Seems ok but I went with a professional alarm

I opted for a wired professionally installed alarm that I keep off of my network so that nobody can access it if they use one of the smart home devices I have to get access to the network. I also keep my security cameras on a wired network that are offline so that it is almost impossible to access from my network. I used to work at HP and many experts recommended keeping these things off of the network or to have a network that is not connected to the internet.

Great alarm and Smartthings support, but ...

Great alarm and Smartthings support, but missing some key features. For example, Smartthings can't tell the status of the alarm, so building an automation to turn off all the lights, lock the door AND arm the system isn't possible. Other brands offer this capability so I'm hoping Samsung and ADT will some day.

Amazing Security System for SmartHome newbies

I was a little skeptical of the smart hub when I first saw it, because I have had ADT before, and didn't work out. But I've been playing with this hub for the past two days, and I love it! The fact that I'm able to control my home with my phone is incredible, and it discovers and works with my WeMO outlets as well. Even the ADT monitoring isn't bad, they give you a free first month, and they are spot on with it. For the first week, your home is in test mode so that your hub recognizes your normal routine, and after that, ADT monitoring is enabled. I got a call from ADT while my hub was disarmed asking if was okay because my door kept opening and closing (moving in), and that alone made me more comfortable with knowing that in case of a real emergency, I know ADT is gonna respond in time.

    Not a convenient security system

Not a convenient security system to setup and link devices. Not only it is costly, there is no service available to do professional monitoring and it is self monitoring. Moreover it needs additional spending to get the other accessories needed it to work as need.

I do not review often (although I should) but I have nothing good to say about this product. I am pretty tech-savy and already have my house running under a Smartthings hub. Firstly, as you may have read, if you have an existing ST hub, you will not be able to migrate your devices over to this. This is a minor annoyance but I decided to split my house into a security side (ADT hub) and automation side (ST hub). All devices recognized perfectly including 2 more door sensors, smoke detector, CO detector and water leak sensor. I activated the ADT service without issue however when I go to test the system through the app, it hangs and "Registering for Cellular Service". After speaking with ADT and Samsung multiple times, they state this was a "bug" but neither side would take ownership over it. This "bug" has continued for over a month now and after speaking with Samsung again last week, they stated it has resolved although some units are still affected. I went back to Best Buy and bought a second unit and after going through the steps, the new unit still hangs at "Registering for Cellular Service". Thus, I have given up. I really wanted to make this work. I even tried swapping the radios between the two units, power cycling multiple times and no dice. The device is useless without remote monitoring with ADT. The biggest problem is when there is a problem, neither Samsung or ADT will take ownership of the device. If you call Samsung first, they tell you to call ADT. If you call ADT, the majority of the reps aren't familiar with the device and takes multiple transfers to get to talk to someone who has at least heard about the device. I think Samsung released this product too soon without proper support of this item. If I wasn't using the ST hub for all my automation devices, I'd probably never buy Samsung again.

Don't get this unless your willing to get a ADT subscription. Costly to buy and operate compared to most things on the market today.

This kit needs a software update. The current time on the Hub would not correspond with my location on smart things app or other devices despite following troubleshooting guides. Did not work with my other Smart Things hub on classic app. Was unable to connect one of the sensors despite following trouble shooting guide as well. Would not recommend, this unfortunately is the first Samsung product to give me problems.

    - Great DIY security system - ADT monitoring is not required, but I highly recommend it - setting up the system and all the sensors took a few hours which isn't bad - works with other smartthings compatible devices

We love anything samsung. We originally had ADT come out and install a whole security kit...we chose this route instead...glad we did. Works as it should. Shows the weather which I love.
