Fast, Fun, and Frenetic. If you enjoy anime and action games with some RPG-Lite elements this game will scratch an itch for around 50 or so hours (that is playing through as both characters, which I recommend to get the complete story) There are plenty of small side-quests and tons of dialog(mostly voiced) The English dub is actually pretty decent and I was surprised it was dubbed seeing as the anime is not even dubbed yet. Diverse combat and lots of great visuals and a good not perfect sci-fi story. Combat is tight and responsive and on PS5 it makes use of the adaptive triggers making your powers fee great to use. I waited to review this until after I completed it through and I can say I will likely come back to it and play it again it was just good fun with a colorful cast and an amazing aesthetic.

I'm a big fan of the "Tales of" series and this was made to mirror some of those game with its own individual flair. The story is captivating and the playstyle is a blast.

I don’t know what I expected going into this but I wasn’t that impressed. For a new IP in this day and age it is nice to see reputable studios taking chances. Unfortunately I feel like this game is really nothing more than a swing, ground ball and throw out to first. First the good. The presentation is lovely. The colors are vibrant and very futuristic with deep red hues and amber glow. The music has its ups and downs but is mostly up. The weapon design, sound effects and monster design are all fantastic! The controls are fun and intuitive. You won’t be doing finger gymnastics trying to figure out how to throw objects with your mind. The fast paced gameplay is good as well. The bad. The levels are very plain and boring. There’s very little room to explore and any secrets you do find are worthless. One of my biggest issues is the camera. Your character literally moves within an inch from either the far left or eights side of the screen before the camera moves. It’s always shifting to correct itself and if you turn the auto follow off you’re still spending just as much time messing with it as you are actually playing. The music can be annoying at times, non existent and pretty good. It’s inconsistent. The gameplay becomes stale quickly and you’ll begin to question if you really want to bother sitting through visual novel like stationary cutscenes for the next 35 hours. The story has a few interesting twists but never amounts to anything more than being generic. There’s very little character growth despite having an ensemble cast. Every character fits nicely into an anime trope and phones it in. In my opinion if you’re looking for a generic action game with a visual novel like presentation and some cool ideas then Scarlet Nexus should hold you over until something better comes along. If you haven’t played Astral Chain and own a Switch I recommend playing that instead.

Highly recommend even for none JRPG fans this game has very fun combat and a decent story it’s got 70+hours of content definitely worth your money.

Best game of the year so far. The combat is great and the story is unique. My only complaint is that there could be more cut scenes for the story.

Awesome new IP, if your a RPG fan this is right up your alley. Combat is great & story is pretty good.

An excellent game by the team that developed the Tales of Berseria game. The character designs and setting in this are futuristic but still well done. The story has uneven pacing but overall was very enjoyable and dramatic. Gameplay is more action based and you only control the main character, its more of a snowball like difficulty where at first you are weak and combat may be difficult, but by the end of the game you are completely busted.

This game is a pretty good JRPG. The story is the most lacking in my opinion. While it's definitely a engaging story with a great world, I found myself not as investing as I probably should've been, but that may just be me. The gameplay is definitely the best part of this game. I would rank it to be close to Dark Souls or Devil May Cry as far as how fun it is to play. This game is worth $60 to me, and I think it would be for most other people.

underrated title that needs more love then it gets. Excellent gameplay and decent story.

The story can get a tad confusing near the end, but aside from that it's a great RPG with fun characters and incredible combat. The 2 main characters you can play through the story as are both unique and play different enough. I played through both stories to get the whole picture, but if you don't want to you really won't miss THAT much. Got this on black friday and would buy it again.

Very fun gameplay. Make sure you play with zero distractions, or you will find yourself quickly lost as the story moves quickly and does not forgive attention lapses. The RPG elements are pretty easy to follow and the gear/customization options are not only varied, but carry into cutscenes and the silhouettes in the (almost non-existent) loading screens.
