Small outside but huge storage space. And fast, I mean really fast transfer speed. Its also well made of metal. Perfect for my needs.

Everything about these thumb drives appealed me to except the price, so I was pretty happy to seem them dropped down so drastically. Part of me was hesitant because I felt like such a drastic price drop (more than 60%) may indicate that they were dumping a bad product, which is not uncommon.
I decided to gamble and grabbed a 512 GB version, and my suspicions immediately started to feel justified.
First thing I did was plug the thumb drive into my phone so I could dump my camera roll onto it. In the time it took me to navigate to the camera roll's folder, the thumb drive was surprisingly warm.
I decided that instead of doing it through the phone, I would just take the SD card out of my phone, dump the camera roll to my computer because I wanted a copy on there anyway, then I would copy the files to the thumb drive.
When I started transferring the files I was immediately unimpressed by the transfer speeds I was getting compared to the older thumb drive I was using as a backup. This drive seemed to struggle and just hovered around 11 MB/s.
Worse than the speeds though was the heat. This drive didn't take long at all to get so hot it was actually quite uncomfortable to handle. While it did cool off fairly quickly after unplugging, getting that hot that quick hardly inspires much confidence. I havent had it long, but I have to wonder how long this thing could possibly last with any kind of regular use when it gets so hot.
While I do really like its size and build quality, I have to give it 1 star due to the the disappointing speed compared to even older thumb drives I have, and its worrisome heating up. Part of me wanted to give it an extra star because I do really like its build quality, but I feel like its metal construction is probably the cause of its heat, but Im not qualified to say that with certainty.

I just got it. It's pretty cool in regards to using 2 USB types, but did I get a defective one, or does every unit get this hot. Like after I back up my computer, it is at that temperature where if you were in the shower, it's that threshold where 1 degree more and it's burning your skin. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm actually kinda worried that if I use it on a regular basis, the heat will shorten the life.
