be very intense. The colors are nice and vibrant covering 90% of DCI-P3 spectrum and it appears that Samsung has learned to dial back the saturation a tad over the years providing a more natural looking picture. I found the Warm1 setting to offer the best colors to my eyes. I used my S22 Ultra and the included auto calibration on the Smart Things app to see how far off my preferred setting are from calibrated settings. I learned that I apparently really enjoy brightness as the colors looked the same but the backlight setting was cut almost in half. This was a cool addition to play with and is something offered on Samsung's 2022 line-up of high end TVs as well. UI and Functionality The Ark also borrows the One Connect unit from Samsung TVs enabling it to not only function as a monitor but also a smart TV. This is one of those 'for better or worse' situations though. The smart features all function well but I'm not sure that they are something that I actually want built into my monitor. The UI is heavily Smart TV first and PC monitor second. There is no one button solution to return to my PC input after using a built-in app, and I feel like this is sorely needed for a device that seems primarily directed at the PC monitor market regardless of being called a "Personal Gaming Theater". Having to dig through the input menu every time to return to my desktop makes it so I don't really use the Smart TV functions making their inclusion a bit of a waste. I understand why they are included as the built-in apps are needed to fully utilize the split screen modes as you cannot use more than one HDMI input at a time. I feel like limiting two of the ports to HDMI 2.0 or limiting the frequency/color channels to meet the 75Gbps of the One Connect cable for split screen use would have been a better answer. Samsung has other models that support separate inputs to be displayed side-by-side so I know it's a possibility. Another TV annoyance is how slow the Ark is to turn on compared to a standard monitor, it's not a massive difference but it is noticeable compared to my other monitors. The Gimmick The single cable used by the One Connect is also what allows the monitor to easily rotate from portrait to 'Cockpit' mode. This is the vertically rotated mode that you see in everyone's thumbnail for review videos. It's pretty insanely tall and a bit overwhelming at first sight. My stepfather likened it to sitting in front of one of those towering slot machines downtown. The usability, though, is questionable at best. When rotating it automatically resized my PC input to the lower third of the screen and in doing so it severely skewed the text rendering and made my desktop unreadable. It also opened the SamsungTV app and an app selection window in the top and middle thirds of the screen. The scaling of the apps was fine and reselecting the resolution on my PC cleared up the scaling issue there as well. In this standard rotated mode I can't say that I actually find much use for it. The Ark Dial functionality and moving the screens around on the vertical real-estate works well enough, and the ability to prioritize and blend the volume of the separate apps works well, but I don't see it being practical at all. Luckily, buried in the quick menu bar, there is a setting that allows you to choose the aspect ratio of the monitor and effectively disable the auto-rotation functionality. With the aspect forced to 9:16 you can use the entirety of the screen as a PC monitor in vertical mode. This allows you to vastly make better use of the space depending on your use case and setup however changing orientations now needs to be done manually. I won't take too much away from the Odyssey Ark based on this section as I think most people will be choosing an orientation and sticking with it only rotating the monitor out of initial curiosity and possibly to show off for friends. Build Quality/Components This thing is a tank. I highly recommend having a friend help you while attaching the monitor to the stand and lifting the whole assembly onto the desk. Don't do what I did and go it alone, I got it done but it was kind of sketch and probably not worth the risk. The stand is super beefy and offers plenty of adjustability for height and tilt with almost zero screen wobble while wiggling the desk. Samsung also includes the necessary adapter to use a VESA wall mount while maintaining its ability to rotate. The size of this monitor cannot be understated and I actually had to remove some shelving I had above my desk to make room. The included remote is identical to those included with Samsung TVs and even functions with them as I found out when both my monitor and bedroom TV turned on at the same time. The Ark Dial only works with the monitor so that is my preferred control method. I like the idea of the dial as it would be a pain to reach around the side of a monitor this size to adjust settings plus you'd likely be too close to read the menus while working the controls. During initial setup the Ark Dial and remote were already paired however the dial knob did not function. I was able to resolve this by re-pairing the Ark Dial in the TV menu and did not see this issue arise again. I was, however, prompted every other day that the Ark Dial needed charging. I thought this was odd as it has a solar panel just like the remote and they sit in roughly the same spot on the desk near a window. I'm not sure if this is normal battery life or I have a defective unit but I just tend to leave it plugged in and keep in on the base of the stand. Conclusion If the Samsung Odyssey Ark is in your budget and you have the physical space for such a large monitor, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for an unmatched immersive experience for gaming. With it's eye searing available brightness, great pixel response, outstanding contrast and colors, and sheer massive size it truly stands alone in the monitor market. The only caveats are to know it's limitations. No simultaneous inputs, a UI designed for TVs, and a somewhat limited use of multiscreen modes. This is undoubtedly an item of excess but oh what a way to game.

The Best Monitor I've Ever Used Hands Down!!

The Samsung 55’ Odyssey Ark Gaming Monitor is one of the most unique electronic products I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. I’ve been playing video games for 30 years and remember what it was like to play Nintendo on an old tube tv. This Ark monitor is like a step into the future, something you would have only seen on a sci-fi movie growing up. It’s a surreal experience and something that every hardcore gamer should have on their list but with a $3500 price point its not for everyone. With the initial unboxing of this monitor you truly get a sense of the size and scale. The biggest monitor I’ve ever owned is 30” so going to 55’ is a huge leap and honestly feels incredibly massive for a desk setting. The assembly instructions were very simple and easy to understand and Samsung did a really good job of using the Styrofoam inserts to balance the unit during setup. It definitely is a two person job so make sure you have a buddy to help with setup. The one issue I ran into after assembly is the weight of monitor itself. I realized because of the rotation orientation and the stand needed to support it this monitor clocks in at a beefy 91 pounds assembled. Unfortunately I have a glass desk that just would not support the weight, so we had to move an older wooden hutch to place it on. So just a warning if you have a desk make sure it can support the weight and has the space to fit it as it takes up a pretty wide footprint. Once we got everything setup and assembled the rest was a breeze. The monitor comes with a OneConnect box which is typical of Samsung monitors and something I always find handy for cable organization instead of having to use the back of the monitor. There are 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports and a USB connect share, along with a Ethernet Plug and optical audio cable. Hooking up to my Alienware Pc I was able to adjust the monitor to a whooping 3840x2160 resolution, which is ALOT of screen real estate. The first thing that you notice with this monitor once sitting down in front of it is the sheer size. If you’re only sitting a few feet away it almost wraps around into your peripheral vision. The curve in the screen for normal computer use takes a little getting used to but after a while it felt comfortable and natural. I am a photographer and video editor for my day job so the use of screen space for things like Photoshop and Premiere Pro is downright impressive. So that bring me to one of the most impressive features of the entire monitor! It can rotate vertically!!! Vertically the monitor can display up to 4 different screens at one time and they can be customized and moved using a ridiculously cool ARK control. This control (which is also solar powered) can be set on your desk kind of like a futuristic sci fi panel to move the screens manipulate the screen sizes, settings, and configuration all at the touch of a button. While a normal controller is included I found myself using the ARK a lot more often. With the panel vertical you can use multiple screens to watch TV or use other apps such an Netflix or Youtube tv or browse the internet while using your computer or gaming input. I’ve seen other examples of using twitch or streamer apps so this monitor might be especially useful for streamers. Another cool feature is you can link the monitor to your phone and use it as the worlds largest Instagram or TikTok monitor. The only feature I wish could have been included would have been multiple HDMI’s at one time. It would have been amazing to have 2-3 people playing different consoles on one monitor. The bread and butter of this monitor though is in the horizontal orientation. I can honestly say I’ve never played on a more crisp, clear, and beautiful monitor in my entire life. Maxed out on my PC using the HDMI 2.1 inputs and HDR10+ games like Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Apex Legends are absolutely stunning. The screen has new Quantum Mini-LED technology which gives zero screen leak from what I can tell and bright rich colors and true blacks. The screen has an antiglare matte finish which is very helpful because my room has a window in it that usually causes a lot of glare. With a 165hz refresh rate and the VRR feature synced with AMD Freesync Premium Pro there was no screen tearing whatsoever or lag in response time at all while playing any games, which has not been the case with my previous monitor. I can especially see this monitor being popular with the Sim Racing community as the wrap around screen with driving games makes it feel like you’re actually in the car. Again the software for the Samsung monitor shines with the Game bar that allows you to optimize game settings instantly. Another very cool featuring using the Ark control is at any time if you want a smaller screen you can move the 55 inch all the way down to 27 inches on the fly. It also supports 16:9, 21:9, and 32:9 aspect ratios! This monitor literally makes your jaw drop when you see it in person. It is by far the best gaming monitor I’ve ever played on in my 30 years of gaming. It is definitely a conversation piece for anyone who’s very seriously into gaming but at the $3500 dollar price tag it won’t be for everyone. I could see this monitor really shining for streamers or people who have serious gaming racing rigs. You only live life once and I can honestly say my gaming life has been improved for the better with this monitor. If you have the cash to spend I highly recommend it, you won’t be disappointed!

    So Far I'm Impressed!!

I held off on this monitor for a while and waited until some reviews and bugs worked themselves out. Not to mention for the price to drop dramatically during the black Holiday specials. I love the viewing angle of this monitor and the 1000R curve. This is my first monitor with such an advanced curved now I actually get it! Prior to this monitor I had an LG C1 48 in on my desk and I couldn't for the life of me game on that monitor without getting extreme motion sickness. With this monitor it can game for hours and motion blur hasn't been a problem. It has been a little bit of a learning curve trying to figure out all the different features this monitors has but its very quick and once its up and running it's very versatile in what it can do. I like the fact that as I type this I'm watching Netflix, the market and looking at discord. I know a lot of people are upset you can only use 1 HDMI input at a time but I believe that may be a limitation in the UCONNECT bandwidth. I knew this when I purchased this monitor and it hasn't bothered me one bit since it's very easy to switch between multiple sources. I was able to hook this monitor up and start gaming at a 165hz with my 3080 gpu. I have to admit I thought cockpit mode was a gimmick until you game in portrait mode while have additional screens open up top, it is unreal. One thing I highly would recommend if gaming in cockpit mode is to not use the Multiview option built in to the monitor. Instead change your pc settings to portrait mode to keep the screen in 4k. Additionally in cockpit mode with Samsung Multiview the monitor defaults to 1080p and gaming doesn't look as crispy as I'd like. (Conclusion) Great monitor if your looking for a device that offers versatility and excellent gaming performance. I'm very happy with my purchase and build quality is very premium and top notch. The speakers are the best I've heard from any monitor and TV which makes gaming feel even more immersive. I haven't had any software bugs to speak of yet and I do I'll update my post. If your looking for hands down the top of the food chain monitors on the market right know I don't anything come close this one.

I decided to try this monitor back in August of last year, since I had heard others talking about it, and although I was a bit pensive regarding the size, I thought “how big could it be?” The answer is, “massive”. When it arrived, I was alone and thought I’d just move it into the house. That was a chore; the boxed product weighed probably 120+lbs, but the size of the box is what made it unwieldy. Once inside, I unboxed it and moved it upstairs piece by piece. The instructions state that two people should assemble and move the assembled product, but I was able to do it by myself, although if I had to do it again, I’d wait for help. Again, the issue isn’t really the weight, although that is substantial, the main problem is that the assembled product is unwieldy to control if you have no help. Once I had it set up on my desk, I no longer wondered if I needed a bigger desk, I started to think I might need a bigger room. Hooking everything up was uneventful, but from the very first day, I noticed small issues with the monitor. For instance, sometimes I would lose sound if the monitor was in game-mode, or the monitor would go into screen-saver mode in the middle of gaming, and occasionally I would get color disparities… once a full ½ of the screen had a grey ‘shadow’ on it. I did a ton of troubleshooting with the contact at Samsung, and finally it was decided that the product I had was one of the earlier models and needed to be repaired because of a problem with cables/main board. However, due to supply chain problems, I was eventually told that my product was going to be replaced. Time dragged on, and I eventually stopped using the monitor because it was so unreliable. Finally, on December 29, the replacement arrived. I didn’t really complain about the time it took to resolve the problem because I didn’t pay for the product, but had I paid, I doubt I would’ve been as patient. Anyway, when the replacement arrived, the delivery man and I assembled and moved the unit into place… MUCH easier with two people. The replacement monitor has been working great, with none of the issues seen in the first unit. First things first, this thing is LARGE, and it weighs close to 100lbs, so make sure the desk you’re using isn’t going to buckle under the weight. Setup is rather straight forward once the monitor is in place. One nice thing about the product is that it has a One Connect hub which means there’s only one wire going to the back of the monitor (allowing for easy rotation); all other connections go through the One Connect hub. The UI feels more like that of a TV than a monitor, and at first, I found it confusing; there are a ton of settings, many of which are mutually exclusive. The included apps are quite varied, allowing you to watch almost any content you can think of. The ability to put multiple feeds on the monitor at once is a nice feature, and the ability to mix the sound from those feeds is useful; you can put a game in a large window, and then have 1 or 2 smaller windows lower volumes. One thing that surprised me is the inability to put more than one HDMI feed on the monitor at a time. I suppose it’s a bandwidth limitation, but I was shocked when I discovered it wasn’t possible. There are two remotes with the unit, one akin to the remote for a TV, and the other larger Ark Dial. I use both remotes, but the Ark Dial is a bit easier when working with multiple windows. The color on this monitor is amazing, but when I tried gaming in HDR, the brightness was almost painful, however even without HDR, the color, especially while gaming, is incredible. The sound is also much better than I expected. I have the unit on a corner desk, so that might have something to do with how well it sounds, but I’m so impressed with it that I now usually use my sound bar/sub-woofer for music, instead of gaming. The monitor is well made, and every aspect of the product feels solid; it’s quite stunning to look at when you first get it set up and take it in. An even more impressive sight is when the display is rotated vertically. The unit is extremely stable, so there’s never any issue with rotating the monitor; it’s very easy to do. I don’t play any games that really work in vertical mode, but I did put multiple feeds on the display in that mode, and although some might find it useful, especially if playing a FPS, for me, it was almost like looking up the side of a cliff. In landscape mode, gameplay is quite immersive in full-screen mode, however I do wish the stand allowed the monitor to be lowered another 1-2 inches; I have it as low as it will go, and it just seems a smidge too high at times. Overall, I like this monitor. The later models have evidently ironed out the issues I encountered with the first one I tested; this one has been problem free for 2+ months (knock on wood) of heavy use. Would I have spent $3500 on it (the price when I received it)? Probably not, but the price has dropped some since then, so if it’s within your budget, I don’t think you’d be disappointed at all with this product.

It is not for everyone, first will suggest you find a friend to help you lift and install, it can be done by yourself, but it is heavy, follow the instruction to install is the easiest way. It is the best one on the market with the current technology, but it is not perfect: The stand is sturdy but wish it can lower the screen few inches more, I'm 5' 10", and for my sitting position, my eyes are not at the center of the screen even at the lowest You will need a desk that at least 30 inches deep to get the optimal viewing distance which is 80cm It can only display one HDMI at a time, hope they can release new firmware to change it, but you will lose the high refresh rate at multi view The OS system has many "sponsor" app that can not be remove which can be annoying to you and the "home" button seems always go back to the "game" page can't reprogram to "media", or at least I haven't figure out a way yet I notice some flickering if I set the refresh rate to 165 on my pc, if I lower it to 120 the issue is gone, it's only noticeable when you sit in front of the screen using it as a computer monitor Things that it is good: Screen is bright, HDR is amazing when watch movie (use the apps, windows HDR still bad) Speaker is decent for a TV, but if you want the best, sound bar is the way One connect box is great, no need to plug the stuff at the back and super easy to hide the cables Comes with a remote and the dial, leave the dial on the desk when using as monitor and the remote when further away, both can be recharge with solar or USB C; the remote is responsive and actually using BT, so you don't have to point at the TV, there is a tiny delay on the first press, I think it will turn into standby mode if inactive for a while; the ark dial is cool especially when you want to adjust the ratio, but you can live without it actually :)

This is an amazing monitor, something that I’ve been dreaming about for many years, and finally, the future of TV’s and monitors is here! A monitor that can display multiple content sources, arranged in little content box’s that can be resized and rearranged on the massive 55” curved screen. They call this thing a monitor, because it does far exceed all the desired specs for a high-end gaming monitor, but let’s be honest, at this size it’s a highly functional television that comes with a super heavy stand so that it can be easily rotated to a vertical display. When I say heavy, I mean it. I can tell you that the shipping box weighs 122lbs according to the packing slip, so be ready for that. And the monitor with the stand weighs 92lbs, so make sure you have a table or desk that can support that weight. I use a hand built, sturdy solid wood compact kitchen table as my desk, and it supports the weight just fine. But lower quality desks might collapse under this weight. I can’t figure out what the display weighs by itself, without the stand, for mounting purposes, but I’m guessing it’s much less, because the stand is a beast! You’ll have to email support or do your research to find out. Because of the weight, you will need two people to move the monitor around, per the included installation guide. You will also need to carry and hold it, in a specific way, shown by a diagram in the installation guide, to protect the monitor while moving it. Unpacking the monitor and getting it set up does require two people and will take about an hour. You need to pay special attention to the Installation Guide steps. On step eighteen, after moving the monitor to the desk, the guide instructs you to rotate the monitor to horizontal. I either didn't understand the icons on the step, or just got it wrong, but I’m pretty sure I broke the locking mechanism that locks the monitor into a portrait or landscape position. I didn’t raise it up a few inches before rotating and heard a grinding/clicking noise as it rotated. I actually had to contact support to request a user manual, which did not come with the unit, to find out that it was supposed to lock when put into position. Mine no longer locks, but seems to sit level just fine. The screen on this monitor is epic! With a brilliantly lit 10000 nits bright 4k display, 1000R curved screen, 1ms response time with HDMI 2.1, Quantum Mini-LED and so much more, (see the product specs). This is the most impressive, top of the line gaming monitor I’ve ever used, and I expect it to hold that title for a long time. This thing is going to be hard to beat, though the competitors are trying their best, Samsung really gives it all to you with this display making your content, video, gaming and viewing experiences come to life unlike other displays. The contrast from the Quantum Mini-LED is OLED-like IMO, and is a huge step up from traditional LED. There is no display port, which surprised me, but it makes up for that by including four super fast HDMI 2.1 ports which can handle next generation consoles at 4K/120Hz, and PC gaming at even faster refresh rates. In my experience, this has been a huge upgrade and all my games look absolutely amazing, regardless of the source. Xbox, Switch, PC, Samsung Gaming Hub, Stadia. I’ve tried them all and they are all fast, responsive and look beautiful! All four ports also support variable refresh with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro on board for PC players. I was excited to use the multi-screen feature on this display, something I’ve been wanting since I was a kid and another wish list item checked off. However it’s only a partial check because although it does display up to four content sources at once, only one of those can be from the connected One Connect HDMI hub. The other three have to be a combination of apps and widgets or screen mirroring/shared desktop. And not all apps, only a few of the preselected built-in apps. This might change as the unit receives updates, but I can’t be certain. You can display a PC, YouTube, an internet browser and the time/weather, things like that. You can also put the monitor into vertical mode and show up to three sources, stacked. It’s a really awesome way to view content and stream live, but you’ll want to put something “secondary” on that top slot, something you only glance at, otherwise you will get a stiff neck trying to watch it. The content on screen can be moved around and resized quickly and easily using the Ark Dial. I will admit, it does take some practice navigating the different content sources and selecting your balance between up to two audio sources, but once you get it, it’s not that complicated really. This monitor features a built-in, six speaker Dolby Atmos surround sound system featuring a speaker in each corner and two subs in the middle, creating a sound dome that you can hear and feel. You really can hear the sound dome effect, which seems to have a passive component created by the curved screen. Just sitting in front of the monitor and talking creates a noticeable sound effect that you can hear. The sound is very impressive, with a nice range and clarity. The monitor includes a sound boost feature that makes it even more rich and booming! I love being able to easily adjust all of the screen and picture settings quickly using either of the remotes. Having the option to go from a 16:9 ratio to a 32:9 ratio, depending on the game you are playing, is really cool and can be a huge benefit when playing a strategy game where I want to see more of the map. I’ve also enjoyed playing games at 9:16 ratio with the monitor rotated to the portrait position. I couldn’t find that many games that play well in this perspective, but the few I tried, FPS, were really cool. I’ve also watched some 4K vertical film on YouTube and I was blown away! The screen clarity, brightness, contrast and color in combination with the unique perspective brought to you by the vertical film create a truly unique viewing experience. I want to find a full length vertical movie now! The monitor comes preloaded with a bunch of apps Like Xbox and Stadia apps, and app suggestions along with Samsung TV and the Samsung Gaming Hub that allows you to stream games without downloading them. I’ve never used Samsung TV until now, but it’s a collection of hundreds of free TV channels, which is a huge added bonus! The monitor does connect to most gaming remotes, that you can use for gaming and controlling the monitor. It also comes with a uniquely designed “Ark Dial” remote and a traditional Samsung TV style remote control. Both remotes are USB-C rechargeable and feature a solar panel to increase time between charging. Another wish list item checked off. I actually haven’t charged either one with the charging cable yet, just solar and that seems to be fine. The Ark Dial remote can be held but is designed to sit on a surface to be used. It does take some getting used to, but once you learn the icons/button functions, you’ll pick it up in no time. There are a ton of features on this monitor/TV. From the multi-screen option, to picture settings, all sorts of contrast, brightness, and picture adjusting AI/programs to turn on/off and so much more. Learning the features and getting this thing set up to the sweet spot you want, is going to take some time, but is well worth the effort. Not only have I been using this monitor for gaming and watching movies, I’ve also set it up to be my work monitor, since I work from home. I know what you're thinking, “he must get no work done”, but you're wrong. I actually am getting more done, being able to display my computer as five screens, one in each corner, with my task at hand in the middle. I don’t use the multi-screen when working, but it would be helpful if I had to remote connect to a separate computer at the office. The monitor comes with some great eye-saver settings, which I thought I wouldn’t use, but with the size and brightness of this screen, I decided it was a good idea. I have the eye saver set to max, which makes all the white space a pinkish hue, but it really does save my eyes and I feel less strain at the end of the day than when I was using three screens. I LOVE having this as a work monitor. The only problem is that now I never leave my home office. I can go from working to gaming to watching a 4k movie, all on one screen. LOL The spectacular screen specs of the Samsung Odyssey Ark along with the immersive sound dome technology and the ability to show multiple content sources on the display, make this the most advanced personal gaming theater ever created. The price tag is steep, so I cannot recommend it to everyone, but if you have the money to spend and want to step into a fully immersive gaming theatre experience, this is the monitor for you!

I love playing games, and as of right now I only play PC games. My setup prior to having this monitor was a 34-inch ultra-wide 2k monitor, which was an upgrade from a 2k monitor I had before. Upon finally getting this setup, as it is so massive and did not fit my desk, turning it on is like no other monitor. You have a remote and the ark dial to control it, rather than just buttons hidden somewhere on the monitor. Unlike a normal monitor, Samsung include a box and their TVOS with it. So, you can really use it as a TV if you wish. You have 4 HDMI input, which is one part I dislike as most PC’s use display port, so I wish they included at least one DP, and is one reason this is more of a TV then a monitor. Unlike a monitor when you turn this one, you need to set it up and get updates. Then after that you can use different Samsung apps without ever connecting anything to it. Some of the controls like being able to split this into multiple screens, or flip it vertically are gimmicky to me and have not used them too much in day-to-day usage. Now if we talk about this for gaming, the picture quality is insane. The colors are vibrant and the one feature I use is the ark dial to adjust the game mode and brightness based on what I am playing or doing. The audio quality is also amazing, in my past setup you needed an audio system but here I have not connected it back up. So, if you ignore all the other features this monitor does an excellent job on what you need from a monitor, which is picture quality and sound. The downside for me is its sheer size and the fact that it is not an ultra-wide but 16:9. I wish Samsung would have made this smaller and ultrawide, even if they dropped some of the gimmicks that are fun but not used day to day. If you want a huge monitor with a great picture, then this is it. I want to go back to my old smaller ultrawide but cannot because this has such a nice picture and great sound. If you also own a PlayStation or Xbox, with the HDMI inputs this will be an amazing screen to use too. And if you want a TV on top of a PC monitor, this is also a great option. But if you’re looking for a PC screen or don’t have a graphics card that supports HDMI 2.1 (which only the newest ones do), there are better options out there.
