Must buy geek squad protection. 1/2 of these are defective. They will work initially. Then they deplete new batteries within 1 day forever more.

Ties in great with my home automation

I got tired of relying on my home camera's system relying on GEO location from my phone to enable and disable the motion sensors from triggering when I was home. It was very inconsistent. The Samsung SmartHome hub was 50% off so I bought one and a couple of the arrival sensors. I tied it into my Google Home and camera system. I have it setup to enable the cameras when all the sensors leave and disable when anyone of the arrive. This worked so well that I have other automations setup around the house based the individual sensor. Nice little side feature is we all keep them on our keyrings and if we misplace them, you can use the app to initiate a ring to find them.

The battery life is not very good. Since I leave it in the car all the time, it was easy to replace the coin type battery with an external 3 volt battery with leads, soldered to the battery terminals. To do this I purchased a CR 123 battery and battery holder from Amazon. Soldered two 26 gauge wires to the battery holder and battery terminals of the Arrival sensor. Put a small notch in the side of the sensor for the wires to pass through. Attached the battery holder to the sensor with Velcro. I now expect the battery to last more than a year

Works as described, I use it to arm and disarm my alarm system if I am home or not as well as turn on some lights depending on the time of day. I use the Samsung Smartthings hub with the iPhone app.

    Works as intended

Works well as intended. It doesn't seem to pair up like other Things (such as Hue, GE Link, Cree light bulbs). Not certain if I have a faulty one but after a few tries by manually adding it, it seems to have worked and detected my presence. I use it to trigger the outdoor lights when my wife comes home late at night with the kids. Eventually, I may set it to unlock a deadbolt so that we can come in hands free. With two infants and/or carry shopping bags, it can be a hassle to try to find the keys and the to try and unlock the door. Would recommend to a friend if they have a need for it. Surely works better than trying to use your mobile phone, which drains your battery.

Unit came with a battery that only had 40% charge left, we ended having to replace the battery after 3 months of use. Other than that everything has been good. The unit was easy to add to the Smartthings hub.

It works but not without modification. It is a real battery hog. Im using it with Hubitat and the batteries last about 4 weeks. I did a mod I found on the web where I power it with a pair of AAA batteries. That raises both the reliability and battery life. I'm at about 4 months with the battery mod and they still show fully charged. I'd give it 3 stars just because of the battery thing but I bumped it up to 4 because I knew that would happen from reading the forums.

The present sensor works flawlessly. With this sensor I've configured my home to automatically lock and unlock the front door when somebody arrives or leaves the house. In addition to locking/unlocking the front door, the lights are configured to shut off when everyone leaves. I also have a SmartThings outlet that acts as a Zigbee repeater located near the front of my house. That way the presence sensor detects an arrival when pulling into the driveway in front of the house.

I love the convenience of coming home and all my routines executes without me lifting a finger; or coming home to a dark house. If you don't want to use your phone as the main trigger for your routines, then this sensor is for you.

It does what I want but...

I does what I want but the battery life is not the best. I have several battery devices on my Smartthings system that have been in operation for over a year and the battery is still well above 50% a few above 75%. The arrival sensor goes though batteries. I wanted to open the garage door when my wife gets home but I didn't want to tie it to her phone because sometimes we go out in my car and I don't want the garage door to open when we get back. I was worried that if the battery gets low and cold the arrival sensor might drop out and then come on and open the garage when we are not home. I set it to text me when it opens the garage door so I could close it if necessary. So far it has not happened. If the battery was better I would give it 5 stars.

I wanted to use this for someone that has access to my house but doesn't visit often, unfortunately the batteries died after about a month maybe because they were not usually within range of the hub. Still I stopped using it since I don't want to constantly replace batteries.

The battery drains to fast and it always disconnects from my hub. As Samsung works on their cloud, the connection problems are getting better but it still dies to quickly.

I am quite very satisfied with it. You will definitely need several zigbee repeaters closer to the entrance of your home to make it work effectively.

These are Zigbee, so you need a hub that supports it. Both Hubitat and SmartThings hubs do support Z Wave and Zigbee, so you're set. What these things do is attempt to connect to your hub every few seconds (20 seconds, I think). If the connection is made, the sensor shows "present" status, otherwise it shows "away" status. The point of having one is to be able to add home/away triggers for your home automation.' I think you can make a sound from these, so you can find your keys. I put one in my car, just so I can try it out. It's been in the car 3 days and the battery went from 100% to 37% that fast. If you have to change batteries every few days, it's too much of a hassle. It does do what it is supposed to do. If I drive my car just a little ways from home, the sensor triggers in Hubitat as "away." When I get home, it triggers as "present." When I pulled in the driveway, it did take quite a while (a minute?) for it to recognize the present state. I mentioned SmartThings and Hubitat. I had the SmartThings Hub first. When I got the Hubitat, I moved all my devices to it. I couldn't be happier.

I bought this because I have one on my keychain and I needed one for the wife. The one that I have on my keyring has a chip that is obviously made from a different company. I have never had an issue with mine but the wife's is really spotty and most of the time does not work. I wish I could find another one like mine. It picks me up from my neighborhood mailbox which is quite far and this one won't even pick up my wife in the driveway.

I purchased this to add to my existing Hubitat Elevation system. It paired perfectly and haven't had any issues. I was going to use it as a presence sensor to open and close my garage door, but the polling is too slow. This may be a limitation of Hubitat. It is MUCH smaller than I expected, which is really nice.
