This thing looks and feels like it could survive the apocalypse. The soft, rubbery shell isn’t just for looks — it gives you that “I can drop it and it’ll be fine” confidence. Samsung says it can handle a 3-meter drop and shrug off dust and water (IP65), and honestly, I believe them. I’ve already tossed it into my backpack with keys and a water bottle — no scratches, no drama. Performance? Blazing. We’re talking around 1,050 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write speeds. Big video files? Massive photo dumps? Whole game libraries? Done in minutes. After years of waiting on slow external drives, this feels like cheating. It doesn’t get uncomfortably hot, even after moving gigabytes of data, and it plays nice with everything I’ve thrown at it — my laptop, my phone, even my PlayStation. Zero setup, zero stress. Verdict: If you want something small, ridiculously fast, and tough enough to take on the road (or survive your desk coffee disasters), the T7 Shield is worth every penny.

It's very reliable, very fast, compact, sturdy. I keep it in my bookbag all the time because its tough and has enough space to hold everything I need when I'm on the go. i like thats its pwetty and blue too :3

I recently purchased the Samsung T7 Shield 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Rugged SSD and I am extremely impressed with its performance and durability. Not only is it waterproof with an IP65 rating, but it also boasts incredibly fast data transfer speeds. The rugged design gives me peace of mind knowing that my data is protected even in tough conditions. Overall, I highly recommend the Samsung T7 Shield for anyone in need of a durable and reliable external storage solution.

The Samsung SSD T7 is a compact, high-speed external solid-state drive ideal for professionals and everyday users alike. With read/write speeds up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s and a sleek design, it offers both performance and portability. It supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 and works seamlessly with PCs, Macs, and even smartphones. Built-in AES 256-bit encryption and optional password protection enhance security, while the shock-resistant build adds durability. Though it can get slightly warm under heavy use, it's one of the best portable SSDs in its class for speed, reliability, and value. I have been using it for last 2 years, so far so good!

This drive is excellent for travel storage. It is very small - only a few times larger than a jump drive. It is very rugged, and well protected from the elements - making it great for the outdoors. I have the 1TB model, which comes already formatted as exFAT and ready for use for both Android and Windows. I am using it to store a lot of movies in mp4 ranging in size from 3GB to 30GB. I uploaded them through a USB 3.0 port on my tower. The speed is good, as can be seen in the test results below. The drive did get warm while putting almost 900GB onto the drive, but never exceeded 45deg C. It did this big job without a hitch!

Extremely fast transfer speeds, rugged build, and compact design. Works flawlessly on both Mac and Windows. Great portable SSD.

Big storage for a small device this drive is very fast reliable and secure I have a peace of mind knowing I can keep my data that is stored safe and it is my go to storage device as for I’m a photographer and content marketer also it allows me to plug up to any computer to share data without having to physically bring my laptop everywhere

Was using this to expand my steam library on my laptop; when comparing this to the external HDD I was using before this external SSD had crazy fast download speeds and I experienced no problems gaming from the games stored on this. It’s pretty small so it’s very portable and it comes with two separate cables for connecting, the usb-c to usb-c cable is the one I use and it’s very durable.

I bought this to save video for my Tesla and it works great. I and able to save a lot more than what the car came with.

[Employee of bestbuy] Reliable and fast is what you can expect from Samsung’s best external SSD. With an easy to setup installer, beautiful matte finish, and quick transfer speeds, the T7 shield leaves nothing to be desired for a portable storage unit. Used with a windows 11 desktop, no issues or compatibility errors as of 90 days from when I got it.

Just love this Drive everything about it is just great, the size and the speed also that its Rugged and water resistant gives me a peace of mind since I'm always working in places where most of my gear are expose to the elements.

I picked up this Samsung portable SSD to pair with my MacBook Pro for handling large media projects, and it has instantly become one of the most important tools in my workflow. The speed on this drive is no joke transferring 4K footage, photos, project files, and backups feels almost instant. There’s no lag, no delays, and no hiccups when dragging huge folders over. Editing directly off the drive is smooth and stable, which is a massive help when working on tight deadlines or handling multiple client projects at once. The ribbed, shock-resistant design is a bonus. It feels durable, secure, and ready for travel, which is perfect for on-site shoots or switching between home, studio, and client locations. Despite being compact, it holds a ton of data and stays cool even during long transfers. If you’re a photographer, videographer, drone operator, or anyone dealing with large media files, this SSD is absolutely worth the investment. Fast, sturdy, and dependable exactly what you need for a streamlined and professional editing workflow. Highly recommended.

If you’re looking for an external SSD I highly suggest trying the T7! I’ve been using the T7 for the past month for gaming, streaming, and music producing and I couldn’t be happier with it. I have a MSI GL66 laptop which sadly only has 500GB of storage — and if you’re into gaming you know that it isn’t a lot lol — I was suggested by a friend the Samsung T5 but when looking it up it was $250. I saw the T7 in the suggested and decided to try it out because it was only $80 and had good reviews. And like I said, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It’s fast, high quality, shield protected, and cheaper than most other options. So if you’re looking for an external SSD I highly suggest trying it out!

Purchased as a spare. Have been using this exact model for quite some time. Greatly speeds up my work. Much more reliable than the older mechanical drives. Only issue that I have came across is when replacing the USBC to A adapter that you need to make sure the arrows line up if not then you will be taking the adapter off and flipping it 180 degrees.

This is a fantastic product! I was skeptical at first but found that 1 TB is more than what I needed for what I do! As a music producer I wanted to limit the amount of vsts and plugins I put natively on my MacBook and this has saved at least 100GB of storage on my computer. The best part about it is that you can encrypt it. This requires that you install the software that works wonderfully on MacOS. It’s definitely a greater sense of peace felt knowing that if it’s stolen the only way to access the information is by entering a password or taking it out by dismantling the product and bypassing encryption(I doubt anyone would go through this unless you’re the president)! Overall a great product and well worth the price as SSD is safer than HDD. I definitely wish I was able to get 2TB for future use but I doubt I’ll need it anytime soon! If you’re looking for a small yet affordable ssd this is definitely a great purchase and an overall great investment! If you are clumsy like me definitely check out the T7 shield! An added bonus is that the product comes with usb c and a cords! My only problem was trying to figure out how to properly install the software but after checking Samsung’s website it was made more clear than the instructions that come in box! If you’re not used to installing 3rd party software on MacOS there are plenty of YouTube videos entailing how!

Absolutely love this storage. Its easy and fast to move videos and pics from my phone to my Ipad pro. The speed is so so fast and this is such a light weight item. I definitely will buy another when i need it. I've erased and used so many times to make videos and YouTube stuff. O definitely recommend it. Its hardcore because of the case its in if it were to fall.

This device is so easy to use, love that it can connect to USB-C, and has easy to grip coating. Has more than enough storage to back up my entire computer.

Nice quality External SSD. I use it for storing SLR's camera shot. The images and videos transfer over very quickly since this is an Solid State Drive rather than simply a hard disk drive. The over all build quality is great, its water restistant which is a major plus, and it has a rugged smooth feel to it. It hooks up very easily with an Apple computer since it has a USB to USB connection. I really could ask for anything more. I havent had any issues with the product and I will update this review if i do. My overall grade for the product and deal = A

This is the best external hard drive. I use it for holding raw images for storage and it's a powerhouse external hard drive.

The Samsung T& external drive is an excellent product. I have used it to back up computers, load photos and data. It is fast and very easy to use. Highly recommended.
