I love my SmartThingds ADT Home Security kit! It comes with everything I need to protect my home and family. I’m a single mom so protecting my home is extremely important and this kit makes monitoring my home easy. I love the door and window detectors and the Security Hub is a big 7 inch touchscreen control panel that has a built in siren and also includes dual encryption wireless technology and it’s super user-friendly and easy to hook up my oldest daughter and I had everything installed and ready to go in about an hour. It’s worked great I have no complaints and think everyone should have one in their home.

    Fairly Easy To Install Yourself

The Samsung - SmartThings ADT Home Security Starter Kit was fairly easy to install. I will say that it is very important to follow the instructions in the included guide before you attempt to guess at how it goes. The one thing I didn't find very clear was the need to scan the code on your sensors, then remove the tab in the sensors to pair. (My original understanding had been to scan and let it pair, then remove the tab.) I also struggled a little bit to figure out the sensor installation based on trim work on my doors. Other than those two issues, (which were very minor) everything else was a piece of cake! I've tested everything I installed and it all seems to be working just as it should. Overall pleased with the kit!

    Awesome system!

This is crash and smash protected, built in cellular antenna, color, touchscreen home security system with SmartThings capabilities. Since we had not spend any $$ on home security or smart home features this was the way to go. 4 stars in place of 5 is because even when you set "arm away" using the hub, it shows "armed stay" in the app. One has to disarm and change to "arm away" mode using the app again. Otherwise we are very happy with this system

After a lengthy chat discussion with SmartThings I found out that the ADT portion and the SmartThings portion can NOT talk to each other. So the idea that the alarm will "turn on your lights" and such is not true. The ADT portion is limited to ONLY the devices sold for the ADT and the SmartThings devices will ONLY work for SmartThings. This is a REAL SUPER disappointment. I really wanted to love this system, simple, easy and it handled all my Smart Home stuff. Oh well..back to the store it goes.

    Great DIY Alarm Starter Kit

This is a great DIY Alarm system. Installation was very easy and very straightforward. Once youdownload the app to your phone, you can check the system status from anywhere, which comes in handy if you are traveling. The motion sensors are very responsive and accurate. The alarm is very loud and can be heard from outside the house. The door detectors are especially helpful for our family as my father in law has dementia and the door detectors will chime to alert us if any doors have been opened. You can also opt-in to pay for the professional monitoring service

Biggest problem: Erroneous alarms. I have ADT's monitoring service add-on for this system ($35/month) and 2 months after installing it, I got a bunch of phone calls from ADT monitoring one day. They said all of the sensors (!?!) had been tripped and wanted to dispatch police. I checked my surveillance camera and didn't see anything unusual so opted to cancel the alarm, which kept going off and calling them all day. When I got home, I saw nothing suspicious and the control panel's alarm history didn't even log any problem or alarm condition. Software is clearly defective. Doesn't even show the correct time despite being wifi connected. Seriously?! Just replaced my hub unit today with a new one SmartThings sent, and setup was just as difficult as the first time. Devices/sensors are hard to pair. You'll find yourself following the setup steps exactly, multiple times, and resetting sensors a few times before they pair successfully. Keychain remote never pairs. Samsung support is also not 7 days a week and has limited hours, so if you live in PST you will have a hard time ever getting to talk to them unless you are at home during the day and not at work. Wish I never bothered with this thing and bought a different system.

    Needs better software

This kit needs a software update. The current time on the Hub would not correspond with my location on smart things app or other devices despite following troubleshooting guides. Did not work with my other Smart Things hub on classic app. Was unable to connect one of the sensors despite following trouble shooting guide as well. Would not recommend, this unfortunately is the first Samsung product to give me problems.

warning: no support from Samsung nor ADT

Updated ADT SmartThings panel firmware has issue connecting to Internet through ANY home wifi router. A new panel will connect to a wifi access point but won't pass traffic to the Internet. The panel can't be registered online. Samsung techs aren't trained on the ADT panel and can't support; they simply say they're not familiar with the ADT panel and then point you to ADT. ADT won't support you if you don't have a monthly service plan with them. A very bad experience, this offering isn't integrated and simply was not yet ready to take to market.

    JUNK!

This would not connect with ADT using cellular. After being transferred back and forth from Samsung to ADT found out that my account was showing active on my device but was inactive in their system. This of course did not solve the problem but once the account was active I was getting calls, some of which went to call waiting for alerts received by ADT. The system wasn't even armed. One rep got nasty when I said it wan't armed why did she call. STAY FAR AWAY from this. I'm thinking I can't even take it back since it is an activated device and you only have 14 days to return. I got the whole package so I'm out $700.00. Got the Nest system and it was up and running no problems in less than 2 hours.

Easy Setup & Easy to Use

The SmartThings ADT Home Security Starter Kit is incredibly easy to use even though it is full of features. Setup was a breeze and can easily be installed with the setup guide included. I love that I can automate my home with SmartThings mobile app while also monitoring and managing my system. I love that my family can enjoy 24/7 peace of mind with the ADT professional monitoring service. One of my favorite things about the security system is the wireless design. Who wants wires these days? Not this gal!

I'm happy to have s an easy way to help make my home secure as well as smart. The touchscreen control panel makes it easy to monitor the system and attached smarthome products. Being able to integrate so many different devices is a big plus!

This security system was so easy to install and set up. I was able to do it on my own, not even help from my husband! Since we are moving, I am loving the idea that we are able to take it with us. What an amazing deal!

I'm not too tech savvy, so I had some issues, the good news is the support from Smart Things was awesome. If you're having trouble, try their chat support from their website. They will walk you through all issues. Great system.

    Awful setup, poor interface

Bought this system as a deterrent for anyone looking to snoop in my firearms safe. I spent close to a hour and a half fiddling with my phone scanning QR codes for the sensors only to continuously get error codes and/or the device (motion sensor or window sensor). Other thing that irritated me was that there was no way to correct the time on the hub, despite correctly entering my location on the Smart Things app.
