Great initial impression

We purchased this TV (UN39EH5003FXZA) for Christmas after much research. The picture and remote interface was outstanding for the price. Unfortunately, after about 30 days, there was an occasional pixelation of the screen during video games. This wasn't the large freezing pixels related to poor signal reception, but tiny multicolored pixels that would slowly sweep the screen. These events were only a few seconds in length, didn't affect the game, and were attributed to the xbox connection. We discovered this not to be the case a few weeks later when upon turning on the TV the entire screen was tiny multicolored pixels that would slowly move and change colors. The remote was active (on/off only, and the TV's red light blinked when other buttons were pushed#, but nothing could be distinguished on the screen, so the TV was inoperable. Removing all inputs and changing the powestrip did not help. However, a few hours later, the TV was back to its impressive self. This continued a few days, when the lack of a TV for hours on end was not acceptable. Upon bringing it to Best Buy #who were very helpful#, our options were to send it to Samsung for two weeks for servicing, or to exchange it for a different model. It turns out our model was a Christmas-only version supplied by Samsung and wasn't carried in the store anymore. We did not feel comfortable with a repair for a set that wasn't manufactured anymore, so we ended up exchanging it for an equivalent Insignia at the same price #which unfortunately wasn't on sale, but does operate at 120Hz#. We are very happy with the Insignia to date. It does not have the snazzy interface like the Samsung's, but it is functionally and pictorially identical to our eyes. We have no angst directed toward Samsung #our other four-year-old set is Samsung), but we are bummed that our set seemed to have a rare chip/software glitch.

For the cost of this HDTV I got a picture that looks better than the Pioneer KURO I was so snobbish about for the past 5 years. After getting this out of the box, I was very surprised ay how light it is. The design of this TV makes it look exactly like a 39" computer monitor, but don't be scared off by that. The picture is incredible. We put it on Braveheart, then Pixar Cars, then TRON Legacy, then some documentary on the Nature channel and everything we looked at was so spectacular I was even in awe over a lipstick commercial... the reds are unbelievable. To think this TV is at this price and it's a Samsung, that's all I needed to know before purchasing it, and I was not disappointed. Also, people are complaining in the reviews about no audio out. For this price, I can't complain about anything. I have the TV connected through HDMI and have the audio coming from the separate audio outs on the cable box to the receiver.

Best value for a 39" TV

I typically don't buy electronics online, but after shopping at my local Best Buy and leaving without having found what I wanted, I decided I had nothing to lose and did a little research online. I came across this gem and it is exactly what I was looking! All I wanted was a display bigger than 32" (40" being the cap) and the price to be no more than $300ish dollars. At first I was hesitant to make the purchase, since it's a refurbished model and all, but given the fact that I have a few other Samsung TV's at home and know that they're of great quality, I went ahead and ordered it.
A day and a few hours later, I'm at my local Best Buy picking it up! My TV was shipped in a standard-brown cardboard box, not a fancy Samsung box. No big deal, I toss the boxes anyways. Upon unboxing, I was expecting this TV to be scuffed/dirty since it's a refurbished model, but it arrived prestine! I was also expecting it to be on the heavier side, but it is surprisingly light! Installing the stand was cake, just a few screws and you're done. After connecting everything and running the cable scan, all that I said was "AWESOME!" The picture quality is great, but it does take some tweaking with the settings to get it just right. The sound is really good, too!
All in all, if you're looking for an inexpensive 39" TV that offers full 1080p resolution, look no further because this is a GREAT option!

I ordered this unit and was pretty excited. I had it shipped to our local store because I was afraid our UPS/FedEx guy would accidentally break the unit. I picked up the TV at the store no issues. Brought the unit home and unboxed it. I then noticed a slight crack in the bezel of the TV and I noticed the upper left hand corner had bubbles on the screen. I plugged in the TV and the screen was completely spider webbed. Obviously it was damaged in shipping to the store. I ended up getting my money back at the store but now I can't re-order the TV because its sold out.
