This player was easy to setup and a excellent unit.

This player is going for about $200 and at that price, it's a steal. The Panasonic is going for several hundred dollars and Oppo and Sony have not released their players yet. Since this is a first gen player, you can expect some design quirks and there are some. For some reason, the Samsung uses 4:4:4 color mode which requires 18Gbps bandwidth. This means that in most cases, you will have to upgrade your HDMI cables. 95% of HDMI cables cannot handle full bandwidth UHD signals, even those that are "certified". Once you do get the system up and running, UHD does make the image more detailed, even on a 50" screen. But it is the HDR that makes the most impact in viewing UHD movies. Colors pop and you get brighter whites and darker blacks. The only issue is that a lot of 2014-2105 UHD color displays are not designed for HDR so you will only get the added detail.

This was the only true 4k player out at the time and best buy gave me a good price buying it with a LG OLEDG6P tv. Good player. There are some handshake issues with the Samsung and LG. Good HDMI cables are a must. 1080 3D pictures are just awesome as are 4k, of course.

It does enhance the pic qualities. Now, I can rent DVD’ than bluray disc’ at Redbox (though there’s a difference in the pic quality, it still suits my wants) and save or at least try to ;) I have a good sound system and a 4k tv. Movie steaming is great! Bought it on sale! Great savings for a useful piece!

The Samsung 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player has been a welcome addition to our home. We have not started to watch new 4K Ultra discs yet, however, we have used the other functionalities of the product, including using WiFi for watching shows on the internet.

Excellent styling with the Ultra 4K HDR TV. Reverse compatible with all media and the upscaling from 1080p to 4K is impressive!

With this Blu-ray player I'm able to get an excellent picture on my new Curve 4k T.V. It gives the picture so much definition that you would think you are right there. This layer is a must with any T.V as it is better then just a plain Blu-Ray Player.

One of the only options out there if you want to play back 4K discs. No issues with the player so far. Working as expected.

I got this Samsung 4K UHD Blu Ray player connected to my Samsung 4K UHDtv CURVE. The picture quality is awesome in 4k and 1080p Blu Ray! Also looks amazing together! But after the first year, it wouldn't play certain 1080p Blu ray discs anymore. The disk would freeze on the load icon..?! These certain movies played when i first bought the player... and just to make sure that it wasn't the discs, i tried them out on another Blu ray player and they played the movies no problem.! When I purchased it, I read the few reviews it had due to it being new on the market in the U.S. and they were great reviews! After further review (a year later when the issues started), i noticed that other people are having the same issue! Really odd, it plays 4k discs and DVD's no problem but only certain Blu rays... Very frustrating! I paid $400 brand new just so i could watch 4k movies (which there are very few 4k movies out that i actually like, or are WORTHY of 4k quality!). So in my opinion, it's wasn't worth it. If i had rated this when i first purchased the player i would've given it 5 stars!

This is the best blu-ray player ever ... Picture it's unbelievable

It works so far. Nothing to complain about yet, nor celebrate. It's a functioning 4K/UHD player. Door opens and closes fairly quickly. Movie loads quickly enough. No jitters. The only thing I can't review in full honesty here is the full "4K" resolution communication to the tv. I have yet to purchase my 4K/UHD tv.....so I don't know for sure how well it will translate that signal. In due time.

It's pricey but if you have a 4k television then it is worth it!!

The UBD-K8500 is a good disc-player that handles all current formats. The menu is fast and easy to navigate. The remote is small and ok. Would expect more functionality on the remote itself, like toggling between subtitles or languages, but overall this is a good basic player. What would make it exceptional is an external display on the player itself, but I am not complaining for that price.

We bought this player along with the Samsung 65 inch SUHD HDR TV. It does a good job up scaling standard Blu-ray movies to 4k. HDR is outstanding. We found this on sale for 199 and couldn't pass it up, considering it was almost 400 the week before.

Blew my expectations out the door. WHAT A PICTURE!!
