I bought this to replace a 2-year-old version of the SanDisk 128GB iPhone Lightning to USB Type-A thumb drive that started to fail at backing up files on my iPhone because the device wouldn't be recognized by the SanDisk App. This new version is about as fast as the 2-year-old version, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The slow write speed doesn't matter because the Lightning port is only USB 2.0 (480 mbps, or 60 MBs), but the read speed via USB-C should be faster especially when the old USB-A version was just as fast as this one. In addition, I have another SanDisk 256GB USB-A / USB-C thumb drive that I bought at the same time at Best Buy for less than 1/2 the price and it reads/writes twice as fast as this. Buyers, beware this thumbdrive is purpose built for backing up your iPhone or iPad with lightning connector. Plug it into these devices and it will automatically launch SanDisk's iXpand Drive app to initiate a backup of your device. If you plug this into an iPad that uses USB-C, then the iPad will recognize it as an ordinary thumb drive and will not open SanDisk's app for backup. You can still copy/paste files to and from the thumb drive, just not automatically backup anything.

I like it a lot because it saves me from paying monthly for more cloud space. It has a nice solid build like a little tank. a protective cap. To be a little picky,I would like it better if it came with a strap and the protective cap was hinged on the device to prevent loss that doesn’t take away it’s wuality.

These are great for size compatibility, but saving memory takes longer then the usual time it takes for external drives 2 save . They are definitely sturdy in comparison

This SanDisk is amazing. It’s simple to use and it works perfectly. I downloaded my photos and videos from my iPhone and transferred them to my Surface.

I stand behind SanDisk for quality products. I recommend this product. I only wish it came with larger storage.

This device DOES NOT work with Type-C devices advertised. I tried two android phones before and after contacting Customer Support to find the App listed in the instructions to use the advertised features. The App for Type-C devices is nonexistent. Instructions given by the Customer Support Specialist to use the product features as advertised didn't work. SanDisk had traditionally been my go-to brand for reliable high quality external storage for decades, and I assumed this product was no different. Unfortunately, I was wrong and bought 2 Luxes. It's too late to return for a refund. Why put Type-C on the unit that doesn't work? A true waste of my money and time.

I need to get some videos and photos off my iPhone so I purchased this. I installed the app and everything was going well and then the device stopped and I got an error message, “Unable to complete operation-the specified destination is no longer available…”. I contacted the manufacturer and after 40 minutes of researching (and waiting) he said to uninstall and reinstall the app. That did not work. On the second call they told me to return it.

Slow transfer speed but great memory solution for iphone/ipad and usb-c devices.

I’m very pleased with the SanDisk flash drive. I was able to free up a ton of memory off my iPhone. It was fairly easy to use. Just read the directions carefully. I choose to remove the photos completely from my phone, but you can also just have this backup your photos. I needed the space free for our vacation and this did the job. I’m very pleased with it and I plan to buy more as gifts.

This is a good drive if you have different ported devices to share files between. The SecureAccess/PrivateAccess software, if you use it, only kicks in with the lightning side of the drive though, otherwise contents are accessible through your file browser (i.e. Files on iOS). It has sufficient space for me to keep important files backed up and to clear up phone/tablet space on the go. There is no standard USB end on it, so to use on a computer you’ll need a USB-C port, or an adapter for one side or the other.

I bought this usb flash drive to store some important files and photos. I was impressed by how fast it transferred the data from my laptop. I was excited to discover that this type of product existed. Because my phone has 64GB, I didn't want to delete my pictures and videos just to make room. Once I downloaded the app, it worked easily on my iPhone X. The only problem that I had was that I wanted to transfer the data to my laptop that only had USB drives and not USB-C. BestBuy didn't sell the adapter that I needed and I had to find one at another company. I'm happy with my purchase, especially since I bought it on a great sale.
