I got my sound bar on a Deal of the Day for $99.00 and took a punt. The reviews are mixed but for the price I was prepared to gamble a little. The box arrived very quickly, 3 days I think. Well packaged and like new condition. The speakers include an optical sound cable. Reading the manual, it took me about 30 minutes to get it all hooked up and going. Yes, the manual clearly says, "Turn Off" the main sound bar to sync wireless the base unit. After that, don't forget to set your TV to external speakers, and be aware that there are two possible mutes! Three in my case as the cable box has a mute too. When I first turned on the TV no sound! Uggg I thought, a dud. I then realized that I had the tv mute, still no sound, ugg it really is a dud. The I hit the mute button a couple of times on the sound bar remote (that also is Samsung, like my tv, so operates the tv as well) and suddenly there was sound. Wonderful bright, full range with deep base sound. So I'm not sure what I hit on the remote, but it all works wonderfully. The sound is rich and amazingly very surround sound like. A couple of times I've been standing in the lounge and turned around to check who was behind me, only to realize it was the sound from the speakers. Base is deep and reasonable. It may not be hifi quality but for movies and gaming it's perfectly acceptable. Listening to radio through cable the high and midrange is very nice. My wife walked in and said right away that the sound was remarkably. I've not connected a mp player yet but I suspect it will be equally rewarding. There are 4 preprogrammed sound setting and a "news" setting that basically turns off the base speaker, which is nice when you want to listen to voice level sound without the heavy base. Movie mode is excellent, nice deep sound on the base, without overpowering the midrange and high frequency sound. So it seems that if you get one that's good out of the box, and I suspect some of the troubles people are having may relate to setup and setting, not equipment failure, you should be very pleased with this unit.

    Great Value

Not sure what problems people are having setting it up but... I set mine up in about 5 minutes. Plug in the supplied optical cable to my bluray player, sync up the subwoofer per the instructions, listening to pandora streaming over my bluray player in no time (movie sounds great too). I have a reasonable size living room with wood floors and the system fills the room fully. Plenty of bass, nice clear detail from the soundbar. No problems with wireless internet connection, product has no blemishes, remote works fine. Plenty of volume and totally worth the price. Probably not worth full price at this point but as long as it continues to work properly it is worth it at the refurb price. Could use another optical/digital input. For a simple system that is a drastic upgrade over built-in TV speakers this is well worth it.

I bought this even though there were some negative reviews. I am not a huge 'A/V nerd' so I thought this would be a good enough improvement over the little TV speakers. The sound was very good. However soon after I could not get on the internet. Like most of the other reviews, this sub-woofer DOES interfere with wifi for certain routers. I called Samsung and they confirmed this. The sub works on 2.4 ghz, as does my router. My options are to upgrade (or downgrade) my router or change the settings of my router to a different frequency. Samsung said the frequency of the sub is fixed at 2.4 ghz. Also, there a only 2 inputs. 1 optical (which is ok) and 1 mini audio jack for an ipod. I was hoping for more inputs. It's not worth the hassle. I will take it back and get a different one.

    Hard to Install, Looks Great

This sound bar was much harder to install than previous sounds bars that I have had by other manufacturers. I finally figured it out. The sound is good and it looks great with my TV. I think I will pay more in the future to avoid these issues in the future. I love the wireless sub-woofer feature.

    Just Right

In early January, I was in Best Buy helping my Dad buy a Plasma TV. I picked out the TV (open box) and Blu Ray. As we were waiting for the associate to find all of the accessories for the TV, I heard this system playing an animated movie. Can't remember what movie but it had a lot of action, yeilding lots of sound effects. I had never imagined bass and highs like that coming from this unit. I am an audiophile; I never considered a sound bar. I wanted the 7 speakers and a big subwoofer. I have to be practical though, I don't have a lot of space for that though nor the dollars (receiver, speakers and sub). To say the least, this unit impressed me and the fact that it doesn't take up that much space vice 7 speakers and a sub. I was figuring if it could fill Best Buy with full sound, it would blow my little 16x16 living room away; and it did. My wife who doesn't really care about stuff like that was impressed; she is the movie watcher so I know she will have it cranked up. It plays music very well also. I found that when you use the "pass" function (takes the equalizer off to hear sounds originally from source) the sound is better. I wish there was a way to turn the sub off, for watching TV at night. Maybe there is; I am still playing with it. Overall, out the box, I would say it is a very good cost-effective substitute for a huge home theatre system. I am going to get one for our bedroom too. Wish I would have brought it back in January now I have to settle for a refurbished one from a reputable electronics store.

    Excellent system, works great!

I bought this system even though other reviews were negative because its was such a good deal. I figured if it didnt work I would just return or exchange it. It arrived in great condition for a refurbished unit, no scratches or dents. Connected it up to my 55" Samsung LED with no trouble and it works great. Its a huge improvement compared to the TV speakers. Sounds even better when we play a Blu-ray. The sub has good bass and sync's up automatically. I can put it on the other side of the room with no problems. My Wi-Fi signal still works fine in the room. Overall this is a great system and excellent value.

    Not loud enough

Should have listen to the reviews that said this device lacks sound. It actually sounds great when playing Pandora off of the Samsung Blu-Ray, (it gets really loud) but when you try to play a movie or even watch tv, you have to turn it all the way up to kind of fill the room. My wife and I were able to have a normal conversation even with the volume maxed out watching Transformers 3. I'm returning it tomorrow and getting a complete home theater set this time. Stay away from any sound bar if your trying to get loud playback.

    Doesn't sync very well

Sound is OK but the sync is always off with my LG 47 inch. Sync only goes at 10 ms increments which is too much. Need probably a 3-5 ms delay. Sometimes the sound cuts out too requiring me to switch channels on the tv in order to get sound back. Real pain.

    Disconnects Your WiFi Connection

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Don't buy this product if you intend to use it in the same area that you connect wirelessly to the internet. After setting this up, I noticed that it kicks me off my wireless internet connection. Apparently the wireless subwoofer uses the same 2.4 GH frequency band and somehow it interferes with the router. I have made multiple changes to my router settings to no avail. The most frustrating thing is that Samsung denies ever hearing of this as a problem, despite numerous postings that I found on various support sites on the internet that also complain about Samsung denying this as a reported problem. There is obviously a reason they have so many of these returned units to sell as refurbished. They're about to get one more to sell, because I'm returning this pronto. Having been a loyal Samsung customer for years, I am now VERY dissappointed with them, and their apparent dishonesty.

    UGH! Buyer beware

I bought one, it worked for 1day and then the main bar failed while the sub still worked. I figured since it was refurbished I would try again. Returned this one and then bought another. Right out of the box the main bar worked but the sub never linked. Thought I would give Samsung a try to help me fix it. Chat was up first. Gave them my model number and explained what the issue was. They asked me to go to the menu on the tv and do a sound test. Explained to them that this was a sound bar and does not have a display. Strike one. Then called them on the phone. After reaching them, it was determined to be bad and needed service. They informed me that it was not under warranty even though I told them I had just bought it 3 days ago. Strike 2. They informed me that they would service it under courtesy to the customer (how nice). Informed me that it would need to be sent in for repair. Not knowing how long it would take, I asked if I could just have a new base module sent out. I did not want to go outside the window to return to Best Buy. I told them I would supply a credit card but they said no! Steeeeerike 3. Returned it to Best Buy. The only good part of this was Brittany at the Best Buy in Brighton. She kept me a Best Buy customer. Ended up buying the Vizio sound bar at Walmart! Excellent choice and only $98. I guess things happen for a reason!

Would not power up so not much of a review

Purchased because I want to upgrade sound on my new ultra-thin LED LCD. The price was right, and the unit looked fine (no noticeable flaws or scratches) but the unit would not power up. When I plugged it in (after, of course hooking up the optical cable) the volume lights would go up (from 1 to all) and then settle at 3 lights; the "standby" light would come on while the volume lights were active, then the "standby" light went off. No attempts to power on via remote or button on the bar would work, and the sync would time out (I assume because the main unit didn't stay active). On the up-side, put it back in the box and took back to the store, no problem. I think I'll order another on the assumption I just got a bummer. Recommending = yes, only because I'm going to give it another go, and I do like myself ;)

    Busted Christmas

I bought the sound bar as a Christmas present for my husband and it broke right of the box. So excited Christmas morning, he opened it, got it hooked up, and it popped the first time it came on. I returned the unit to the Best Buy store the day after and bought a totally different brand to replace it and went with new. The quality was beyond disappointing. New or refurbished, I would not recommend it.

I was ever able to power the unit on and had to return it to the store. I wish they will do a better job making sure the products are indeed working before trying to sell it again... This is the first and the for sure the last refurbished product for me...

Received as a Christmas gift from my wife. Very excited to finally have some good sounds in the living room. Hooked it all up and sounded great for about 3 minutes, then it popped and shut down. After that all it would do is light up with two lights where the volume was but nothing, no sound, no other lights, nothing. VERY disappointed! Wish my wife had seen other reviews of this product before purchasing.

A GOOD BUY AND WORTH THE $$$$$

I recently purchased this product and I at I had some reservations based on the reviews on here. I must say that I am pleased with the Samsung Sound Bar. Set up is easy if you can read. The sound quality from the optical-in is great and the sound is great in DTS or Dobly Digital. The look is sleek and very modern. The only thing that I’m not happy with is the sound when I connect my iPhone in the audio in jack. It’s not as loud as I would want it to be, but it’s still good. I found nothing wrong with this refurbished unit.

    Excelent! For five days....

It worked pretty well for five days. Nice design, powerful sound, ideal for someone like me who don't want to install several speakers through the living room. However, after the 5th day, the sound starting failing and after performing the tests with the Samsung customer service in the line, it simply went mute. The best for me was customer service: "take the cable to a friend's house to check whether the problem is a defective cable or if the problem is in the unit." Refurbished: never again. I'm returning this one...

Thought i was getting a great value with refurbished unit. If only it were true that the factory technicians check and re-check the units. apparently they forgot to check mine at all since I took it out of the box, hooked it up and it wouldn't even turn on. What a disappointment......Not completely turned off to refurbished units but definitely will not buy this brand again. Did I mention it didn't even turn on!!!!!!! JUNK
