There have been World War II films in the past in Hollywood but none had moved and stunned me as much as Saving Private Ryan. The opening shot battle scene on D-Day in Omaha Beach should be given an Oscar alone. But this was the overwhelmingly deserved best picture Oscar for 1998. And truly on 4K what is more to say. Great clear picture and such awesome sound that’s delivered minute after minute. A must have for war movie fans or even for those die hard action fans, this is a film to be remembered for years to come.

This movie is great, has amazing FUNNY lines, fast action, really sets a nice pace. The sound is great, can't say enough good things about the sound, it has what you expect for the money you spend on a disk of this magnitude, the money they spent was well placed. You get high quality content. The CGI is so realistic you forget its CGI and just fall into the story and lose yourself in the emotion and staging of the drama and action.

This isn't a review of the film, but if it were it would be 5 stars as well. This is a review of the differences of the 4K release. Image is noticeably sharper, colors are crisper, brighter and everything is more detailed. Just as you would hope and expect. For me I always like paying attention during low light scenes to see the benefits of HDR aside from the obvious bright and vivid colors. Everything in this film looked amazing.

The first war movie that truly created the true horrors of battle. The first 30 minutes of recreating the D-Day landing at Omaha Beach was incredibly real. The last 30 minutes of the movie was a complete adrenaline rush that had be shaking. I felt like I need to be debriefed after watching this movie. If your not moved by the ending of this movie, then you need your pulse checked.

Remastered in 4K and puts you on the front lines to stop one mother from losing it all. A classic that i grew up watching, and now I can show my son what its like to be in WAR.

Saving Private Ryan continues to be just as impactful as when it was released. The battles are heartwrenching, but the sacrifices made warm the heart.

It gives you only a glimpse of what happened in World War Two. It is a good story and I have watched this movie a few times. I can't imagine what it was like for all of our soldiers to be fighting in a war that we lost so many men. It shows what our soldiers carry around with them the rest of their lives and most never talk about it or say anything.

Of the 25 4K Blurays I own, Saving Private Ryan is hands down the best of the lot. The 4k Scan of the 35mm film yields incredible sharpness and vibrant colors and the remastered Dolby Audio mix makes you duck for cover as rounds fly over your head. Regardless of how many copies of this you own - VHS, DVD, Bluray… this is a must add to your collection!

I guess by now there is really nothing to say about the movie as almost everyone knows about it. But to review the presentation is more the purpose of this review. The sound puts you right in the middle of the beach. You almost start looking over your shoulder to see who is shooting. The video is clear and engaging. It is a true experience.

This is a film everyone should see at least once in their life (when old enough). Although it's a fictional story, it's very moving and poignant, and the horrific reality of WWII it depicts is true to life as any you'll see. Tom Hanks of course is brilliant, and you'll see a few familiar faces of other stars before they got famous (Vin Diesel!)

Some people advise others to close their eyes during the loooong opening scene of Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan. That would be a mistake. Yes, it's carnage, it's horrible, it's relentless, it's bloody, it's random death, it's a portrayal of fear and courage and raw coincidence. But it's also one of the most powerful pieces of cinematography ever filmed. There are many other scenes that have stayed with me during the years since I last saw this unforgettable film, perhaps Spielberg's best ever. Perhaps the most poignant one that comes immediately to mind is the woman whose sons are all away at war. She's on a remote farm, washing dishes, and thru her window she sees the dust of approaching cars. She goes outside to meet the visitors, tenses as she sees military brass and a chaplain step from the cars, then crumples wordlessly to the worn boards of her front porch as she tries to take in the news: all her boys have been killed, except for one: Private Ryan. Another related scene, the one that came just before this one, is equally gut-wrenching (and in both scenes, there is no dialogue, just heart-stabbing visuals that are more powerful than any words could have been) as a woman charged with sending out letters of the We Regret to Inform You variety realizes that she's seen three letters with the same address within the past few days, and she takes this terrible proof to her supervisor - and thus is born the search for the surviving son, to bring him home to his momma. Tom Hanks, with his own persona of morality and honesty, is perfectly cast as the good Captain Miller, a soldier's soldier charged with this onerous task, and of course there is terrible cost. Saving Private Ryan is the film Spielberg HAD to make. Outstanding, in every possible way.

With the 75th anniversary of D-Day, revisiting this movie was essential viewing. 21 years after the release, this movie still holds up and is a fantastic glimpse into the sacrifice so many heroes gave in the name of freedom. The picture quality on this 4K is amazing, and I doubt the movie has ever looked better than it does here.

There is a to real gun battle @ the beginning of this film which was a real event that really happened, it may be to graphic for young children. Over all this is a good movie with good sound & the film was nicely done we have it on blu-ray there is also 4k version over all I find the blu-ray to be very good.

The beach scene in the begging is an amazing use of Atmos. Probably one of if not the best uses of full surround effects. Height channels are pretty much exclusively used for whizzing bullets, which is my only complaint. HDR and 4k are not important in this film. Buy this for the Atmos track.
