Not a good idea for a heavy TV with metal studs

That amount of weight extended is not a good idea. So, did not install it.

Yes we do not recommend full motion mounts with steel studs as they can interfere with the integrity of the stud over time. If you have steel studs, we'd recommend our BLT series of tilt mounts. Please call us at 800-359-5520 for further guidance.

The range is a little limited as it doesn't extend as far as I thought. If you need more range, the Rocket Fish has better range options but sticks out a little more than this one.
