I don't know why Samsung decided to remove 3D support for the newer models. My 4K tv was bought in 2013 when the hype was just starting. Honestly, I really don't see the big deal between the 4K disc and the standard bluray using my 4K tv and this 4k player. Small tip. Maybe you can get the guys at bestbuy to pop in the standard bluray version versus the 4K version to see if it's really worth dishing out the extra money.
