This is my first MP3 player,so I have nothing to compare it too. I like the diminutive size. It holds up to 1,000 songs. I can purchase additional memory if necessary. It does seem to have a mind of its own when operating and becomes fickle when stopping and starting a song. I'm sure its just me. Primary use is when I'm working out. Does not get a good fm signal when at the gym or at work. The ear phones are too large and the cover for one of the ear phones already feel off. A pair of ear phones purchased previously had adjustable inserts that you could apply to your ear phones. For the purchase price you may want to consider including adjustable ear phones instead of one size.

Can't Beat It For The Price!

I owned one of the first generation of this product ( 1gb ). The FM reception was fantastic and the battery life was about 8 hours. With this one, not so much. I timed it. Battery lasts about 4 hours at best and the FM reception is fair to poor. It sounds great, though, and it's a no brainer to use. The expansion slot for a micro-sd card is a great bonus. If it were not for the battery life, I would give this 4 1/2 stars.

I've owned several mp3 players in my life and am a big techie, so when original edition ipod shuffle went kaput on me (and was 2 months outside of warranty), I decided to try going slightly cheaper and grabbing the Sansa Clip 4GB. Here's how I'd rate the device, as it gave me a mixed bag of great and terrible performance- Pros- FM Radio / Audiobooks - It's really fantastic to be able to get this in a sub $50 product. The radio is clear, and works well with my local stations. I didn't try the audiobook feature Menus - Easy to navigate Size - 4GB is a lot of space at this price point. Cons- Jack Issues - Went through 4 pairs of headphones with this unit. I don't know if it was my jogging tugging at the cords or what but with my iPod shuffle I didn't go through a single pair. Those 4 pairs lasted less than a month each. Poor Sound Quality - The sound with the exact same pairs of headphones was quite a bit worse than my iPod shuffle. It wasn't terrible, but it was definitely not great. You really couldn't hear the hi's and low's in various songs, even with better pairs of headphones plugged into it. Quality - Feels cheap, buttons and volume control are just not as simple as an iPod shuffle. I'm not a big Mac lover or anything, but this product just doesn't compete in the $50 range. The iPod Shuffle is a much better buy.

I would rather own this than an iPOD any day. It's easy to use, small, and costs 1/2 the price as an ipod. Good sound, great features. Would recommend this (and have) to many friends.

This is my first MP3 and I find it easy to use. I only use it to download audiobooks from the library. I haven't tested its limit but I keep 4-5 books on it at one time. The sound has been very good and it works well with an adapter in my car. Books download very quickly from the library.

    Phenom little MP3 Player

The best thing about this MP3 player is its size and ability to add extra memory. I put it in my pocket, and have cleaned my gutters, grocery shopped and played disc golf. So much smaller than my other MP3 players and light weight. The are so many built in extras: FM radio, voice recorder, etc. I brought one for each of my family members this past X-mas

This is the 2nd Clip I've purchased and I love them both. Very easy to use and small enough you can take them anywhere. The addition of the microSD slot was a nice touch - allows you to add a lot of storage for a small price. Nothing fancy about the interface but it does the job and managing the music is simple. I use it around the house and it's great to plug into the aux input in the car.

    Cute Mp3 Clip

The radio works fine, but its a bit fuzzy on my public radio station, which is low end of the dial. Perhaps it where I am at in the city though. Its small and the clip is really handy. If you drop it while wearing the headphones it will just dangle, its so light it wont detach by its own weight. It plays lots of formats, FLAC is the best sound quality and smaller than WAV. 4 gigs is enough space to fit lots of mp3s (around 600), or 6 or 7 FLAC albums. 50 dollars is a good price. Its rechargeable, holds lots of tunes, and has a voice recorder. It was worth every penny.

I bought this about 3 months ago and it was great. I copied all sorts of audio-books to it and enjoy listening while I exercise. Then one day it just died. I plugged it into my computer, still dead. Next day, I left it plugged into my computer all day long (with my computer on), still dead. I had resolved myself to just buying another one and getting extended warranty and I saw they were on sale for $10 off. Another day later I thought "what the heck" and tried turning it on, and it worked!...for about 30 seconds, and I saw the dead battery icon, and it died again. So I plugged it into my computer and it came back on, I let it completely charge, and has been good ever since. I guess I had played it till the battery completely died and for some reason letting it sit for a day or two the battery managed a little bit of juice, I charged it, it hasn't had any problems ever since. So I recommend never letting it completely die. In my car I have a power inverter (converts DC power from cigarette lighter into AC power with a USB plug too, "Power Line" from Wally World at $38 or so) that it will plug into, so I make sure it's plugged in there whenever I listen to it in the car. Also, it remembers where I left off for an audio book or a song if I shut it off then turn it back on, but if I plug it into my computer without first turning it back on, it forgets. But it does remember, if I plug it into my car's power inverter so that's great. I like it enough that I bought one for my wife for her birthday (with the added bonus that I caught it the week when it was $10 off).

The sansa player is a great little product, has everything you need. I do wish the battery lasted a few hours longer like the sansa express. Also, it takes a long while for the player to reboot after songs have been added or deleted from storage. I have about 4gigs on there. I can't imagine 16 gigs. However, once it reboots, you don't have to wait for the reboot until, again, songs are added or deleted. Hope this helps.

It's great! I looooove it! I take it everywhere with me! And i would say 30 something dollars is pretty cheap for an awesome mp3 player :) the only bad thing is it was a pain in the butt to open the plastic package it was in, and the headphones hurt my ears so i use different ones. And the mp3 will only hold so many songs, right now i have about 250 songs and the memory is only half full with is fine with me! Hope you enjoy it as much as i do, and i hope my review helps you :)

I already own the predeccessor 2 GB version and saw this device on sale for Black Friday. I had to upgrade. I have two disappointments with the device. First is the new teaming with Rapsody. That is junk useless and a pain at start up. And the difficulty I am having loading audio books from the library on the device. The device keeps giving me an error that the books are restricted even though they are borrowed on-line from the library. Testy! I am keeping my 2GB one for that feature. Otherwise the device is awesom and I love the FM radio on it. I don't need Apple!

I only buy Sansa mp3 products . The addition of the sdcard allows me to store many more books. It is durable, small and fast and easy to use. Plays all audible files. If you finish all your books then you can switch to the radio. The size makes it perfect for working out or just anytime as it is so small you don't even know you have it on. All of my other sansa models are still working great bought this one for the amazing storage. GREAT get one and enjoy

    Sound Quality for Discerning Taste!

If you judge a DAP based on wheather or not it has WIFI, has apps, has a touch screen - or any of the typical Apply fan chick/boy expectations - or if you convert your music into the smallest file possible for the sake of saving space and cannot hear the difference in a file of 128 kb and 320 - or the difference between an MP3 file and a Flac file - If your measure of sound quality is predicated on how loud a player sounds- If you think that the best listening experience can happen through included earbuds, then this is not the player for you ! If you bought this and are now whining about the lack of a touch screen or Wifi - -- umm well, I dont even know what to say about that foolishness! While, if you are used to a touch screen, the navigation on this can be tedious (my only criticism of the player thus far)- the player does all that is is supposed to do with all of the features that it has! If, however, you are simply looking for a music player with arguably the best sound quality in the business - I am talking out of the box with no equalization - a player that plays a wider range of file formats than most other DAPs, and all you need it to do is play music - exceptionally well - then this is what you buy - PERIOD. It is not that I am a Sansa fan chick - nope. I have owned this now for several months after having grabbed it for about $25.00 off of Ebay-part of my experiment to see why anythingbutipod.com ranked this as the best player of 2009. I listened to it once and set it aside preferring to use my Samsung or Sony - because I like to look at cover art and all of that jazzy stuff-I almost never listen to my iPod.- I use it only because it is the best player to use with my car stereo. No doubt, Apple has the best implementation of a touch screen and cover art - love the player for that. It is the last of the 8 or so PMP that I would pick up for private listening, though! This week, picked up the Sansa again- loaded it with Flac and Vorbis music files - listened to it with a pair of Sennheiser HD 238s- was nearly moved to tears by how absolutely beautiful my music sounded. No one would have ever convinced me that I would find a player that I thought surpassed the SQ of my Samsung. The only brand left to test this against is Cowon, and this is not a brand you will find in Best Buy; Best Buy does not sell a better sounding player than the Sansa Clip. Now, admittedly, I have not listened to the Zune HD, and so long as Microsoft follows Apples insistance of using that proprietary media software that handcuffs your own music - and also does not inclued a custom equalizer, I never will! Now, I cannot speak to any other things like how easily or not the files on the micro SD card integrate with the player - or whether or not it will play if I take it through the washer - like I did with the Samsung- umm and yeah.. after a few days that one did play -.. the only thing I am concerned about is how this baby soungs - only wish that I had gotten one with a larger capacity. Do you want gadgets or do you want superp sound quality? In any event, no lover of DAPs and excellent sounding music would be caught without owning one of these, ESPECIALLY at this price and with expanded memory.

I had another Sansa Clip (2GB) that lasted several years, and I like how simple these are to use. So I bought another one - this model. Again, super simple to start up, but over the month I owned it, I strongly suspected that I had a return or refurb - battery life seemed short, some songs locked up the player, crackling when I moved a certain way. I decided to test the battery life today - Charged it fully and started playing - it just stopped dead 6 hours into playing. Will not acknowledge the charger. We will test the Sansa warranty now.

I actually own 2 of these items. The clip broke off the first one but since that was only a minor issue I went ahead and bought another for running. Well the clip is about ready to fall off that one too. Additionally, the on off button no longer works so I have to turn it on via the USB on the computer. Not convenient. However, I love the overall size of the unit as I use it primarily for running. The charge lasts upwards of 4 hours of continued use. The sound quality is good and the ease of use is exceptional. Wish it was a little more durable,

Great player at a great price! Has more than enough room for my music! Biggest thing for me was ease of transferring music from my laptop to player and this Clip+ does a fabulous job at doing so! Display is nice and simple...gets to the point. Sound customization is easy to achieve and sounds terrific!
