This is one of my classic favorite comedy movie every now and then I like to put this movie in my Blu-ray player to get a good. Now with the Blu-ray version Better Sound better visuals great upgrade if you can catch it on sale like I did for $12.99

this was fun, mildly offensive (and i say that in reverence) parody of the recent slasher-lite/slasher parody/slasher homages of that time (and a few others, as well). one note about the Blu-ray, however, while it's usually better than the DVD in picture quality, it's one of the worst discs i've seen. i've never seen details not just poor, but outright smeared-looking in places. i can't figure out how to even describe it. maybe like a Photoshop paint filter? also present is haloing from poorly supervised edge enhancement. (screenshots are not indicative of the *entire* movie's PQ, just some of the worse scenes)

A good movie to kick off October to before getting to the scary stuff.

This film looks and sounds amazing in high definition! The picture is very clear and sharp which is great for all the bright colors in the movie. The sound is crisp and clear!

The first and best film in the series, this one manages to touch on the then-current horror film tropes in an amusing way, even touching on other pop culture material of the time. Holds up fairly well on the re-watch.

One of the better parody films, hilarious throughout!

Funny movie cast is hilarious especially Marlon Wayans!

Scary Movie was the first film in a new wave of send-up films that, thanks to two of this film's writers, have now degraded to the point of the latest of the genre, such as Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, and Meet the Spartans. Those films are monstrous abberations and are completely unfunny, but Scary Movie does succeed in being humorous a good portion of the time. The plot is a direct copy of the first Scream film (ironically itself a satire of the slasher genre, created by Wes Craven, who has characterized much of the slasher genre since it was first created), in which a group of teens are being stalked by a knife-wielding killer in a black cloak and white ghost mask. This film also mocks another slasher film of the same year, I Know What You did Last Summer, so this film includes a sub-plot lifted from that film in which the killer is aware that the teens killed in a drunk driving incident (sort of, in this case) and subsequetly covered up for their own sake. The plot isn't the point here. The plot is just the loose framework upon which jokes are hung, and some of them, though FREQUENTLY crude, are actually quite funny, and the Wayans Brothers (Keenan Ivory Wayans directs and his brothers Marlon and Shawn act) successfully give the slasher genre a good grilling. They even find some time to poke fun at a few other things on the side, and the ending is a pretty fun, if totally non-sensical parody of The Usual Suspects. I don't recommend this to anyone who hates crude or simple-minded comedy, but if you like stupid humor, this will likely work for you.

At first glance I didn't think I would like this movie, I mean come on, a comedy featuring the lesser funnier Wayans (Shawn and Marlon). I didn't think it would be funny at all, good thing I was wrong. This movie showed why they are the first family of comedy.

If you enjoy spoof films, then you probably already own this one.

Of all four of the Scary movies this one is the best and the only one i think worth seeing.
