Terrible Machine

Machine did not clean cups took 4 visits before it was repaired, but then switched to pod detergent and cups again not clean. Now machine has error message stating leakage and machine had to be turned off at breaker switch until repaired. Samsung told me 6 days for service, and they fudge truth. They said 2 repairs they replace, but they mean that they can come unlimited amount of times per problem and it counts as 1 repair. Having same problem with washing machine that repair man cannot figure out repair. Stay away from Samsung

This product was so awful I exchanged it for a Kitchenaid. The first one installed didn't even work. First the tines on the top rack were too short to hold anything in place, dishes kept falling over. The bottom tines were spaced so closely together that our stoneware dishes didn't get clean unless we put an extended space between them. I closely followed the manufacturers recommendations for dish placement but this continuously occurred. I tried washing a muffin tin and cooling rack on the bottom along with other dishes but the dish detergent tablet didn't dissolve completely so I had to run it again and still it did not dissolve. I ended up hand washing everything. The stainless steel was a pain to keep clean. The placement of the buttons along the top edge was poorly executed as we kept hitting them when opening or closing the dishwasher door. The venting was under the counter top which if you have laminate you will end up replacing because the steam will warp it. Save yourself the trouble and don't buy this dishwasher.

As it has been stated, I also went against the grain of all the bad reviews and decided to take a chance on the new technology. As for that part, it was great but the biggest problem is with the door. It is very flimsy and the latch is a piece of garbage. You will see that in other reviews. Ours worked for 3 cycles and then the door wouldn't even close all the way. You had to have every single centimeter cleared for it to even make contact with the latch (to get it to even turn on). We couldn't even get it to close with the whole thing EMPTY! 200 We had it installed yesterday and our new BOSCH will be arriving in two days. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THS MACHINE!!! While I think the waterwall technology will catch on, it needs to be in a unit that is sturdy. Our old diswasher by Amana (mid grade) had a heavier door that actually latched.

Dissappointed for Samsung product

I bought this dishwasher as a Samsung kitchen bundle for our home we just purchased. I was prepared to write a good review, but the dishwasher is not functional. We got the dreaded “LE” error. I noticed that the blue light under the door handle was flashing which is has never done before. There was water on the floor, but I can’t confirm if there was a leak or just residual water from removing the wet dishes. This error is a common error and this dishwasher seems prone to failures. Unfortunately, I have another bad one.
Installation was pretty basic and anyone who has installed a dishwasher before should not have a problem. There is one major oversight that has to do with installing under granite or stone. Samsung recommends that you use the holes on the side of the door frame to screw into the cabinet frame on the left and right. The poor design gives you only one hole on each side, right in the middle of the frame. This results in very poor stability when the door is open and have a large amount of dishes on the bottom. The door provides a lever arm and the dishwasher pulls itself out of the cabinet. This happened several times and I finally gave up and drilled extra holes up down the mounting frame to fix this problem. I put a total of eight screws in there. I am sure this will probably void the warranty, but the dishwasher was destroying my cabinets.
Once installed, we had to experiment with the proper settings to get dishes to dry. We have toddlers and we wash a lot of plastic. We noticed that the top utensil shelf was rubber and plastic and contributed to not drying completely. We removed the utensil shelf and that seem to help a lot. So scratch that feature off.
I guess “quiet” is a relative term and for me this dishwasher was not quiet. We previously owned a Bosch in our old house and we had to put an ear next to it to confirm it was working. I will say that this machine does wash dishes well, but I agree with some reviews that the loading can be tricky and the tines are not well designed.
We will see what happens under the warranty repair, but I cannot recommend this product.

Hi Atomictom,
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your dishwasher, though I'm glad to hear you've arranged for service. They should be able to help determine whether the leaking is caused by an issue with the unit that can be corrected, or if it's the result of the door not closing properly, or perhaps it's related to the additional holes that were drilled for installation. Samsung's website offers a number of tips that can help with some of the issues you've mentioned. For example, leaking caused by the door not closing properly may be the result of the middle rack not being locked into place correctly; if this is the case, the solution may be as simple as adjusting the middle rack position which is explained through Samsung's online troubleshooting guide.
While it's true that plastics can be difficult to dry since they don't retain the heat necessary for evaporation, one of the benefits of condensation drying is that items that sometimes fall to the bottom of the dishwasher won't be damaged. This is in addition to the benefit of the reduced energy usage.
The DW80H9930US WaterWall Dishwasher is designed to be a very quiet 44 decibels when installed properly. If it's determined that the reported leaking is related to the door not closing properly, then it's conceivable that this could allow sound to escape, as well. Perhaps this will also be resolved along with the other issues.
Thank you for your feedback, and I hope your confidence is restored very soon! - Ms. Samsung

Missing the basics

While it does clean dishes it is missing the simplest, basic function. There is no display of the remaining wash cycle time, the program or anything at all once the dishwasher has started the cycle. The only way to get any feedback is to open the door. That is such an oversight and degrades the product to a very low level.

I purchased the Samsung Waterfall Dishwasher as I have all Samsung appliances throughout my house. Thinking it would be a good dishwasher I was astonished when the FIRST one started having issues with the door latch not staying latched and the door would open during the wash cycle and start flashing. I was able to get Best Buy to exchange it and had the new one installed last week before Christmas. Well, after running dishes through it every day since, the new dishwasher is doing the same exact thing. It's a flaw with this particular dishwasher. Going to Best Buy this afternoon and getting a Bosch. (Should have done that in the first place.) Don't waste your time or money on this dishwasher.

Took a chance on this sleek-looking Samsung with a third rack (one of the main reasons I bought it). After four uses, we could not close the door - the latch just won't work. I have a Samsung in-warranty repair visit pending, but I doubt I'm even going to have it repaired. It doesn't bode well for a dishwasher if it can't even last two weeks! I'm taking Best Buy up on their return policy. I'll return it and probably get a Bosch.

This dishwasher replaced my cheaper 10 year old Kenmore. The build quality is superb. The bottom of the machine is not an empty frame as you would find with cheaper dishwashers.
If you haven't seen it before, the Waterwall technology works as well as advertised. Since there is no spinning mechanism on the bottom, you can choose a heavier cleaning based upon the left or right side. The only thing I would change is the top lcd display- it would be nicer if it remained on during the wash cycle.

I should have went with my instinct and bought the simple Bosch(husband liked the water wall thing). 1st issue was when the 1ST dishwasher was delivered there was a large amount of rust on the inside and opening. Even the install guys said it was bad. Refused delivery and another install was scheduled for 2 weeks later. 2nd dishwasher arrived and was installed but leaked at day 33 - large puddles of water on the kitchen floor. Service came out a week later and replaced the seal. 2 months later dishwasher stopped functioning. Power came on but nothing moved, no water came out, etc. One week later was able to get a Tech to came out. He replaced the rails which said could often interfere with the internal signals leading to a malfunction. That didn't work. He had no idea what the issue was but asked me to leave the dishwasher on and text him if an error code appeared. Nothing appeared and the dishwasher simply sat there - lights on nobody home - for hours. Called service and they said they would order every part imaginable and send a tech back out. Parts weren't on time. Another week went by and guy is supposed to show up on 10/20 to re-haul a 4 month old dishwasher. Unacceptable in my book. I'll I want is to launch the thing and buy something else. Of course Best Buy's policy doesn't allow that so I guess I'm super happy I bought the extended warranty which I never do. Guess my instinct kicked in a little late but better than nothing. I think I'm going to Craig's list it at a loss any buy something else.

First-generation "bugs" evidently being worked out by the customers. Yuk - what a hunk of junk. Door does not remain shut, causing the unit to stop mid-cycle and error out. Weak latch design is the prime suspect. A few drops of water on the floor with each run due to poor door sealing. It runs a complete, error-free cycle about every third time. The other two times require a re-set and restart to finish.
We unfortunately bought this without reading the online reviews. Our installer even cautioned us on the unit, and did not have great hope for it. When it works, it works great. Unfortunately that requires the sun and moon (and evidently the racks) to be exactly aligned.

Hi DeltaMike,
I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your dishwasher. The racks do need to be pushed in the whole way in order for the door to seal properly. To accomplish this, please make sure the middle rack is securely locked into either the upper or lower position. If the door continues to leak despite the rack being properly aligned and pushed in, please contact 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG for assistance.
I hope this helps, Ms. Samsung

Purchased this dishwasher in July. After a few cycles the door would not latch closed and an error code came on. Called the best buy geek squad they sent 2 techs out that we over heard saying they did not know how to fix these dishwashers. They "fixed" it. They had to come out 4 times before we could finally exchange it. Had the exact same model installed, after 1 week the door does not latch, error codes and is leaking. Stay away from this dishwasher!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, Fgr78. What you're describing can occur if the middle rack isn't pushed in and aligned correctly. I would suggest reading the article in Samsung's Troubleshooting Guide that explains the proper procedure for aligning the middle rack so the door can close and latch properly.
I hope this helps! Ms. Samsung

I used to have confidence in Samsung as a quality brand and This unit looked great with new technology and nice features, however, it has been sitting in non-working status about as much as we have been able to use it. If you have one and it breaks within the return window send it back. Don't make my mistake and allow Best Buy to repair and your return period close. As at least one other reviewer mentioned the first thing that happened is the machine began to leak. The repair guy came out says I need a part so over a week for the part to arrive and reschedule. It gets repaired then leaks again, another period of time to wait for repair but this time it's just an adjust. Apparently there are some parts inside that can come out of place and it's the users responsibility to make sure all is in place. This is a design flaw in my opinion. Now it won't pump the water out of the machine, more than a week goes by to wait for a repair visit, during this week 3 boxes show up via UPS with parts for the dishwasher, the guy shows up from Geek Squad, cleans out the hose, advises to use baking soda occasionally, turns the machine on, doesn't wait to verify the machine will continue to work, which it didn't, he leaves giving my wife a card saying to call and let him know how it does. The unit is still just a few months old, how much could be in the hose? She calls him that night to let him know it wasn't fixed. So now they say a sensor is ordered and I'll have to wait another week, that's if the part arrives in time. So out of the 3 boxes sent for the machine no sensor and none of those parts used, really? Best Buy puts off our request for another brand machine and maybe they do have procedures to follow but it's obvious they have no concept of customer service. It would seem after all the repair visits and parts and shipping it would be just as cost effective to replace the unit. This is like my 3rd fairly large purchase from Best Buy in about a year but after this, if not made right, it will certainly be the last. I can see myself after the warranty is up throwing this unit away and coming out with one expensive lesson.

I bought this dishwasher and took advantage of free installation. The first available appointment was 10 days from purchase date and required 4 hours window during business hours. 17 days after installation the dishwasher stopped working. I contacted BestBuy and 10 days later after 3 appointments (2 with BestBuy technician and 1 with Samsung) it’s still broken. So I wasted total of 8 hours for repair appointments. I called BestBuy and told them I want to return this dishwasher. They informed me that return period is 15 days and now its under manufacturer warranty and I need to speak to Samsung.
tl;dr version - unreliable product and awful service.

Brought it in August and liked the new waterfall technology. It's very quiet and nice looking. But, every time I try to use it I get the error code "7E" . I open it up check for items interfering with the water reflector and there is none. Take out half the plates and all the silverware and try it again. Still getting "7E". I take out all of the items and run it empty. Still gets "7E" error. Placed a service call and when the technician came out he said he had never seen this type of dishwasher. He had no clue about it. He called Samsung tech support which did nothing. He couldn't get the 7E code to come on. Solution to the problem is do a lighter load and my dishes may be too heavy. NO! that's not the solution to the problem. Very disappointed in the dishwasher. Went to use it again and had only 1 bowl in the bottom tray. Guess what happened! 7E came up twice. I hate it at this point. Money wasted on this product. I will never buy another samsung dishwasher again if they can't resolve this.

Had this machine installed a week ago. Today we could not get the one drawer to slide in all the way so we could not close the door to use the machine. I can not find anything that is causing the problem so I called Samsung, gave them the SN# and the rep then told me to send in my receipt to show when I had bought the dishwasher. Obviously the SN# was not good enough. She then said they would send me a new drawer. I told her that if I could get the drawer out in the first place I could probably fix it myself. I wanted a tech to come out and fix this $1100.00 machine. I told her to forget about it and I would deal with Best Buy. Her response was to tell me about some web sight for Samsung. I hung up on her. I could care less about some web site that had nothing to do with my problem. My wife posted our problem on Twitter and Best Buy responded within minutes. Since our machine was installed only a week ago we could return the machine and exchange for a Bosch dishwasher which we should have bought in the first place.

Purchased from Pacific Appliance in by local BB store in July. By August the door wouldn't close. Samsung sent out unqualified repair men (kids really) from a third party called "Service Quick". On the first visit they put a hole in the side. Second visit they couldn't re install it. Next visit brought a Samsung product specialist who broke the latch off the door. Samsung offered to repair the door, which they didn't, then offered to replace it, which they didn't, then offered to refund the cost of the dishwasher (not the installation or required accessory parts). It has been 4 weeks without a $900 dishwasher and no refund in site, not to mention dozens of hours spent on the phone with Samsung and Service Quick. This is the last Samsung product I will ever buy!

Mchere,
I'm sorry to hear about this issue. If you do still have your DW80H9930US, it's possible the door is opening because the middle rack is not locked in either the upper or lower position, preventing it from pushing in all the way, which could block the door from closing.
If you've already replaced your dishwasher, we wish you the best. If, however, you haven't replaced it, please try this simple solution.
Thank you, Ms. Samsung

I have owned this product for 5 years now. I bought the Geek Squad 5 year protection and it expired this past January. Well they replaced everything all kinds of motors, control boards and many accessories. The soap tray and also the dish rack had rust. Now there is a water inlet that’s rusting the side wall (Stainless Steel) and well this is not started yesterday and since warranty from geek squad is expired they won’t touch it. Samsung says no way we have a year warranty and that’s it. Ohh also the whole waterfall system was replaced. So if I would of rejected the geek squad warranty this piece of junk would have been a major pain and money pit. Samsung makes good phones and terrible appliances( yes I also have the dishwasher dryer microwave stove and refrigerator ) so yes terrible appliances. I use this thing like 3-5 per month so I’m not a heavy user.
